  14. Reposting so you see. @my other post; tl;dr: Two types, the hicks that drive trucks and listen to country, and the hicks who don't want to be hicks.
  15. HALO! LOOK! MORE REASON TO HATE IT! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ey-VNes5YQs
  16. There's two kinds of hicks in Kearney. At least Kearney High. Maybe three, but I won't split the second group. There's the old kind. They're the ones that wear Cowboy boots to school and overalls on a regular basis. They listen to country and absolutely abhor the standard station played at school, which a top 40 6 pop station. They take mostly classes down in the autos section and they drive big trucks to school which they've customized a little. Funnily enough, they almost as a rule do pot. As one of them said, "Kearney High's racist against cowboys! They all think we do drugs!" Prior to this, he had walked into one of my classes and bragged that he had been strip searched for tobacco. They didn't find it because it was in his underwear. In fact, he pulled it out to show us. Then there's the more modern kind. They are hicks mostly because of where they live, and because that's how they were raised. They'll wear normal clothes, but it won't be quite "in" when you compare it to the coasts because the middle of the country is the last to get that kind of stuff. See silly bands - during detasseling last year, I heard a kid talking about how they were in another state for the first half of summer, and the silly band craze had hit there and then left. They came to Nebraska as it was just starting up. Because Nebraska's a little slow there, these hicks try to fit into the coastal trends as well as they know about them. This is the group I'm in - that's why I say I'ma, because I've been subconsciously conditioned to assume that's what people say in civilized parts of the country. The second group gets split into two kinds, wanna-be gangsters and normal people. Wanna-be gangsters listen to rap, and I'm not sure what normal people listen to because it's apparently not what I listen to. Probably pop, but for how much most of them complain about it, I'm not sure.
