  1. I'll wager that this update is delayed by a 'complication', and doesn't get released for another few months.

Most likely guess so far. Or they are going to release some article next week telling us how it will be released sometime in mid-2010.

  2. It seems I need to stop guessing. As Sherlock Holmes says, it is a capital mistake to theorize before you have all the facts.

One of my mysterious contacts is claiming that NPCs have new dialogue, including Seers in Seers Village and people in Witchaven, and also the mage in the Abyss. I'm going to try to get some screenies.

you might be a few hours late my friend

You are very perceptive. I won't bother with those screenies unless i find something new I guess.

  4. It may be a sea slug quest but in the original picture there is clearly an ancient/Zaros staff as well as an Ahrim's staff being held by the figures. I'm not sure if that is just reflections of players but I don't see anyone with either an ancient or AH staff in the picture so I would assume it is not.

Nice eyes! Upon closer examination, that appears to be a Zaros army from the shadow realm.

BWAHAHA MY LORD RETURNS AT LAST

  5. [hide]

This may be shaping up to the next Sea Slug quest

am I the only one who finds the slug storyline really boring? especially with those embarrassing children chat heads (that are quite scary actually)

OK can you tell us where you put MHL and why you have her brain?

    opinion=/=crazy troll

it's the only quest storyline i really dislike lol

    strikes a resemblance?

yeah that's a good match, and if the witchhaven villagers' chat is related then it looks like this is what we're in for.

doesn't really explain why jagex are making such a big deal out of it, and the event happening across f2p too.

unless they're just trying to disguise the trail (i.e not making the event happen only to people who've completed slug quests so far)

For my third random guess in under five minutes, I am going to say that the slug queen was successful in her plan of making one slug for every human on Gielinor, and now we are all infected. Except for me, because I was eating dinner.

So what, the slugs are inside of us...or...???

    They are eating your brain.

I am sorry for your loss.

  7. Oh, darn, why am I never on to see these things.

Looks like a hint towards next week's update to me. If it is true that everyone turned to face GWD, then I believe our mysterious door will be opening very soon  Hopefully this is the new dungeon with the death mechanic, and also the "from below it devours" from the CE letter as well.

On a slightly related note, I believe the new death mechanic will be on a timer. The area behind the Frozen Door seems to be underwater, therefore, it's only logical we will have a specific air supply, and must complete our goals in that area within a set amount of time.

No they didnt face Gwd, They face north east of the Wild (check the picture on first post) Looking the way of the wilderness volcano

    AMG dragonkins=eastern lands=SAILING@

    But seriously, AMG Dragonkins?

Anyways, that graveyard is glorious! How the hell and why the hell did they do it though?

The world is ending, it is only logical to commit suicide so we can move on to Runescape heaven peacefully. I herd they has cookies and SAILING.

  10. I would also like to join at some point, if the game starts working that is :wall: stupid thing is stuck at the loading part every time I try to login.

Edit: Alright, I'm giving up for now. It was working earlier, so it can't be a problem with my computer. I restarted, still got the same screen. I'll just wait for them to work out the bugs.

  11. I made an account, but either I'm doing something wrong or the game is. The screen just stayed still, and didn't change when I clicked the blue squares to build. So I refreshed and loaded it again, but now it just freezes at "Loading-100%".

In other words, hai im a noob and wat is this?

  12. I'd rather have untradeable armor come out of DIY stuff. Collecting matierals, make the armor, and make it just for yourself and make that the only way to obtain it.

I agree. This actually seems to be the direction Jagex is going. If you look at recent high level updates, you have to actually have the level to benefit from the update. Jagex also said something about how people who were used to being able to buy the highest level equipment are going to be frustrated, which leads me to believe the high level smithing update will work in the same way, so high level smiths will be the ones with access to the armor.

Of course, this is a little extreme. Maybe the armor would also be a drop from a boss?

  13. I wonder if this new item can be used for pvp or boss-hunting videos or other combat related videos, or if there will be limitations strictly for machinima. I am interested to see how this turns out!

It was my understanding that it would be used in the weapon slot, and would have bad combat bonuses. So you would need an extra person to come stand on the sidelines and record.

  14. Lol suicide against the law. What are they gonna do, cuff the body?

This is really ridiculous. Yes, Jagex should act on IRL threats, but only those that are serious. I don't want to worry about the cops showing up at my house if I make some sarcastic comment about my failures.

Of course, we don't know the actual wording used in the situation.

  15. 1263117263900.gif

    WTF.

I also dislike smokers, but only when they are actually smoking. I walk past a hangout for smokers when there's no snow on the ground, and the stench is just terrible. Plus they all have strange voices and obnoxious laughs.

Also, those kids who walk around the school with their three friends thinking they're all tough, when really everyone thinks they're [wagons].

Oh, and people who read some commentary, or watch a youtube video, and then consider themselves experts on the subject. Especially if they then go around pretending to know what they're talking about, when really they are saying something ridiculous. Seriously, just go be idiotic somewhere else. Post it in a youtube comment or something.

  16. Also like ive said earlier in the thread, anyone who says the storyline consists of "Go kill Nomad", didnt read the dialogue and just skipped everthing to get the reward to then critisize the quest for having no storyline.

This. I really cannot understand the complaints that this quest was lacking in plot or storyline. This quest has huge implications for future Mahjarrat quests.

    +1

We are exposed to a completely different outlook on the majharrat storyline. From the dialogues we can conclude that Lucien is probably Nomad's old master, and sent the dark knights to kill him. This makes us ask whether nomad is actually our friend, if he is Lucien's enemy. This might be why he said, "You have doomed this world [to Lucien?]". The only reason he attacks us is because we intrude in on his lair, at the request of an imp. No plot? Think again tbh.

This is exactly what I was trying to say, without accusing people of skipping through the quest. And on the topic of alliances, Lucien could actually end up being our ally depending on what he plans to do with his power.

  17. All these complaints about the story need to be real. If you read the words, you would have noticed that this had much more story than "Cook's Assistant", and many other quests, it just left many questions unasked. In addition, this has huge potential for development and sequels, where as Cook's Assistant barely squeezed out a loosely related sequel. I liked RFD, but tbh that story was just sort of random.

Nomad's Requiem will play an important role in the Mahjarrat storyline, and we can definitely expect to see Nomad and Zimberfizz again. Just because the quest created new questions instead of answering old ones doesn't mean the story was lacking.

You missed the point. It wasn't because the quest had a lacking plot that we were upset. It was because it was a Grandmaster Quest and was lacking plot. GM quests should be up to their nipples in plot.

Perhaps. It seems to me this has a lot more plot than you are giving it credit for though. It was a bit on the short side, but it seems to be just the tip of the iceberg. Anyways, the alternative would be to make it Master, which would make it an extremely difficult Master quest, so they would have to lower the combat stuffs, which would just make it lame. Plus it's important for Nomad to be powerful in this quest cause they can't randomly make him powerful in a sequel when they decide to add a nice story to it.

I'm sure Jagex was having this discussion before the release. It really comes down to people's opinions on what a GMQ should have. It is my opinion that the story potential combined with the difficulty of this quest make it Grandmaster, but I understand why you would think otherwise.

  19. I read it, but I'm not quite sure what you are trying to say. Are you saying humans mislead themselves by claiming to be better than other life forms? Or are you saying all our satisfactions and desires come from instincts that are present in most animals? Both are true.

I think it's also important to point out that many things that give us satisfaction are really artificial. If you had been taught your whole life that green beans are the most delicious thing in the world, you would find them satisfying.

On the topic of self-interest : Of course everything we do is self-serving. There really is nothing that does not have some motive. Even if I were to go do something random, it would be because I wanted to prove you wrong, or mislead myself into thinking that I had done something that was not self-serving. In doing this, I would just be proving the statement right.

  20. I'm wondering that too..

    Isn't it...

    Saradomin - Order

    Zamorak - Chaos

    Guthix - Balance

    Armadyl - Justice

    Bandos - War

    Zaros - Unknown, possibly Neutral?

Yes this is correct (except I believe Saradomin is law) but I didn't feel like typing out some long paragraph. Yes, Armadyl has never done anything evil according to the little information we have on him so far, but Saradomin is far from perfect. His followers teamed with those of Zamorak to hunt down the last powerful Zarosians and eliminate the Zarosian empire, and then practically erased it from history. I guess what I'm trying to say is Jagex's characters are not one-sided, and actually have some depth (well most of them do - I've been hearing some ugly things about Nomad's Requiem ;) ). So you can't really call a war between the Gods "black and white".

I may be wrong, but unless there is some large plot in the works or a connection I have missed, the only solid connection to the GWD is the number 4.
