Any games that are like Dark Souls with the levelling and the overall feel of the game, like one mistake can't be undone?
Apart from Demon's Souls, nah. You've got monster hunter in the sense of not forgiving mistakes during combat, but there is no leveling or exploration in it.

I've played in every "open" beta so far. If anyone wants my opinions on it, just ask away.
Is the gameplay much different than the standard MMORPG? Because I saw a vid of a dungeon playthrough and it didn't seem very different from your average WoW heroics run. And is the leveling experience with the events really that revolutionary and more fun?
The combat system is WoW's hotbar system, improved. Projectiles have collision detection, weapon swings damage everything in their path, tons of abilities you have to aim.
The level experience is more fun, particularly because you're never handed a "tasklist" of "go there and kill 10 boars". You're free to explore, and you are rewarded for it in exp.
For example, you can earn a ton of exp by fully exploring any town or outdoors map, and on top of that you receive cash and an item for exploring it all. Plus, you never feel like you outlevel a zone, because you can complete a lvl1-15 zone and then go to another race's zone and complete theirs, and your level will downscale to the event at hand so you still feel challenged.
However, at least in the beta, if you're planning to level two characters of the same race, you'll feel a bit bored because you'll encounter some repeated events. But that's when you go to WvW, which is my favourite part of the game.

Every other game has a mechanic in place to prevent gearswitching that would give an unfair advantage.
How is it an unfair advantage if everybody has access to it?

And exactly WHY would that be overpowered? Allowing a mage to use lunar combat spells with actual attack spells (besides polypore  ) would only be fair. I've always found it one of the biggest ironies ever that a ranger and warrior can venge (or shield, or what have you) themselves but a mage who actually wants to be effective in combat can't.
It's time to stop dicking around with crap like Spellbook Swap and Borrowed Power (worst farce of a use for a max level skill EVER) and make things right, and I hope they do with the combat upgrade.
It wouldn't be overpowered, but it would strip parts of the lore from their individuality.

And so dawns the age of microtransaction players.
Brace yourselves.
You're a bit late to the party. Microtransactions have been a valid business model for years now.

I just hope it won't be too dynamic, requiring tons and tons of clicking to win because I'm not good with that stuff and I have quite a bit of latency on my end.
All the stuff they have released has said you CAN still click and wait, but you get better dps and xp by using the dynamic moves etc.
I should think the only places where click and wait might be impossible will be a few bosses, but even then probably only apply topost-update releases and not current ones.
Hmmm, yes, I can see that happening. They did mention that there will still be an autoattack in place, and I doubt they'll revamp enemy AI to force you into using the abilities.

Combined with the-longer-the-battle-gets-effect, bye Nex?
It caps at ~120 damage :(
-
It's not.
Notice in the sub-headings of BTS it has (Members only) beside all 3 updates this month.
That's a shame.

PvP update doesn't really affect skilling/maxing/comp cape but it could be very fun so that's good.
Indeed. I hope it is available for f2p too, because I'm looking forward to some full rune DM's.

Meh.
How much are those going for? My last two kills were lantadyme drops, so don't complain too much.

Seems like the most appealing thing to a wide audience is the upcoming combat beta. From what I've seen in the video, it's interesting...but it only focuses on PvP, not PvM - which may be a whole different animal.
You do know that it was an NPC that was being attacked in the video, right?
-
AoE attacks, interesting but at the same time kinda scary how they will mess things up
That's why they are holding a beta, I'm guessing. It's just too much content for their QA team, and it'll hype people up.
-
That actually looks good.
Edit: seen whole video: [Harpy]ing AMAZINGGGGG
Agreed. Some mage animations are a bit choppy but it looks amazing.

buy prices if interested.
Is it worth it?

Zamorak is a false user, as would Lucien and yourself be...
But Saradomin is an actual god instead of a false one...
Didn't he ascend into godhood via the stone as seen in the WGS cutscene, which would also make him a false user?
I think he only used it to heal zyliana.

To the rest of the thread - The boss is pretty friggin easy. :P I've seen a lot of people do it using one brew (while ranging).
Vid on that?

I did it with Torags / Chaotic Kite & Rapier with DDS as a spec weapon.
I used Yak, although I did a few titan attempts and titan does well if you have the brews to do it, you CAN do QBD with titan without nex gear if you dont make mistakes but I didnt do that enough I just wanted comp cake back.
Titan and Dreadnips down the QBD Fast theres a 6 minute QBD kill on youtube, you take a summon pot to restore special points to do more specs on the queen.
If you have Nex gear you can run through flames with ease and heal, but the flames there are only 3 locations to them (I believe) and there are dots to south side for reference of where to click. (theyre 1 to 2 off the circles at bottom on the floor of where to stand to go in the flame-gap).
Also worth mentioning is that you click on QBD when you are in flame gap and it runs straight north to attack her not diagonally so its a fast way back and you dont have to manually click up and then attack her its a little faster.
For flames too when its 3 at a time on the later stages, always make your way north so you arent too far south or you wont have room to manouvre, and run diagonally to next gap then north through it to make room for next.
On the four souls you can either save your specs to hit it, but slash is the best way and apart from that once you know how to do Queen its VERY easy to do, even in non-nex gear, I manage with around 20 brews in yak still, so you can see why Titan is possible.
I managed to do it without a summon or nex gear, so yeah, a titan is very possible.

You know nothing about security if you think people brute force passwords compared to the other ways of compromising account security. Which based on everything you've said, means you know nothing about security.
Plus, the recent "hacking" were a database exploit, not stolen accounts.

First kill, no summon, no dreadnips.
-
DFS seems useless against the fire attacks ,was getting hit 300+ contantly.

If the people who will subscribe regardless continue to do so...how exactly does that automatically mean they're entitled to less perks? So far, everything that Jagex has developed on promotional sides has favored new growth. What I'm trying to say is it's nice that they're paying attention to those who have stuck with the game continuously for a period of time. Keeping your current customers happy and drawing in new/returning customers is a balancing act, and this restores some much-needed balance to those who have been continuously paying.
I'm not sure exactly what there is to get upset over.
I'm not upset. I do have an account that has been subscribed for quite some time. But I do feel like the requirement could be expanded to include people who have maintained many months of subs in the past.

Keep in mind the cost of running servers. In addition, current players are most likely to have a better understanding of the current state of the game.
Server costs for MMOs are minimal. And the current state of the game doesn't matter when you're testing an overhaul.
I'm confused. If someone is going to be subscribed and will continue, how can one exceed the other? At the very least, they are equal. You can't go higher than a 100% chance. If somebody is subscribed 12 months in a row, chances are they'd be subscribed even without the beta.
If somebody recently came back from a long hiatus, chances are they'll be more inclined to keep their subscription after trying the beta. Or less inclined to unsubscribe, depending on your point of view.
