  1. You could be well true on this matter, but you still are using the idea of what partyhats have become in this market post- december 2007, more of a trading tool rather than a desired object which it was prior to december 2007. When the market returns to a free market, the partyhat could change its role back to what it used to be, and hence this is why I think it will not crash along with the release of the new godwars equipment. Even if there is a return of players with rares I am highly doubtful this will have any affect in the price of rares, because firstly when they were bought post-dec 2007 they were bought as an investment or desired object (to show players wealth), and will probably not be sold and any that are may not cause any surplus in supply. Even during the period between the announcement of the removal of free trade and its actual removal there was still oppotunities for players to sell off/give away or trade to their other accounts. Id also like to reitterate my point that I did clearly state in my first response that the GE may not be an accurate reflection in how the market is reaction regarding to partyhats.
  2. @To the writer regarding economic rollercoaster: Surely my thoughts on this would be that the rares market would not crash. Prior to 12th december 2007, the rares market was the equivalent of todays (real world) gold market (an investment that would never go in reverse, however reading James Howard Kunstlers blog that could call for discrepancy). If jagex are to remove the restricted trade and opening up a free market again, the rares would seem an investment forcing the prices up, and with the release of the new boss drops probably attractive extremely high prices would bolster the rares even further. Greater cash flow with the best armour going to the highest bidder would start a frenzy as the rich scramble to get hold of the new releases. Another reason why I somewhat disagree with your article (but I do respect that this is your opinion and you have you own share of thoughts to express), is that looking at the price of the blue partyhat has been increasing and the same rate, even after the mention of the possible reinstatement of free trade and the wilderness. Though of course this may not be an accurate reflection on whats really going on (another fault of the grand exchange of which i despise so much!). On skillers; keep stocking up, your definatly in an advantageous position to make a lot of money on these 2 major updates. Yet don't be caught at the mercy of the bottom rung, the players who collect the raw materials possibly the backbone of the whole situation and these too can use the high demand for basic materials to there advantage. This infact could lead to mid-level items raising in price with the amount of unskilled players selling basic supplies for a good profit, on the other hand this is just speculation and I could be completely wrong. On conclusion i did enjoy reading your article
  3. I think people say slayer is good for combat training no just for exp, the exp is much slower than simply training on monsters, but slayer can make the training more fun and varied. I used to train my combat stats on gorrila guards at ape atoll, but i found this very boring. Slayer however gives you a variety of things to train on making the task in hand less tedious if you plan to aim for a level.
  4. A partyhat would still be continued, if you take into the account that a cracker is a partyhat then they are still discontinued, yes more will be added into circulation but will only be limited to the number of crackers left. However the amount of people who quit with party hats still left on the account that are not sold back into circulation will be the opposite effect of opening a cracker. So infact partyhats are still discontinued whether or not crackers are opened or not. A better question would be will one day would partyhats be totally eradicated from circulation if the people with party hats had eventually quit the game without selling the partyhat into the market.
  5. This frustration is literally scaring off potential new pkers, which used to keep a good circulation of different pkers to fight, but at the moment it isn't happening.
  6. I find the fact that being called a safer has to be one of the most stupid ideas to be thought-up of. Originally, to be called a safer was to stop other Pkers from eating at maximum hp everytime they were hit (so 90%+) at the time this was acceptable, many of the weapons at the time could not deal that much damage whips could hit up to 41 tops and that was the most powerful weapon before godswords/d claws/dfs etc. Even at this time, a combination of high hits would be rare so having your hp at around 60% of your max would be acceptable and you would rarely die. Nowadays you can barely eat above 50hp before a hurl of insults such as safing and noob etc, shortly before they teleport out or run saying "safe 1 more and i run/tele" yet they are hitting 65+ damage including venge of up to 30 and don't forget recoils aswell! Ok maybe you should only risk what you can afford to loose, as a rule of thumb i do myself, but PKing is meant to be fun (I myself really enjoy it from time-to-time) but to be consistantly dying to please another player who calls you a safer isn't fun in my case. Calling someone a safer when you have the most powerful weapon in the game including the deadliest combination of armour and vegeance is taking the p#ss i beleive. Now with the introduction of dragon claws - possibly the most powerful weapon when using its 4 hit spec it is vital to keep your hp at a relativly high amount (60+) to ensure you survive, any pker knows that when you go pking in a fight you try your best to survive? Even now it is almost impossible to survive a 1 hit, only recently i was 1 hitted from over 100hp from 1 spec from dragon claws (very unlucky) and was down and out for over 20m gear :wall:. In a fight would you really tell another person to stop safing when you have such a strong weapon? You may aswell ask them to hand over the items and save the fuss of fighting. To reiterate my point i believe that the idea of calling someone a safer has gotten out of hand and is killing off the true experience of pking - to fight for your own survival, and the irony being the people to call you the safer are usually the first to be running away in the fight or teleporting away . So whenever i get called a safer, i just eat anyways :shame:
  7. I find it sometimes rather annoying \ mind you i got a dragon fire shield (my 2nd  [first 1 was at mb in 2007]) from a guy in basic rune gear :?
