- Recent trend to include PvM into Comp Cape, i.e. Rush of Blood [Split]
The condescension in this thread is thick enough to cut with a knife. Are you sure you know how to use the knife? What else is there to say? It's an entire thread of "If they can't do it they need to get good", ignoring the fact that you're basically telling people they should be more than happy to risk potentially hundreds of millions in gear and supplies on practice into a clunky and only barely functioning combat system, when they could potentially be fighting physical or mental problems that they may not be able to overcome, or just the kinds of connection issues that make even moderately twitchy content impossible for people without those issues. I'm not really seeing that as an issue of instant gratification. I mean, yes, leeching is an answer, but then what's the point of having the requirement at all? Just being able to visit the boss is already covered by the soundtrack. Risk hundreds of millions? Wut? You can protect 5 items. There is no real risk anyway unless you internet is bad. Not to mention the argument that Jagex should take into account possible emotional issues people have with spiders is so ridiculous I don't even know where to start making fun of it, let alone tearing it apart. On top of that the most prevalent argument against it hasn't been any of those. It's been a simple "I can't do it/I don't want to do it/I shouldn't have to do it." Again, if you can't do the content, you don't get the reward. Personally I think comp cape means next to nothing since its all about time, and nothing else. It's why I play WoW now. I'll take skill over grinding for my main goal in a MMO any day. Sure, RS is fun. But there is no real challenge. Learning the fight, you protect 5 items, so that's both weapons and top/bottom/helm. You risk gloves/neck/ring/boots/cape. Even wearing slightly worse gear in those spots won't make/break a kill, unless it is super clutch to begin with (and my first kill I had a good 10+ brew flasks left and 5-6 rocks, with max stats and better gear should be no problem.) So people need to stop [bleep]ing and yes, get better. Or is needing to be good at something to acquire a reward something bad? One thing I have to agree with alg is that the grave system is horribly outdated and basicly causes grieve. It's not a good gameplay function. Having said that, I hardly think about what im taking to a boss. Like stonewall said, theres 5 slots you can protect. The rest is rather irrelevant anyway.- Recent trend to include PvM into Comp Cape, i.e. Rush of Blood [Split]

This exactly. Somehow I don't even think that this rush of blood is that hard. I haven't tried it myself yet. Sure I believe theres alot of luck involved but then again is that so wrong? this is a cape that takes at least like 80 days of your time to get if you're being super efficient. Would you prefer skill or luck based content? Because it has to be one of those two. Otherwise it has no [bleep]ing interest. Don't even bring casuals into this. Completionist cape isnt casual. I'm just used to people whining about everything. I used to think vorago and rots were like impossible to do. One day I asked a friend to take me to rots, turns out it wasnt that bad. I actually had fun. Btw first kill of araxxor isnt even that hard. You can basicly soulsplit araxxi and dont have to bother pray switching. OMG that requires 95 prayer. Well actually you dont even have to soulsplit. It's just this hype people have for things theyre bad at. Took me like 40 tries on release day to get a kill. You know what I did? I played the game, had fun and pushed myself to keep trying. Eventually it rewarded me. [bleep] this generation thats all about instant gratification. Then again im not sure if it even exists, i always enjoyed working for the feelgoods.- [DISCUSSION] Ironman mode
I'd set up MTK asap and have it on 10 coal / 5 herbs or 10 herbs / 5 coal until dxp. I'd lean towards coal though, as you can transmute 3 coal into 1 mith. Then I'd use all mith/coal doing mithril swords at artisans. This uses up hardly any preparation time, and doing ceremonial swords is rather fast smithing xp. Herbs aren't that good from MTK though when you get bit higher herblore. Theyre mostly just low level herbs. Other good way to prepare would be getting silver bars from trekking. During double xp they should be around 160k crafting xp per hour. With summoning you can't really go wrong either. Also it cuts down shard cost in half which is really helpful especially when starting out. As for what familiars to make, after looking at wikia I came to these conclusions Gold: - Granite Crab (level 16, iron ore) - Spirit Terrordbird (level 52, raw bird meat (can buy 300 a day from ooglog)) - Barker Toad (level 66, swamp toad) <-- Wouldn't do this myself but if people want swamp toads I think big chinchompa is pretty good for them Green: - Beaver (level 33, willow logs) - Ibis (level 56, harpoon) - Bunyip (level 68, raw shark (from temple trekking)) - Unicorn stallion (level 88, unicorn horn (tower of life)) <-- Not really optimal for training (shouldn't even be using greens at this point) Crimson: - Pyrelord (level 46, tinderbox) - Granite lobster (level 75, granite) <- possibly one of the easiest tertiarys to get hold of - Talon beast (level 77, talon beast charm) <- I suggest banking all talon beast charms while you're trekking for other rewards. After all, it takes like 250k silver bars for 99 craft - Pack yak (level 96, yak-hide) Blue: - Spirit Kyatt (level 57, kyatt fur) <- Might as well make some of these, unless you're planning on using taverley shop method - Mithril Minotaur (level 66, mithril bar) <- Mithril bars arent worth using for smithing as artisan/superheating gold is much better. - Adamant Minotaur (level 76, adamant bar) <- same point as above - Fire/Moss Titan (level 79, fire/earth talisman) <- You most likely wont have many talismans unless you have done dag tasks at dks. - Lava titan (level 83, obsidian charms) <- Bank all obsidian charms from tzhaar tasks and only kill the ones that drop 2 at once. - Geyser Titan (level 89, water talisman) <- Eh you probably won't have many water talismans either. Out of all the charms blue charms are the trickiest to use. I always just end up using whatever bars/talismans I have and end up with leftover blue charms- Balthazar's Big Raffle
does someone actually think that this golden junk looks good?- Oldie Oddish \o/
the huge loss in trekking is the silver bars. then again daily battlestaff/sand/seaweed isnt bad, but seaweed is horrible without lunars. other good replacement is sandstone especially considering the result. without mtk fletching is gonna be a pain. anything else from there is basicly just a bonus, but with brews being useful again, i'd miss the bird nests. then again nowadays you have so many options to work with. I'd probably be in the 80s in crafting right now without trekking. well ok I would have found a replacement, but trekking is just that good.- Oldie Oddish \o/
kinda lost motivation on my "main" which is my diy by now of course. will be starting HARDCORE ironman when it comes out. dont expect me at the top for a long time. First of all people will all start out differently. Also I will never put out as much time as the current top players do, which I figure will play this mode just because its "official". Hardcore isnt even that hard. You can pretty much risk your whole account once an hour if you know what you are doing. Sure you can have bad luck and die. But I've never had it happen to myself in 13 years where I would really die. Okay one exception to this I can imagine by now is vorago's reflect. I doubt they even think any ironman is gonna try it, let alone hardcore one. Then again jagex has always been out of touch with their community and it wont be long when ironmans will want to do vorago for one reason or another. nonetheless, im going all in on this one.- [DISCUSSION] Ironman mode
not familiar with ports :( but i hear they require a 90+ skill for 85+ armor? will be intense they degrade and cost 2-3m to repair per piece though? will be rough You can repair them with materials you get from ports. Even without that it's not that expensive. Lots of monsters drop alchables or big piles of coins now it costs 4.2m to repair a full set with level 1 in the skill it requires, but as it requires 90 just to make em your repair costs are basicly cut in half already- Oldie Oddish \o/

I like that they disabled TH to put everyone on even ground. Also the hiscores and bonds transfer is pretty neat. What I don't like is how easy it is to downgrade your account to non-diy. Personally I think it should be handled by contacting Jagex, who then can check if you are the owner of the account and not someone trying to harm you. I also don't like the fact you can't play minigames involving multiple players. You can't even finish Nomad's Requiem under these rules. Or get completionist cape. Why make an exception for shield of arrav/heroes quest but not for quest/comp cape?- Oldie Oddish \o/
Yeah probably would be smarter but with abilitys you dont really use that many runes to begin with. Even then I can always buy like 6K elemental runes per day from shops if I want :P Edit; Noticed theres double xp weekend coming in november.. Gonna prepare for it by farming tons of herbs, hopefully getting me to like 30M herb xp. Not construction? Construction is too costly I'm too lazy to collect the cash for it right now. I'm probably ignoring the whole skill until a rework is made or something. I'm running low on potions anyway so this motivation for farming herbs is pretty good.- Oldie Oddish \o/
