Throw me a bone, Stork. Is it just a medival game or what?

Mechanists of Aiur
In the spirit and form of the game I'm deriving this from, I'm only using two mineral types. Gas for the powering of machines and such, and Minerals, to provide the framework for the machines, and to build weapons and excetera. Also, this is mostly about building what you can to murder faster, better, and easier. You could go from a Psionic slinging ninja man (Within reason) Or a hard core builderwho builds entire structures on the move. It can be your choice. Of course, I could always lock the choices into special classes, if that is preferred.

Mechanists of Aiur
Let me get this straight, you want a class who has some bonuses to combat and can change Minerals to Vespene gas, and vice versa?

I kinda just made a thread for it already. Izzat okay?

Yeah, but that'd make me feel like a douche when I took over Secretary. I'd just want to figure out ways to invest and prosper, increase group efficiency and equipment, production and rescource, and hagggle like a bastard, Thats always fun.

The Fireplace
Because power over the paperwork that gets things done around the Guild makes it far mroe powerful than most think?

Question, Archie. Why would anyone choose the Secretary?

Mechanists of Aiur
You little buggers can look at this now, and then ask questions.
[hide=Now it's finished.]
Story:
The current day templar are composed of idiots. They can't even handle highly secretive, super technology without something going horribly wrong. And all you can do about is damage control. Recover, or destroy, as much of the lost information as you can.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Professions:
You're job, basically. The nuances can be decided by yourself (Bio) but it's broken up into three classes, and three subclasses.
Commando subclasses are Ground, Air, and Grand Command. Architect subclasses are the Meistro, Combat engy, and the Shipwright. Diplomat subclasses are the Infiltrator, Emissary and the Psychic.
Commando: The one who kills things the best.

Ground Command: Uses ground based weaponry and Prototypes the best, basically. Starting skills are:Ground Specialization, Linking (Using Prototypes) and Running.

Air command: Like ground command, but with flying. Skills are:Piloting, Airial combat, Linking (Prototypes)

Grand Commander: The armchair general path, you're a terrible up-close-and-personal fighter but you have bonuses for commanding autonomous prototypes and other troops to battle. Skills: Morale booster, Team aim, Commanding.

Architect: He builds things.

Building Meistro: You make things like warp gates, refineries, and so on quickly and efficiently. Skills are: Construction, Planning, Toolmaster.

Combat Engineer: You're specialization is making combat prototypes and vehicles, and on the spot repairs. Skills are: Quick repair, Vehicle construction, Secret Techniques.

Shipwright: You make spaceships. And airships. Skills are: Spaceship construction, Airship construction, Speedy construction.

Diplomats: A kinder name for a bloody sneak.

Infiltrator: You can sneak in and steal things very well. Also good for assasinations. Skills are: Sneaking, Assasination, Theivery.

Emmissary: You can finagle with the various factions with finesse, making them see your side of things. Skills are: Charisma, Running, Bargaining.

Psychic: You use psyonic energies to cause havoc everywhere. Skills are: Psionic manipulation, Mind Games, Detection.
------------------------------------------------------------
Mechanics:
This is practically like Dungeoneering. I'll roll for resonable actions, and also for missions. Depending on the rolls you'll be given a mission of a certain difficulty and objective. (So if you get double ones you'll get an absolutely horrendous destruction objective.)
At the beginning of the session I'll ask for people who want to take part in the current mission and whoever else wants to skip it can go work on things on worlds they have permission to go to. (Missions open up new worlds to exploit/use/whatever)
At the end of the session I'll give you a number of points that you can spend however you like in your skills, but only skills you have unlocked. For example, if you have 4 skills and get 4 points, you can put 1 point in each, or 4 points in one. But you can't use them to get a 5th skill. Gaining skills must be done in session.
[/hide]
Questions? Also, Sessions will be on sundays, 3pm EST. We'll see how that works out.

Okay, so I rolled a dice over my idea and ended up with Protoss. So Protoss it is. Name of the game: Mechanists of Aiur. [hide=Basic Story] What a mess. You're part of the elite mechanical designers and construction crew, and today after drinking your morning cup of (Sadly dwindling) Aiur Brand Coffee, you find that these ham handed Templar divison mechanics have either lost or destroyed all of the lovely prototype battle mechs you and your crew have been designing and refining. After a bought of extreme anger, you go and inform the rest of your crew of your new mission. Find out how the Templar could have lost ALL of their Prototypes, kill any Zerg you encounter, and either recover, obliterate, or remake the Prototypes you find in order to keep them from falling into very wrong hands. [/hide] [hide=Game basics] As in the Story, you are a part of the team who needs to find out what happened to all of the very valuable protossian prototypes. As in, you NEED to find them, and that is your overriding mission in almost any situation... Unless you decide to ignore it, for whatever reason. You won't be going into battle with just yourselves and your weapons however, you will be allowed to design Protoss Mechs along the way to either board and control, or to unleash and cause havoc amoungst your enemies. You'll have to pay for them in Minerals, and Vespene Gas, which you will receive after a sucsessful Reclaimation, Rebuild, or Obliteration. You will be starting off as the basic Zealot, as youlack the time or the finances to get anything more powerful at this time.. Although, for your first mission, you will be accompanied by other fighters, but don't count on that in the future. [/hide] [hide=Game stuff] A few Game Terms.. Reclamation: An objective where you try to recover any blueprints, actual prototypes, or the like from enemy hands before they are used to either make, or work, the powerful war machines. The most rewarding objective, But only in terms of resources. Rebuild: Sometimes you find prototypes in a very bad state... And you have the time or the fire power to buy that time to remake the Proto. If you do so, you'll regain that prototype as your own. You'll gain less resources than you would for a Reclamation, but you'll at least gain a prototype to work with. Obliteration: This objective is only issued if the enemy has gained control of multiple Blueprints and is able to use them. Your objective here is to, literally, obliterate everything and everything, indcluding the plans if necessary. This is the LEAST rewarding objective, in terms of resources, but you may be able to snag some plans to fiddle with, or loot more powerful weapons and armor if you don't just nuke everything. And now, the Character: [hide= Character Design] Name: (Insert name here) Profession: (I'm giving you some freedom here. Make your own profession if you wish. But you need to give me a REASONABLE benefit for me to agree to it.) Weapon: Plasma Blades, standard for all characters at the start of the game. Armor: Protossian Infantry Armor, level one. Items: Added to in games. [/hide] And, as a final note, you can only make Prototypes you have blueprints for, and already made Prototypes can only be modified slightly. if you want to make new blueprints, THAT will be difficult very early into the game. Due to both cost, and other reasons.. [/hide] And finally, Players. [hide=Player List] Emptyyyy, oh so empttyyyyy.. [/hide]

So I got two people willing to try my game... Any others, and your preferences for the stroy? Got one Terran.
-
The Fireplace
Not what I mean. With Terran I'd say something along the lines of a new breed of psionic supersoldIer who start by escaping a containment facility. Zerg would be a strain of highly mutative zerglings whO could change rapidly between Zerg strain to Zerg strain. Queen of blades sent you out to test you. Protoss... Hmm. A team of highly trained mechanics sent to field test and make repairs of your factions various prototypes and war machines.
-
The Fireplace
I need a general opinion before I can work on my idea. Do people who want to play my game want to do a story as Zerg, Protoss, or Terran? Then I can start figuring stoof out.
-
The Fireplace
I'd have to figure which of the races I'd use..
-
The Fireplace
Hmm. I keep thinking up games, but I think I keep making them too complex. Gruh. Although I was considering doing something along the lines of an sc2 game... Anyone interested? I'd be basing it off the dungeoneering plate.

The Back Room
That'd be awesome, Fura. Also Mather, I think res just means that there shouldn't be a thread for that bexause it's outside the Taverns jurisdiction. I don't really agree, but maybe limit it to something like a post on the gaming thread that you'll host a group chat for a game On steam or IRC or some such so it's neater.
-
The Back Room
Wait, what? It's SUPOSED to do that. What I mean is, with that, is that people can make a game idea on the 'archive post' for their person, and then bump the thread. People can still discuss it, but instead of digging through tons of crap to find out whatit is, you just go to the archive post of the person who made the ideaso you can get the gist of it.
-
The Back Room
And no-one else had an opinion on my idea, game only thread, one post with actual information on it, bump when you add something new..
-
The Back Room
Oh. Thats... .. Bogus. Pretty much.. Unless it's assumed they're taken one on one. Then it's half plausible.
-
The Back Room
With one man each? If you had an extreme training regime where everyone was able to kill tons and tons of people. Which I doubt. The attacks would come to nothing. You'd have to group at a central point, to actually take the land, while your enemy takes out your forces, one by one, on the way.
-
The Back Room
Iprefer it to be a case by case basis, with different factors going in. Rules can be bended and broken.
-
The Back Room
No, mather. Wrong on both counts.
-
The Back Room
Stop with the Mspaintadventures refs, Mather. Please. Anyways, I really prefer this thread as it is, but hell, I could just start up a new thread for game discussions. One post per person for ideas. Then, if one person has a new idea, they edit and bump so we know what persons post we need to look at.

The Back Room
I've been playing a rather fun game, Rusty Hearts. Arcade style, based somewhat off of Castlevanyia, with a new story-line, fun characters and dialogue, and a story that makes SENSE. In the fact that its not a bunch of random characters joining a fight for the hell of it, and they actually have good reasons for joining. And reasons why they won't tell their whole stories straight out. Also, looking forward to End of Nations, first and foremost, and then maybe Tera. Edit: Also, keep the thread as it is. I'd rather like to keep this place as a place to ask questions, maybe about homework or just general opinions, without having to remember what forum to go to, what thread, and what page it is in a different part of Tip.It. Edit 2: ... Y'know. I really can't say anything about this anymore. We've got Mather whinging and whining about his life and blaming others on the Tavern, Lei trying to deal with her problems by blurting them all over the place (Actual or perceived, I can't tell, there's no filter for that kind of thing in real life.), the veterans are leaving because of all that. Thats the sad part. This place was awesome. It had Hegenomy, which althoguh I couldn't make heads or tails of it and probably would have gotten Mexico nuked if I hadn't quit, and Dungeoneering which was my favourite game. Then Space, which just made verything more fun, and crazy. We all went together with that even if we hardly ever worked together. And then shit fell apart. Now it's back to people leaving and whining and complaining (I'm not exempt from this) and saying 'Everythings going to hell'. So why are we letting it? Just.. [bleep]ing hell. Why don't we just make one thread. One. One thread thats for making a new game after suficient down time from the last one. We all contribute ideas. We all work on it. We choose a mod who we know will do it right. We play the game. and see what happens from there. Does that sound cool?

Battles IN SPACE
Of all the times for my computer to break down. Hah. If I get it back before this runs out, I'll try it.
