  1. So here is my situation:

    I am 92 Prayer.

I am 93 Summoning (including banked charms).

    I have roughly 80 Effigies.

My skillset covers the opening of every effigy (once i finish off a few cooking levels) excluding 95+ Sum/RC effigies.

    And here is my problem:

Unfortunately I have had bad luck in that a large percentage of my effigies are RC/Summ

I can either get assists for my 95+ RC effigies, and then have enough Dragonkin Lamps to do 92-95 prayer.

Or I can save the 95+ Sum effigies, until such a time as I can use them.

So the question is, which would you choose?

Faster 95 Prayer, or 800k+ free summ xp down the line.

I have never liked to waste an effigy, hence I have ensured my skillset can cover them. Unfortunately, getting charms for 95, maybe 97 Summ would take quite some time. Not helped by not having Turmoil for it.

    Thank you for your opinions.

Edit: A point made within the responses

Slayer lvl? (Sorry on phone can't see sigs) if not 99, start working on that and get summ xp that way.

    87. I would do this, if it were not for the fact that:

Slayer would be faster with turmoil, and more enjoyable with soul split.

and the same can be said for Dungeoneering, which I do a lot of

But yes, I do intend to gather my charms via Slayer, rather than powering for them.

  2. kxb is better for low defence, ccbow is better for high defence.

Kree is generally considered high defence (although when overloaded and using rigour this is much less the case than it use to be)

  3. Dont listen to this rubbish

    3. I've never heard anyone suggest steam runes as good xp, I probably would've just told you law runes

    4. I wouldn't bother with chaotic but I hate dung so...

    5. I'd block black demons for sure

    6. I just do the highest potion I can to make it go faster.

'Snipers_end' should be here to ask the questions, not answer.

If I were you I'd get a rapier for sure, as fast as you can, if you're looking to slay. Itll greatly improve your killrates for the majority of slayer tasks.

Black demons are a great task both for xp (cannon them in taverly) and for crimson charms (50% drop rate). People tend to block slow tasks that cannot be cannoned and which offer little in the way of charms.

Use Grimy's reference spreadsheets in the Guides section of the forum to work out which potions are best in terms of xp/gp

  4. This is all entirely down to whether or not you see yourself going for maxed total, or at least 90+ in all skills.

I personally have saved up 78 effigies, and counting, whilst slowly working on skills across the board to ensure I get the most out of them.

Just remember you can use boosts in many skills, other than stews. If you had the following set of skills, for example, youd be able to open all effigies without any stew/assists.

    95 Mining or 95 Smithing

    94 Fletching or 95 Woodcutting

    91 Cooking or 97 Firemaking

    92 Fishing or 93 Farming

    95 Herblore or 94 Hunter

    97 Summoning or 97 Runecrafting

    94 Crafting or 92 Agility

    93 Thieving or 94 Construction

Personally, I'd suggest saving them if you see yourself attaining at least 50% of these skills.

Lets face it, 95 smithing, 94 fletching, 91 cooking, 93 thieving are all cheap and fast. Thats half your effigy problem solved already. You already have 99 hunter (although id strongly recommend saving all herblore ones for when you can use them yourself). If you have the perseverance to get 99 Hunter, i'm sure you could easily get plenty of these skills.

Hunter you actually only need 89 for, the ooglog pools boost hunter by 9.

    Completely forgot about that, thanks

(probably because I would never consider using them on Hunter rather than Herblore)

  6. Why get rid of guthans helm, skirt, spear, but not the plate?

The plate is the cheapest and highest defence version of any Barrows plate. Very economical, high defence. The skirt is replaced by Veracs skirt or tassets, helm by Veracs helm. No need for Guthans set effect.

Armadyl communique can't be reobtained, so it would be silly to get rid of it.

Its useless. You do not need it. Especially if it cannot be reobtained.

  7. Im afraid I have nothing to offer in the way of advice, being only 98 dg myself, as I do not feel I have the experience to tell others what they should be doing.

However, a little birdy told me that t10 Blitzer is better than t10 Blazer (but only as of t10). If your ring is maxed, it might be worth checking this to make a slight improvement to your offensive output.

In my opinion, do not consider ranging without a Hex, and as has been mentioned you cannot use one. So that's really a no-go.

Promo Rapier + Empowered Catalytic with tank and blitzer rings perhaps?

  8. When I read the first few lines about the smithing update, I was thinking that Jagex had done it so wrong.

    Then I read

    ceremonial swords

    and hope started to return

You do realise what Ceremonial swords are for, right? They'd never have been proper combat weapons, regardless of what theyre made of.

Personally am slightly dissapointed in this aswell though. Like most others, was hoping for some sort of augmentation/upgrading of current armour at higher levels. I just got 97 smithing yesterday too... Ah well.

  9. You could if you wanted to re-equip defender.

Also, assuming both of you are correct about the X-Bow, that it has 50% the range str, less of a range bonus, and 50% more speed...wouldn't that still make the rune c bow better? For every 2 attacks with r c bow, we get 3 with the x bow. But if the damage on the fast weapon is cut in half, wouldn't that result in the DPS of the X-Bow being 75% of the DPS of the R C bow? Ignoring accuracy here, but the R C bow trumps with accuracy as well...

This is assuming that the X-Bow has 50% of the ranged strength and 50% more speed then the R C bow.

Only half the strength in terms of the Bow's strength bonus, not counting range levels.

  10. rigour for sure since you don't have steel titan

karils xbow and hand cannon are both better than ccb anyhow

Karils is less accurate and half the range strength. Plus you have extra equipping to do and need a free slot. What makes it better?

  11. I'd go for the bow first. Really, you shouldn't be worried about dying there. Bring a ring of life if your worried, but it should be really easy to get back to TDs after you die. 15 minute grave ftw.

Be prepared to be flamed for C Long instead of rapier >.<

Haha, trust me, I'm not worried about getting back to TD's. It's more that if I disconnect then I won't be able to regardless. And thats always likely with my internet.

And as I don't slay and only hunt bosses, I'm really happy with my CLS. People can tell me rapier is better, and I can accept that, but CLS works for me (plus it doesnt look like a wand).

  12. So I'm thoroughly enjoying Td'ing of late.

My current setup is void + defender + rcbow + cls. I am really happy with how cls performs here, and I would like to continue using the defender to aid with darklight, unless you feel there is a strong reason not to. My firemaking is low, plus i'd rather use a one handed range weapon to avoid re-equipping defender and having to keep a spot free all the time, so I'd rather keep using a crossbow as opposed to a handcannon/karils.

Onto the main question. Rigour is obviously 5% damage and accuracy increase over eagle eye. CCBow is +30 range bonus. Which should I get first? Because Rigour affects not only my rune crossbow but also but overloaded range stat, does the extra damage compensate for the slight decrease in accuracy? I alrready find I perform better with Runite bolts than Diamond ones, as getting that 300+ hit seems to take a lot less attempts on average. Also, rigour would mean not risking a chaotic. I'm not 95 prayer so I wouldnt use curses anyway, and even if I was I think I wouldnt be for td's. Melee hits well enough without turmoil and I don't mind swapping prayer against their attacks instead of soulsplitting the melee. Seems to me that curses are just the lazy way out for TDs.

So, Rigour (5% accuracy and damage) or CCbow (+30 range bonus).

    Thanks

  13. A few things.

Firstly, as far as I'm aware, to be fighting Frosts with reasonable efficiency (not completely wasting time) you should be using a rapier. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Secondly, spending the tokens for a rapier on xp instead will not even save you the level from 84 to 85. So imo youd be much better off spending tokens on something other than xp. It will work out much better profit in the long run.

With regards to how long it would take... there really is no fixed xp/h for dung. I myself am only 80 dung, and quite poor at it, with no good team to work with. On w117 I generally only manage to do 1 large floor per hour, which at my level averages at about 55k-60k xp/h.

And obviously as I cannot yet kill Frosts I cannot say how crowded it is.

  14. Not that it really matters, but everyone seems to have forgotten that the initial rise from 2k to 3k was largely due to "offer x" being instated on gilded altars. A small minority disliked the update, as it slowed the process considerably, but for the majority it made the skill a lot less painful and tiresome to train. Hence the rise.

Shortly after this saw the release of the Curses, spurring the price on toward 5k.

  15. So it's been forever since I actually trained Summoning. But I have been collecting charms. I now have the 11k crimsons to get from 70 to 88.

I'm simply wondering how many trips I could do in 1 Kyatt? Using Glories to Edge. Assuming of course that is still the fastest method.

A number of runs per hour, or per Kyatt, would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
