Well every person except Ross and someother person I can't remember, has had a bad effect. I tried changing into shadow, and I coulnd't interact with anything anymore so I had to die. I think Igos or someone tried turning something into a skeleton or something and got completely turned into one, I think they died and it went.

No, that was loot (which she stole from me, by accident). You can attempt it, but quite a lot of the time you get an effect you don't really want.
