Er, isn't it possible the laptop just went to sleep? It only goes to sleep when I close it. It gets really annoying when I'm trying to download something overnight. I have to keep it open and it's right next to my bed. So [bleep]ing bright You can change the power settings, you know... so that when you close the lid, nothing happens. Control panel > power options > select your preferred plan > change plan power settings for that plan > put the computer to sleep never > change advanced power settings > hard disk > turn hard disk off after 0 minutes (never) > power buttons and lid > lid close action > do nothing I didn't know about that.
