  1. Can this? Probably. Will this? Probably not.
  2. Everyone minus one. And don't way it would be different if I was actually in the situation because I have been there. If that's truly the case, then you're either on a "do-it-yourself" path, a path that is NOT followed by every player, and while fun, is quite frivolous, meaning that it is not logical for you to pretentiously compare yourself to someone who plays the game by making the best use of its features. That's the same as comparing a level 3 skiller to a player that trains combat - the skiller is putting that goal in front of themselves, and has no one to blame if it's more difficult. The second reason you wouldn't accept donations is a psychological one - it's not that you don't want the money/have an interest in it, but rather you're denying it for the sake of being able to say you denied it. It's basic human psychology - If I offered the money to you right now, you'd say no, just because you don't want me to think that you'd ever accept it. But if someone offered such a large sum of money to you, and you know that no one would ever find out, unless you don't accept it for the previous reason I mentioned, you would be more than willing to take it. No I just prefer to earn things myself, you made all the wrong assumptions about my personality. Whether people find out or not is irrelevant because I know that I took it. I am not one of those players who complains about the game getting easier with updates such as runespan, nor am I the type of player who boasts "I did this when it was hard", I am proud of the achievements that I did at the time. Why must people think that runescape is a game of dominance? [/hide] If you didn't care whether or not people knew you took it, you wouldn't have responded in such a defensive manner. You said that you prefer to earn everything yourself, and all I'm saying is that you're doing that not because you find it amoral to accept donations, but because your goal is to do so without them. Responding to inaccuracies is not the definition of being defensive. Admit it, you made some poor generalizations. Instead of continuing to shape your poor assumption to some general line of agreeableness, why not accept that there are more reasons than you can fathom for why one would not (or would for that matter) accept a donation. I think if you read my explanation, you'll see that I realize that it was not worded well. If I expected it to be contested I would have obviously said it differently. Since I've explained the original intentions I had with my statement and said that I didn't want to continue it, I realize that now would be a convenient time to attack what I said, instead of doing so when I was actively defending it. If you actually care about the subject, and aren't responding simply because the other viewers of the thread will see, feel free to send me a private message - I'd be more than willing to explain my opinions. Lol don't make this out to be some conveniently planned out attack/me kicking you when you're down. I simply saw a ridiculous statement (more so being the defensiveness than your generalization) and felt compelled to comment. I'm sure you saw my explanation too then, seeing as the comment you quoted came after it. Again another false assumption. I read it and commented. Didn't feel the need to read everything posted and THEN comment. Probably should have, but what's done is done.

  5. These both fall into the categories that I mentioned; If your principle is "I must do it myself," then you fall into the first category I mentioned. This is you choosing to not accept the donations, because your goal is to complete task x without having someone else pay for it. That is not everyone's goal, so your playstyle is not relevant to their outcome. Other reasons that fit here: •Friend bet you that you couldn't achieve task x without accepting y •You want to know if x is possible without y •Two people racing to see who can accomplish x first without y •Government giving out huge checks to anyone that can accomplish 200M all without accepting any donations •ANY reason where you can chose whether or not you accept donations falls into this category Not wanting to be "That guy who got rich off of someone else" directly falls into my second category, the person who doesn't want others to think that they'd accept them. "You don't want to be that guy" is shaped around how others perceive "that guy" to be - you're tailoring yourself to not look as if you're one of those people, which means that you care what people who don't like "that guy" think, and as such, don't want them to think that you're "that guy." The type of categories you're creating is ridiculous. You can't analyze the general population with your own beliefs and what you believe others motivation are. As for the donations and in part the SOF (lol @ the guy who want's to discuss donations separately when the debate primarily arouse around SOF) It's simple, when you do anything in life you know that there will be people who support it and those who frown upon it. If you choose to through with it you should accept that the people who frown upon it to let it be known for whatever reason it may be that they don't agree the path you choose. Is this how communities should be like? No, probably not. However it's usually how situations arrange themselves. To SUOMI, I have no problems with accepting donations. Though, with that being said stop the complaining about the haters in a sarcastic manner or how much hate you get for accepting donations. With all the hate, there is plenty of support too. The last thing you want is to turn into Drumgun and start moaning about anything and everything. Take this like it is, I mean this in a positive manner, but I doubt you will see it like that.
  6. Oh come on... don't be so negative about it. This kind of thing doesn't happen every day, so just let people enjoy it. This kind of thing has been happening every day for a year. "This" being supporting suomi. Do you cheer for your favourite football team every game during the playoffs, but cease to do so when they reach the Super Bowl? He doesn't need motivation, and I don't think anyone here is trying to give him any - people are simply commenting because they're excited. Agreed. No one is forcing you to support him, however with that being said you shouldn't deter others that choose to do so.
  7. On which kind of achievement, 200m in all skills, 200m in Con in one day, or max gold? For the first, spending gold =/= max skills, or we'd have that already. For the second, it still takes a lot of effort beyond the mere gold involved. For the third, I wouldn't be surprised if a few people have done that already, but it would be pretty expensive... It was the second one, and to be honest I think the gold involved is the main effort.
  8. Not to promote RWT but what's to say someone who does, wouldn't also spend it on this type of achievement.
  9. With the introduction of free trade, 200B (though still an amazing feat) is more feasible. If someone would ever (I'm sure if RS is out long enough, someone will) attempt to do this, I would understand completely. Just for the shear reason of the amount of historical records that would be broken and made.
  10. Well I didn't think I'd have to connect the dots. But I simply asked what do you define as 'burning out'? I never said that you said you were, that was a conclusion I had drawn myself.
  11. I'd hardly say it's an argument, I posed a question and drawn conclusion and you gave an irrelevant answer.
  12. There should be no reason to get so worked out about the word 'burning out'. If you truly are so offended about it, why let all the e-trolls know so they can continue to annoy you. However with that being said, what's your definition of 'burning out'? What do you think it could possibly mean? It seems like a lot of people in this thread take this offensively because it has a negative undertone that the player in question could not handle to play rs no longer, when those words are thrown around usually to stop from posting a long list of potential reasons they could have quit. What's my point? It's only some words, if some simple ones like that can create such a reaction maybe the internet isn't the best place for the person.
  13. I hope that's just irony. Sarcasm*
  14. I still prefer DJ Zarfot - Silence, used in the past vids
  15. Your post just lost the smallest sliver of credibility it might have had. There was no credibility either needed or shown in my post. Your post just lost a purpose.
  16. Lol drumgun just complains about anyone who might even slightly come off better than him. I actually thought he was a cool guy, until he started posting here with all his "this is the way to play and standard of what will be considered an achievement." Just because you purposely made your goals harder for yourself doesn't mean other's have to as well. L2CopeWithDefeat. Also I'm sure this is probably why most of the high level players can't stand you, man up. Also Tezz will be seen as the true master of combat by a heavy amount of the RS population, so before you start [cabbage]ing about that too, get use to it. @I guess this is the part where I say on topic to make this post is semi approvable even though the question that's posted here is in rush just to justify the post beforehand. Do any of the top players have any brawlers left they plan to or haven't used yet? Would be interesting seeing as how much of a pain they are now.
  17. the time calc says suomi has 4700 hours left to all 200ms. so i think before 2013 he will be all 200ms. Good, because we all obviously know there is no 2013
  18. x10 Prayer points obviously ftw lol...
  19. Anyone who doesn't bury normal bones to 200m prayer is obviously not putting as much hard work into their achievement to be recognized and now that's obviously sickening.
  20. I lost a lot of respect for you. I have no clue how you believe that accepting donations is better than merchanting. There was nothing wrong with the old merchanting system (pre free trade). The grand exchange was great because it gave the best price possible for the seller or the buyer (If someone bought something they would get it for the lowest price that someone was selling it for unless the buy offer was lower than the sell offer.) and it provided a quick and efficient way to get items. In the grand exchange there was always a "Best Ask" and a "Best Bid" with commonly traded items where the best bid is the highest buying offer and the best ask being the lowest sell offer. If someone wanted to sell an item they would set it to min price and would get the item for the best bid. A merchant would try to buy items for just above the best bid and then sell for just below the best ask. Players were well aware of the fact that if they wanted the best deal possible they would have to wait longer to get them. However most chose not to wait in order to get the item faster. Essentially players would knowingly trade away a tiny bit more money (often only like 0.5-1% the items value) so that they could save time not having to wait for the offer to complete. Merchants were people who were willing to wait for the offers to complete and were willing to take a bit of a risk. Also because merchants dealt in such high stock they gained only little bits of money from lots of people, which resulted in good profit for them. Merchanting was one of the only ways to make money that actually took skill (other than maybe DIY if you consider time spent as skill). S U O M I, the reason the donations debate comes up so frequently is because it takes no skill at all and it's just using other people. Donations devalue your goal as well. Making money is a big part of this game that takes a lot of time and effort to get and when you get the money for free you're essentially getting free exp. Your goal of "completing this game" is silly, because you're bypassing a very large chunk of it. I'm one of those people that was proud of everything I worked for in runescape, because I was able to get there by myself. Back in the good old days I loved my account because of the fact that everything on it I had worked so hard for and got through my own hard work. I just don't really understand how you can call 200m all skills a personal goal where you: a) skip a huge part of the game(money making), and b) get a large amount of help from others. To me it is almost like setting a personal goal of running a marathon, but not running the whole marathon so you get your friends to run a couple miles and then collectively adding the distance and going, "Yay! I did it!". It really doesn't make sense to me... I don't just feel this way about you though S U O M I, I feel this about most of the top 15. There are very few people who entirely worked for their stats and have gained them partially from others. It's really sickening to see what rs has come to now a days. Back when there was free trade, people actually had to work for what they wanted and people like Zarfot were able to be so high on the charts because he was smarter than the others. Zarfot took the time to understand things and because of that he was able to be more efficient than the other players. Nowadays all runescape is is scamming, botting, dicing and donations and it's really sad to see a game that used to have such great potential get run into the mud. TL;DR S U O M I I don't get how you can call 200m all skills a personal goal, but so heavily depend on others and say things like Merchanting is taking advantage of others, when it is one of two respectable ways to get money. I'm sorry for rambling/run-on sentances and any spelling/grammar errors. It's really late and I'm tired. Also sorry suomi for being so negative. In the end if your happy with what you've achieved in runescape, then don't let my views effect you and stop you from achieving your goal. I'm mostly disappointed with what runescape has become compared with what it was =( ~Whoa 1gp~ U mad bro? OT: I think he was leaning more towards the price manipulation. Also life lesson, just because you feel like your hard work is worth more than the results you bring; it probably isn't... just saying. Plus it's hard to decided what is a 'large chunk' of the game, for example to put into perspective for some of the poor or restricted rs players a large portion of the game might be to not go over there 2gb internet usage.
  21. Wiki says that but does the knowlege base/someone reaching it? If its on wiki it could be bs that no one wants to spend time disproving. Heard someone botted and maxed at 50k. Makes sense tbh
  22. *Gone fishing* Will be awhile till I get 120 yeah, I would prefer to come out straight on top if I ever get maxed. As for the cashflow for the prayer/fm/craft, not too good. Secretly hoping that a nice person or 2 who's fed up of scape by this Rs update quits and shares some bankloot with me XD Other than that, rocktail and the occasional herb run brings in like 60m gps a month, so it'll be quite awhile until I have enough unless the above happens :P Also Langer, if the screenie a few pages ago was real then it means that Richard (the number guy) is quitting rs after he finishes fletch and defence. So that would mean he's never even gonna start that long road :P I don't understand why you kept saying that you are against donations and merchanting (I never understood why you would say the latter), yet you just openly asked for donations L. You kept saying that you don't respect players who get money like that and that you're all about DIY. Kinda hypocritical don't you think? I can also add that you asked Elias for merchanting help and when you found out you couldn't do it well you bad mouthed merching again. I really dislike it when someone is hypocritical. I agree with Makaveli, I've noticed for a while that he likes to boost his own achievements and undermine all others. It's getting old pretty fast, especially with it being implied under a 'imo', or a so called 'non-bias' approach. Almost like a highschool girl talking smack I must say. Give it up.
  23. Jagex don't have to stick to 32 bit in the client, they could use longs without any changes needed. Well runescape uses quite some interesting techniques (from a programmers point of view) to sent a lot of "data" without straining your internet connection. These techniques may cause troubles with 32/64 bit boundaries.. Though it won't be more than a regular runetek update. HOWEVER, there is also a database behind your data: where the stats are centrally stored. This would also have to be updated, this isn't a difficult task, but given the amount of accounts can be quite time consuming. I wouldn't be surprised if this could take in excess of several hours, in which all time no one could log in (or out). Remember that there are many, many inactive accounts which also have to be updated/copied. Is it morally right to stop a service for several hours for a few people who reached the max? Well the way you worded your question I would say is a bit bias. Also I would say that this would not just be for players who reached the max, it could be helpful to everyone who's annoyed that they have to check highscores/runetracker/etc. to see their overall xp. One last thing, I'm not sure how it's worked but this down time could potentially be incorporated with another big update to be 'efficient' lol. Just my thoughts on the subject
  24. Lol I'm not a fan of eggifies myself, but for many to just hop on the I hate effigy bandwagon and to think less of people who don't agree is a bit unfair. Many of the people here I would say are on the extreme side of the spectrum, from jagex's point of view the 'game' does not continue after the 99's/120. This can be argued but I would say it is true for a majority of the players. So for the massive amount's of xp that can recieved through effigies on a smaller scale doesn't seem as big of an effect, especially since not everyone 'hunts' for effigies. I would personally say that despite myself not approving of them, they actually make the game better as now for many players for which certain skills seem like grind/game quitting they now have an alternate option. Just my 2 cents.
