  1. Something for game designers to always keep in mind is that the players will do what they're incentivized to do. That doesn't mean they'll do what is fun. Players do like having fun, and they will push toward fun, but if the game incentivizes them to do something that isn't fun, they will do that, and they will hate the game for it. If the game says "In order to win, you have to do this," they'll go, "Okay, that's what the game is saying," and they'll follow the lead of the game--but then what happens is they don't have fun.

  2. It absolutely is efficient to stop to fish, from a marginal standpoint. C2 fishing is the fastest pure fishing xp in the game. Stopping to fish in a dungeon you're already doing is like C2 fishing on crack--there's no xp penalty and you don't have to waste time on crappy C2 floors.

Same story with mining and woodcutting.

You're right, unless you're in a large with other people. Then you just become an [wagon].

Yeah, I guess that's an important caveat. Definitely good for solo though.

  3. Resisting the urge to eke out skilling XP (though I do grab fish. Everything else I can leave behind, but I like having that backup pile of food. >.>)

  4. Try to contact Jagex employees outside of the Account Help section. There are probably community management people on, like, Twitter or something, and you can do some research to see if there are any email addresses you can write to.

  5. Also totally agree on the 8 hours being too sparse, I can see they need to be rare due to high xp payout but couldn't you limit them to x-per-day like all the other D&Ds then bump em up to 4 hourly?

The reason they want so few is so that everyone who's doing them will be doing them all at once. There's no point to it if there's no competition, so there has to be a good crowd for every warband.

  6. Prayers on the ability bar makes prayer switching simple, and the latest graphical update made the animations pretty easy to track. In the old days you had to keep your head nice and clear so you could click to attack the healers, click to drink prayer pots, click to switch between prayers and inventory, and click to switch between protection prayers, all without misclicking. Now, everything can be done on the keyboard except attacking the healers, so you can keep your eyes on Jad the whole time and use hotkeys for the other stuff.

Mage is better than range, but bring melee for the Xils; they're slow to kill with magic and you might as well save some time.

  7. You get a total of 100 plates from story missions if you do all the adventurers and the trios--more if you use merchants and Fortune of the Sea. So make sure you get those done. Other than that, set up two whale trophies and a mammoth skull, do plate missions when they come up, make sure you get all the scrolls, and send your other ships out to get steel for upgrades.

  8. Likewise, Bandos could be an ourg.

On this point, it's worth mentioning we have a visual on Bandos from the Origin of Gielinor video. There's a frame where we see Bandos fighting Saradomin. (RS Wiki has a screenshot.) He has the body shape of an ourg, but his face is more pig-like than Graardor's, so it's iffy.

Worth noting we have an ASSUMED visual, it is by no means confirmed.

Yes all logical clues would point to it being Bandos, but we have no actual confirmation of this.

That's true, it could be some other unknown god who just happens by coincidence to wear Bandos-style armour and have the exact same symbol as Bandos.

    Or...it could be Bandos.

  9. I'm coming up on Admiral rank and I've only gotten enough resources/scrolls for two hats and two pants. It takes a while. But it shouldn't be too big a deal if you can't send out lots of voyages a day, especially once you unlock more ships and can send out three or four at a time.

  10. If you want to know your progress, talk to an adventurer in the bar while they're visiting. They'll tell you which of their missons you've done.

Keep in mind that story missions are completely unaffected by the region you've chosen to focus on. If the adventurer has a story mission available, it will always show up while they're in port, and they'll always go in order.
