  1. Dragon plate means little to me. They will be as common as any other melee item soon after all the high leveler's farm them a while. Surely it will still be pricey, but in terms of having an "eye" candy piece of gear, then the Dagon' hai robe set from that same quest beats it hands down. Think about it. Only available through doing the quest and you only get one set. Now unless you can drop, and pick up multiple sets like you can with ghost robes, then I assume this has to be one of the harder items in the game to get at the moment. (Anyone confirm if you can?) 265 qp is a hard requirement to get for a majority of the typical Scapers. (Thanks for the person who was nice enough to put a set up for 320k the morning after the quest in the GE. I appreciate it. 0_o ) If ya got your hands on a set... hang onto it for a bit. GE price is 800k at the moment, and in the streets... well got to watch those shady alleys. My point to all this... The stats are par on both the robes and the Dragon Plate, but it's just the prestige of having something others may not get so easily. Yay me.
  2. If the dragon plate body gets a graphic revamp soon, I believe much could change on its current sour outlook. It looks bad now. And I suspect many others share my view. I expect it to look like granite plate/Rune plate... but only red and black? (Or something!) I want the bulky, I am in your face, about to stomp your head look. You teased us with the awesome look of the dragon full-helm... then let us down. As far as falling prices... We must get out of the mentality of pre-GE/Trade cap-free times of years ago. The game changed that day, and an economy was born. Folks just have to figure out how to play that aspect of the game as well. Good luck!
  3. Dragon gear... These items have a real sense of history with this game. Granted I have only been playing since 11/06, I have been following the games progression since classic. Dragon weapons are still the mostly widely used, and feared among the game's current arnsonal. Poisoned dragon daggers... Dragon axes to cleave mighty Yews. That fabled Dragon 2-hander, dropped from that uber scary thing in the wild. With the exception of the few godswords and snazzy whips.... it is the poor man's weapon of choice. Now the armor in my eyes was never that good. Perhaps a bit better than rune for the meleers, but to a ranger or mage... hardly worth eyeing. Dragons are known for their fierce onslaught of power... while their armor may blunt many attacks... it is no match for the armor of the Gods. And thus should be so. Now alas... if the fabled dragon short bow comes to pass... and a special attack or summon ability granted to those who wear full dragon... then by all means, Jagex will continue to impress me with this wonderful game.
  4. Seeing how there are already 8 pages on this thread, and I have not read through them all, if I repeat someone's point already, I do apologize. Some believe cook, fletch, and fire making are "noob" capes. But imo, prayer, mage, and many others can be put into the same category. Buy bones and bury. Buy alch items and alch. It all depends on the money you have. Just about every skill can be bought or enhanced with money in one way or another. To many players, the whole point of this game is to get 99 in evertyhing... not all folks mind you, but some. So to me, noobie capes or not, they are accomplishments in one form or another. If someone calls you a noob, and doesn't possess a cape of their own.... chalk it up to some hateraide. And to those that refuse to get the "noob" capes just because they feel they won't get respected, give me a break. Go get that slayer cape. When I come by and show you 4 or 5 different capes and you show me the same ol emote over and over.... we will see who gets more praise. *shrugs*
  5. I believe it comes down to what you describe as "buying" a skill. You can in essence help buy just about every skill in one way or another, but I believe the average player understands when I say buying mage to 99. Buying a set amount of alchs and clicking the mouse 2 times... is far more easier then gearing up and going to hunt somewhere with chins, or the attention it takes to PC. As a matter of fact, I believe it is even easier to get than cooking or fletching. You can fill your entire pack with all the alchs, runes, and cash you get from it. Cooking and fletching you have to keep banking. Hence sitting and doing nothing but 2 clicks. That is a buy to me in its purity. I was just stating the ease in buying the mage skill over trying to raise range/melee skills. EDIT- You want an even easier way? Buy law runes and just Cammy port. Wow... 1 click.
  6. I think what many fail to realize, is that the magic skill, is the only one out of the triangle that can be "bought". You can't buy your way to 99 range/melee. I mean you can buy all the arrows, pots, and food you want, but you still have to go somewhere to fight a mob. Mage you can just sit all day in the GE and buy yew longs, or whatever you prefer, and alch to 99. This cape in essence, can be bought just like the noobie cook/fletch/Fire making. (No flamin' -you know it's true!) Besides alching, porting, or the rare pvp, mage isn't used by many for daily life. I do believe it needs a revamp of such, to make it a more viable and useful skill for other situations. -No need to add a 4th book- Just add a few more useful spells. Perhaps some that add hp/def/regen or something of that nature; but could only be cast/used when wearing a yet to be released mage armor set/Staff. This could help balance out the poor defense that mage armor adds, and perhaps offset the overpowered damage from Godswords/Darkbows. Just an idea.
  7. I actually have 3 Home Telly's in my house. 2 to cover all the normal ones... and 1 upstairs for the Ancients telly spot. (Cannifus) {Which makes using any of the 3 branches of magic more appealing, without the worry of odd telly spots.} I believe player-made homes are one of the least known assests for the typical runescaper. I hope they do an article on it soon.... or perhaps I should. :)
  8. Agi= 75 Fishing= 85 Range= 90 Fletch= 95 RC= 75 Con= 70 Herb= 80 Slayer= 85 Cook= 95 Hunter= 80 Smith= 80 Craft= 80 Magic= 95 Summon= 75 Farm= 75 Mine= 80 Thief= 75 FM= 90 Pray= 80 WC= 90. *Melee Stats*= 92 or so each. [Att,Str,Def] These are just my personal opinions. I believe the ease to "buy" materials, allows many of these skills to lose their awe factor. One-click and sit and wait skills also lose value in my eyes. (Fish/WC/Fletch) Summon- Farm- Thief- RC- Con- earn my most repsect. Especially Summon and Farm; just do to the sure cost and time needed. The pure skiller, "3" cb levelers, are just too constricted in where they can train and go, so after a few capes, they can't do much more. That being said, anyone with more than 3 capes, (minus quest) impresses me somewhat... no matter what level they are. :)
  9. I believe Tears of Guthix (weekly) and the Kingdom management are a must. It is free and easy xp/money. I can make 175k free a day just from the kingdom and playing the GE market. (takes 5 mins tops.) Other than that... I do the penguins/stars/etc., as I see them in my worldly travels. They are just added bonuses to the game. Something to do differently. Some melee, some skill, some pvp. Get where I am going with this? :)
