if you are the last poster, the topic looks weird from the main page

yeah rules here used to be ridiculously strict. I pushed back a lot when I was a mod, with very limited success. I think my main accomplishment was getting shit uncensored

what little data i found showed significantly higher rates in the US. canada was even higher than the US which is a bit surprising given our laws are supposedly "better" according to the WHO

did they? didn't hear about that, unless you're referring to breathalyzing without probable cause, which was part of the legalization of marijuana I know where I am the province technically lowered the limit to .05 by enacting fines and license suspensions to anyone between that and .08. we've had that in ontario for a while, .05-.08 is the "warn zone" where there are more minor penalties

Varies by country. In at least a couple I was in, the driver couldn't drink *anything*. However, all the passengers could drink in the vehicle as much as they wanted....which was an awesome law tbh (at least for a week long road trip)

k so you can see the max users at the bottom of the main boards, I was going to check when I saw your post, it was like 4k something maybe 5 years ago (and it might have been more before we switched to IPB). But then I looked, and it's now 12k from like a week ago when the boards were down. Did we get DOSed? wtf

eh the policies and procedures were designed for a forum with thousands of active users - and it made sense. I doubt they were ever adapted for a progressively smaller user base

Cool people don't become mods, duh. I think throughout the years most have disappeared off the edge of the world/found over commitments. Only 1 member of the entire moderating team has even been active this month, some not active for years. Some ex staff I speak to frequently away from TIF, and I've met a few in person over the years. This place is just a blast from the past for me nowadays. It was quite hard to become a mod on this site, needed a lot of support from staff team whether it was from applications or being nominated. Wouldn't take it personally, probably a blessing in disguise. I wasted so much time on this site sorting staff quarrels out, banning bot after bot, it's hardly fun.. You'd think you'd simply ban and that's it but there was a system to follow which made it cumbersome. Don't lie you were lazy AF

the best "bug" i ever encountered was a system that would intermittently (and seemingly randomly) fail to send faxes. After several weeks of debugging and multiple hours on the phone with vendors, it turned out that the network cable was slightly loose and was being affected by vibrations of trucks driving by

and people think more government control of the internet (net neutrality) is going to be perfectly fantastic also, the US government passing retarded laws is by no means a new phenomenon
