Dragon crossbow soon?
Anoobwith99defence replied to Anoobwith99defence's topic in General Discussion
I just hope you know that underpowered/overpowered has nothing to do with how slow or costly a skill is to train....... There goes 75% of your argument right there. Open these two links in different tabs and compare the defensive stats: Range gear and Mage gear It's not much of a difference at all in defensive stats. btw the fact that armadyl is (in some people's opinion) the hardest boss in gwd and uses range doesn't mean anything because well last time I checked kree wasn't a player.... Yes I do know that being under and overpowered have nothing to do with how slow etc it is. If you read my post you'd see that I was merely illustrating why Rangers should not get something new when they have so many different methods of training and killing open to them, especially over powered forms; whereas mages don't. Maybe you didn't read it thoroughly enough, or my points got lost in transition, I don't know. But still. I also based my arguement around what I quoted above with one guy saying that range is extremely underpowered. And unfortunately the links opened with blank setups. Tell me what your setups consisted of and I'll take a look. And no Kree isn't a player, it's merely a fact showing how something using range can be extremely powerful. Also the fact that you have to use range to kill it should speak volumes too. This thread has nothing to do with whether or not range deserves a new weapon. Well that's annoying <_< It was this: Range set up: Helm- Arma Necklace- fury Plate- arma Legs- arma Boots- ranger Gloves- barrows Cape- accumulator Ring- acrher(i) Weapon- rune crossbow Shield- dragonfire shield Mage set up: Helm- Ahrims Necklace- fury Plate- ahrim Legs- ahrim Boots- infinity Gloves- barrows Cape- god cape Ring- seers(i) Weapon- Staff of light Shield- dragonfire shield I still think we shouldn't involve npcs in the topic of underpowered/overpowered styles of attacks. The thing is kree's weak to range if kree was weak to mage then we'd have to use mage to kill it. That's just the way jagex made it idk why but it is. Maybe they'll make a boss that's weak to mage and strong against range and melee (DKS Rex) -

By Jagex's standards I believe the SOL counted as a part of that. No, it was the mages equivilent of a godsword. Hence it's 75 Magic/Attack requirement and usefullness. Which would mean it's "high level" gear... -

Hmm, you sound like one of those kids who doesn't actually PK but still thinks you know alot about it and the people who do PK. Something constructive to say about that would be nice... Instead of a useless post to insult someone. He's talking about stuff he doesn't understand. What more is there to do but insult the guy? Maybe explain why you think he doesn't understand? Being an [wagon] doesn't get you anywhere tbh Then a swarm of non-PKers would descend upon me and begin chastising me for being a no-good dirty PKer. I think I'll stick with the insult. Good day sir. Maybe you should just not post if you have nothing useful to say but think you do but yet you still won't say it. Seriously just say it the only people I've seen insult someone about a comment so far is you and I don't think you'll insult yourself. -

Instead of a useless post to insult someone. The you need to take another look at ranged because it is far more underpowered than melee or mage atm. Dragon crossbow is something range needs to become part of the combat triangle again. (and if it fails like the hc i will will blow up Jagex ) I completely disagree. Ranged hasn't gotten any updates lately, but it's far from underpowered. Morrigan's weapons, dragonstone bolts, and handcannons are all heavy hitters. Ranged is still a big contender. This isn't directed at you but mainly the fact that you included a pvp item in the unbalanced combat triangle discussion which aren't used for pvm often with the exception of swh: A lot of people seem to judge the balancedness(ya that's right I just made up a word) of the combat triangle on just pvp... You gotta get past that and look at everything. Just saying that pvp isn't the only place the combat triangle affects. -

True. It really is sad how a lot (not all) of pkers label people as a sad noob if they use good items instead of the crap the other person uses. That shouldn't be a factor as to when it's rebalanced or not because it's not a factor... it's just a bunch of little kids crying over something they're too cheap or don't have the level to use. -

Well that sucks.... But it's odd because a dragon crossbow (to me at least) seems like it would be high level gear. I would kind of agree, but the SOL is so badass that I don't see how they could add anything else to magic without making it overpowered for the first time in years. I'd say that the triangle is mostly perfect right now. Not everything deals with PvP ya know. I'd whip out a random statistic, but I think it's easy enough to say that not even half the players of this game PvP enough to even notice the combat triangle. If it's PvM we are talking about, then the combat triangle is no where near being balance. The best way to analize the system is by taking a step back and figuring out what style of combat is used the most. If the same amount of people use range as much as they use mage, and mage to melee to range to melee again, then the system would have no need to be changed. However that is not the case because Magic costs way too much to use and it doesn't have a high hit rate on all monsters, thus making it imbalanced because who would use Mage when you can use range or melee well over 1/10 of the cost. Range is not used as much as melee because if you want to actually train it with a reasonable cost you won't hit nearly as good. Not to mention every monster is created with melee being it's top priority, because there really aren't that many intentional safe spots in this game. Range and mage would be used more if there were monsters with safespots that hit so much and through prayer that tanking would be stupid to do. Simple to say, it's hard to range or mage when you might as well melee since you're going to be tanking anyways. I don't pvp so I have no idea about the combat triangle in pvp. But with the recent release of the hexcrest along with the staff of light release jagex seems to be trying to make pvm mage a little more practical or at least worth using mage to slay some tasks. I'm just gonna throw this out there too, I don't think the fact that there aren't many safe spots affects how many people use range for pvm that greatly. -
I know, unless staff of light actually turns out to be good for zamorak, there are no ground breaking things in it. I was actually considering just making this into a zamorak tanking guide since almost everyone knows how to tank bandos and it's so easy it requires next to no skill. But zamorak actually requires some skill and a lot of people don't know much about good ways to tank him. Besides there is already a guide out there for bandos but no zamorak tanking guide. Should I do that? Of course I would save the bandos section somewhere just in case I need it again.

Maybe, but they also said it's not likely they will release a new spell book to do it. What else can they do besides a new spell book? -
So a long time ago in a developers blog mod mark answered a question that asked: "Ok i really only got one question that has probably already been asked, but are you guys planning to introduce a dragon crossbow anytime soon?" which he replied with: "yes, but not until we have rebalanced the combat triangle.". Does anyone think the combat triangle has been rebalanced with the release of the staff of light or at least as good as it's going to get? And do you think this would mean we could be getting a dragon crossbow in the near future if that's the case. Here's the link to the developers blog if you want to read it. developers blog

Just updated guide with the newer way to tank zamorak. Kept the first method in it though for people under 95 prayer and 88 summoning. Also changed the duo/trio section of zamorak to just method two (the newer way to tank zamorak) so higher requirements for it now of course. Also added a couple tips: soul split info and a note about extremes/overloads Thanks again Cantristenon

Wow never even thought of that lol definitely gonna go do that now. EDIT: Just did two trips praying mage with full guth (I didn't have a sgs though) and I liked it but I found that on some kills he would all of the sudden get some combos in with his melee attack and hit a good bit of hp from me. I could see this working great with a sgs but I was lacking the sgs, I was using soul split to heal on the minions. Of course it probably didn't help that the two people I did this with both weren't exactly high levels. I'm probably gonna do a couple more trips but with higher level people then add this into the guide somewhere if that's ok.

I got the new prayers and I will be testing them at bandos after I get 92 prayer, I have tested them at other monsters though and they own :D This is how I would think they should be used to tank: Pray deflect melee while killing graardor and k'ril obviously Pray leech defence (not sure if it's really needed yet) while killing him. Sap warrior or another leech prayer might also be good in a 4+ team **Pray turmoil while killing him(applies to a duo/trio team) When graardor is dead pray soul split (assuming 92 prayer) and kill the ranger like always **In a decent clan of 4+ people I don't think turmoil would be needed but it would definitely help **High level monsters are considered to have the same stats as a maxed player, 99/99/99 Still working on getting the charms for 88 summoning also but um I'm about to spend like 18m on prayer soooooo could be awhile Slowly editing the guide to include curses
-
I'm just gonna say this one more time...... that's assuming the person has 88+ summoning. Also, heal other and other mage spells are in one of those broken hide tags <_< I guess I'll just remove the broken hide tags even though that's going to make the guide much longer. EDIT: removed the broken hide tags and changed a lot of stuff. :P
-
Wow that's a lot of stuff lol gonna take it on in pieces. Again, this guide isn't only focused on people with 88+ summoning and a saradomin godsword, which is why I did not have this as the strategy but if you'd like I could add this for 88+ summoners. After I get 88 summoning I plan on going back to do a lot more tanking(I have the charms for 87 atm getting close) :-P Thanks :-D what do you mean magic section this is a tanking guide???? :-? If you mean like things to use such as vengeance and heal other, it's in one of the broken hide tags that I can't figure out how to fix :wall: I have a feeling this guide is going to have a semi big update after I get 88 summoning and tank for a few days. EDIT: oh ya I don't check this guide too often, maybe once every like 2 days so I wouldn't count on really fast replies.

I'm now slowly working on getting 87 or 89 herblore(I have some greenmans ale(m)) to test extreme pots tanking. I think using extreme pots might affect what the inventories should be. And super prayers will definitely affect it but that's a long way off from where I am. If anyone has tried these it would be great if you told me how they are tanking at bandos and zamorak :^_^:

Tanking Zamorak and Bandos the awesomeness Way! THIS IS THE SAME GUIDE I'M POSTING IT UNDER A NEW ACCOUNT NAME AND HAVING THE GUIDE UNDER MY OTHER ACCOUNT NAME REMOVED FOR VARIOUS REASONS :) Table of Contents 1. Introduction 2. How to get to GWD 3. Bandos 4. Zamorak 5. Duo/trio tanking 6. Tanking Zamorak and Bandos 7. Miscellaneous thing about GWD that you need to know (tips, summoning at GWD, etc.) 8. Final Notes 9. Credits 1. Introduction This guide will be on how to tank at Bandos and Zamorak. This guide will include: recommended requirements, equipment, what familiar to use, where to stand, how to tank the boss, etc. The first two sections of this guide are about the gear and inventories to bring, keep reading for information on how to tank the bosses and more. This is the second time this guide has been posted but this version has a lot more details and is more organized then the last one. A few notes on things mentioned throughout the guide: All potions that have an extreme pot alternative (such as prayer potions) should be swapped with them allowing for longer trips. If you have under 92 prayer use normal prayers if you have over 92 use curses. Curses are obtained after completing the quest The Temple at Senntisten (this is a link to the tipit guide) ummm probably more coming soon when I find things. 2. How to get there and where to get the kill count Getting There The almighty Oo'glog pools! Obtaining Bandos Killcount Obtaining Zamorak Killcount 3. Preparing for Bandos Bandos tanking armor focuses on range defense because you will be praying melee and Graardors' secondary attack is ranged. This boss is definitely recommended to fight if it is your first time tanking. Use the Oo'glog pools before coming here so you don't need a bandos item, otherwise you will need one. Also, there are zamorak monsters but you can just run by them if you don't want to bring a zamorak item. The Oo'glog pools require the quest "as a first resort" completed. (the how to get there and where to get kill count has the Oo'glog pools included in it) Requirements and Gear
