  1. tbh the only thing preventing magic from being effective in 1v1 situations is that mages cannot farcast effectively in a 1v1 situation. If a mage tries to farcast, chances are they will be rudely interrupted by another player. It doesn't help that many soloists don't see mages as honest 1v1 pkers and don't afford them the same respect they would to a solo ranger, or warrior. for this reason, it is impossible for a mage to be effective on its own in a 1v1 situation, unless there were only 2 players fighting each other with no others around.
  2. I've seen many of these mage is underpowered threads. I respectfully disagree. You ask whether I have ever seen an ancient mage win without farcasting. The thing is, ancient magic was meant to farcast with. A meleer in the typical metal armor is actually at a huge disadvantage against a mage that can freeze them and continue hitting them very accurately. Usually the meleer has to resort to magic prayer and hides. If the triangle was truly imbalanced, why would meleers need to switch armor and pray? The truth is, magic does beat a pure meleer. A meleer wearing hides is more of a hybrid than a pure meleer, since they are relying on their ranged skill as well. The truth is, mages > pure melee and hybrids > pure mage since they cover the other corners of the triangle. To answer the question of why you never see mages in single combat, it's simple. Because a mage is not built to take direct hits, they have no choice but to farcast. In a 1v1 situation, there are pkers everywhere that would love nothing more than to interfere. It doesn't help that the pk community at large hates farcasters. As for melee being superior to ranged, doesn't the triangle state that melee > ranged? I'd have to say the triangle is indeed an equilateral triangle.
  3. What is this less widely know training spot? Ghostly warriors, unlocked after the Spirit of Summer quest, located in the spirit portal by the axe hut near the ardougne lever. Reasons to go here? 1. Decent xp rate with the right gear and inventory, which I will show below 2. Excellent drops to go along with the xp 3. Very low crowds Recommended stats 60+ attack 60+ str 60+ def These are the setup and inventory I use, they last me about 6 hours. [hide=][/hide] Inventory Note that when you start, you should have 5-6 free inventory slots for drops Alch runes are essential, since these frequently drop steel platelegs and steel platebodies Dragon battleaxe and restore potions are to speed up training Bunyips are not required, but strongly recommended, as I doubt it's possible to last over 2 hours here on an inventory of food Jennica's ring is a must, since you must exit and enter through the spirit portal Ring of wealth is recommended, since they do improve the overall drops Lockpick is required to unlock the door to the hut Chisel is highly recommended, as you will encounter many gems. Cut them into bolt tips so they stack. I recommend you ignore sapphires. The equipment should have decent defense bonuses, rune at the least. Salve amulet is strongly recommended for the 15%-20% attack and strength bonus, depending on whether or not it is enchanted. Method Use your dragon battleaxe special, drink a restore potion to restore your stats. Have your auto retaliate ON. Once you enter the hut, the ghosts will attack you. They are level 42 and max at 5 occasionally. They should remain this way for the next 5-15 minutes. When they are no longer attacking you, exit the hut and run as far northwest of the hut as you can, before you get a message asking whether or not you wish to leave. Then run back to the hut and continue. This does not always work however, I find it stops working after 2 times. If this is the case, turn auto retaliate OFF, exit the portal and run south a bit. This works 100% of the time. Efficient bunyip usage When you begin your trip, do not call out your bunyip. Fight them till your hp is down to about 15, then call it out. Repeat this process once its time is up. This adds roughly 20-30 minutes to your stay for each bunyip. Notable drops Chaos Runes Cosmic Runes Soul Runes Mind Runes Steel Platebodies Steel Platelegs Uncut Emeralds Uncut Rubies Uncut Diamonds Rare Drops Spirit Shield Dragon Spear Shield Left Half Half of a Key Here are some sample trips for your benefit =P~ [hide=] [/hide] If you're feeling the need to train, by all means try this out. If not, more empty worlds for me
  4. Lootshare dishes out rewards based on lootshare points. You accumulate lootshare points by missing drops. The higher the value of the drop missed, the more lsp you get. Those people probably camped at graardor or some other high reward boss for a long time, thus gaining a great deal of lsp. since this was your first time, I can understand why that would happen to you.
  5. Ha, I used to be just like those pures. Until I started doing things other than pk in this game. I've since realized what a useful skill defense is to have.
  6. Tbh, armadyl is the most worthwhile godsword The only reason I would dump a load of cash for a godsword is for the sheer hitting ability Saradomin godsword- healing. There's guthans for that which is much better for consistent healing and costs way less Zamorak godsword- freeze. Ice barrage can do that, and you don't have to wait for a special bar. Bandos godsword- cheapest, which is the main reason people buy it. I definitely don't see myself chosing it over armadyl.
  7. I was training ranged with black knives when I got this as a drop.... I have edited your title to reflect the change of forums. Feel free to change it again if you desire ~tripsis
  8. Most of the time I did take the loot and I've been getting more experienced at it.
