I have a few av's I want to try out on the forums, but they're too big. Is there any way to resize them? I'm not too good with this kind of thing. :wall: I also wasn't too sure on where to put this question. So correct me if I'm wrong. :

It's been said, Firemaking, fletching, cooking is the easiest. But in my opinion, Farming is fun. I love it.

Oh ok. I'll do that. Thanks a lot all of you for your help.

Well, how much money should I put in the coffers? My friend told me he does 1.5m. So I was thinking of that. And I was thinking of profits.

Good day fellow TipIters. : I'm here to give you my guide to Farming. Why? Mainly because it's my favorite skill and I see a lot of players who don't know what to do or how to start this skill. I also haven't seen very many guides about Farming. So, why not make one? Farming is quite easy once you get the hang of it. Most players give up on the skill after awhile because at the lower levels when all you can plant are potatoes and whatnot, it does get boring and hard to do. But luckily, I'm here to help you with that. I started Farming the day it came out basically but my level is only 51. I recently decided to try for 99 and hopefully I'll have it within months. This guide will take you through how to farm, the best ways of farming, chain farming, and a bunch of tips. Well, without further a due, let's begin. ~Table of Contents~ I. Farming- what is it? :?: II. How to get seeds. :-s III. How to farm. You just can't throw seeds in the ground. #-o IV. Chain Farming (My way) V. Rewards. Yes! Farming gives you rewards! :XD: VI. Tips. These are always helpful. \ VII. Thanks! ~Farming~ Farming is the skill in where you take a seed and plant it into a patch. Patches are everywhere in RuneScape. Sometimes you will be using more than one patch and will have to teleport a lot to do so. Level 3 skillers who want to raise this skill by teleporting can use teletabs. They're quite expensive but if it's the only way to do it, then do it. To start farming you need the following tools: Spade - this is used harvest crops, remove tree or fruit tree roots, remove dead plants, pick herbs and plant seedlings. Rake - Using this on a patch that has been infested with weeds will remove them for you. After that you can plant what you want into that patch. Seed Dibber - This is needed to plant seeds. Trowel - Used to plant tree or fruit tree seeds into a pot. Secateurs - These are needed to cut away diseased branches from trees or bushes. Watering Can - Used to water allotments, flowers, or potted trees in a pot. ~Optional tools~ Basket - You can use these to hold up to 5 fruits in. Plant Pot - Tree or fruit tree seeds need to be put in here before planted into a patch. Sack - You can hold up to 10 vegetables (Potatoes, onions, or cabbage) ~How to get seeds~ Obtaining seeds is very easy. You can either buy them, steal them, or get them from random monster drops. Stealing- Draynor Market, Master Farmers. You need level 38 thieving to do this. If successful, you get a seed and 43 XP. Draynor Market, Seed Stalls. You need 27 Thieving to steal from here. You get seeds and 10 XP. North of Ardougne, Master Farmers. (Same as Draynor Farmers) South of Varrock, Master Farmers. (Same as Draynor Farmers) Of course, if you're not into stealing, you can always go out and kills a few monsters and hope you get seeds. ~How to farm~ Farming is quite simple actually. To start, head to a patch (Potatoes being the easiest to plant at level 1, go to a allotment, flower, herb patch) Use your rake on the allotment patch and your character will start to weed out the patch. Each patch gives 3 weeds along with few XP. Once you weeded the patch, you can do either one of these: Leave it how it is and move to the next step, use compost on the patch, or use supecompost on the patch. Compost is the material made from degradable items. It's made by taking 15 degradable items and putting them into the compost bin located at every allotment, flower, herb patch. It takes 40-50 minutes to rot. Afterwards you can use your buckets to take out 15 buckets of compost. Compost helps with keeping your plants from being diseased and will yield a better harvest. Super compost is the same as compost but made by taking super degradable items(pineapples, watermelons, jangerberries, whiteberries, tree roots, coconut shells, toadflax, and other herbs avantoe and higher) and putting them into the compost bin. The rest is the same as normal compost but super compost gives you a higher rate of keeping it from disease and will yield a better harvest. Compost gives 4.5 xp each bucket. Using compost on a patch gives 18 XP. Super compost gives 8.5 xp each bucket. Using super compost on a patch gives 26 XP. Once you have done one of the options, you can now plant a seed. You need 3 seeds and a seed dibber in your inventory. Simply 'use' seed on the corresponding patch. Allotment patches need to be watered for them to grow. After planting a seed, 'use' watering can on the patch. once they grow a bit, they will need more watering. A tip- Using super compost on a allotment patch needs no watering. (I could be wrong about that though) Planting in other patches(Flowers, herbs, trees, ETC.) requires the same process but with only 1 seed and no watering except on flowers. ~Chain Farming~ Chain farming is a method used to plant several plants in a row to gain more XP faster. Chain farming is mainly used on herbs. A quick note, leaving your patch or logging out does not kill your patch. Yes you will probably have a few patches die, but overall this is a good way to gain XP and most times, your profits will outweigh your dead crops. -Chain farming herb run- To start herb runs, you will your inventory set up a little like this: Laws, Airs, Fire, Waters, Earths, Ecto, Glory, Seed dibber, Spade, Seeds. The rest is open for herbs. If you do not plan to use the patch in Port Phasmatys you don't need the Ectophial. If you don't have a glory, you can always teleport to Falador instead. Using this method means you will need magic. Or teletabs for the level 3 skillers. If using this method, it is advisable to ALWAYS use super compost. Normal compost is a waste of time. You do not need to carry the compost with you. Simple bank the compost with the wondering leprechaun who is always by every patch, and when you need a bucket, ask him for it. ^.^ Ok, now I will take you through how I run my herb runs. Hopefully it helps you and if so, feel free to upgrade to it or whatever. Start out by teleporting to Trollheim( You need to complete My Big Arm's Adventure quest to use this patch. This patch does not die. EVER! So it is very useful to use.) Make your way to the patch and grab a bucket of super compost from the leprechaun. Pick the herbs, use the super compost on the patch, plant the seeds and move on. Teleport to Port Phasmatys. Don't forget to fill your Ectophial before leaving. Head West to the patch. Basically follow step one in picking and planting your seed. Teleport to Draynor/Falador and bank. Bank the two buckets you've used and your herbs. Run to the herb patch North of Draynor(South of Falador) and repeat the picking/planting step. Teleport to Ardougne and run North to the herb patch. Repeat the picking/planting step. Finally teleport to Camelot. Run south to Catherbay and bank your buckets and herbs. Run North and repeat the picking/planting step. Do not forget to use your super compost on each patch. Once you're done with your run, no matter which way you use this method, you have the next 75 minutes to do whatever. Log out, play another game or go raise other skills. Personally, after each run I do, I like to refill my compost. I use the bin in Catherbay. What I do is empty out the super compost I have in there and give it to the leprechaun to hold. Then, since you need super degradable items to put in there, I run south to the docks. I trade the Charter Ship guys and buy pineapples.(Note- They stock 15 pineapples) I run back and use the pineapples on the bin and let it rot after closing. Now since I like Herblore XP, I use all my herbs and make them into potions. I run to the farming store just East of the Catherbay herb patch, buy 27 plant cures and empty them. Then I use the vials on the sink just South of there. Isn't it convenient? Now you don't always have to do it this way. Switch it around, test other methods out. But remember, the less pit stops you make, the faster it goes. I won't go over tree, fruit tree or other seed runs. Mainly because I'm not using them...Yet. But it's basically the same but using the correct patch for the seeds you're using. ~Rewards~ From herb farming, you can gain quite a bit of profits. (If using Ranarr seeds) Ranarr seeds sell from 25K-33K. After picking a plant, you can get anywhere from 5-12 herbs(Using super compost and Magic Secateurs). The most I've heard of is 18 herbs from one patch. It's possible. Ranarr herbs sell for 7.5K-8K ea. So anywhere from 3 to 4 herbs per seed pays off the seed. Anything more than that gives you the profit. Remember, You need 32 Farming to plant Ranarr seeds. As you gain levels, you can upgrade to higher herbs. Moving up means more money you'll get from selling the herbs/potions. ~Tips~ The Amulet of Nature- This is a amulet that you can bind to only one patch. It tells you if your patch has died, diseased, or is done growing. It's very useful. I like to bind it to my last herb patch, to use it as a timer. If that patch is done, the rest are done. To make this amulet, you need to make a emerald amulet. Use a spun magic root on the amulet and finally enchant it using the level 2 enchantment. Once it's enchanted, it cannot be traded. So sorry again for those skillers without magic. Try to wear clothing that takes weight away. (Boots of Lightness, Spotted/Spottier cape, Gloves of Penance). You will be running a lot so try not to wear too much. Your crops DO grow while you're logged out. So if you're about to log out and go to bed, do a quick run and when you awake, your crops will be ready to harvest. Replanting trees and bushes are a lot better than leaving them to pick again. Checking XP is a lot better. There is a Farming Clock. Every five minutes the clock will 'tick'. Meaning your crops will grow a bit. Herbs take 75 minutes, so it takes about 3 'ticks' for them to grow to the next stage. Allotments and flowers only need watering once every 'tick'. Magic Secateurs are must when herb farming. You can get these in the quest Fairy Tale Part 1. They give you a better yield when harvesting. Plus I think they look a bit stylish. =p Protecting your patches by having the nearby farmer watch your plants helps greatly. They will never die but in return, they usually need something. Not GP, but fruits or vegetable. I will add more tips as soon as I get them. So remember to check up every so often to get more tips. ~Thanks~ Thank you for reading my guide. Hopefully it helps those who are having a hard time farming or just those who wanted tips of farming. If I made a mistake anywhere, correct me please. I will fix it as quickly as I can. I only want the best information for players. This is my first guide EVER. So no flaming please. Only constructive criticism. It works a lot better. \ Pictures will go up as soon as I get all of them rounded up. :-w Thanks to Darkdoom for the teletab tip. =D> A special thanks to Tip.It for helping me with a few things. Thanks again for reading.
