  1. Gotta love it when people think their way is the only way to play this game. And it actually is a direct waste of time NOT training agility with the boots, as unfortunate as that is. But you're right, 170m agil exp with minimal to no bonus exp deserves absolutely no respect because he is now being more efficient in achieving the same goal. Damn you, Paperbag! It really is shocking to see how many are closing in on the 5.2 mark now though. Should make for a VERY interesting race once Inventor is released.
  2. I actually quite like the idea of a ZMI Divination area. This allows me to self gather energy for Inventor, but not get the crappy exp rates from Pale wisps and such. EDIT: Nm read it wrong, it's only the divine location that gives random energy :(
  3. Surprised noone posted this yet. Behind the Scenes - April 2014 Occasionally in life, you face a choice so monumental that it changes you forever. This April, we bring you one of those choices: Are you a monkey, or are you a cabbage? That's right - Brassica Prime and Marimbo are coming in April, in the mysteriously titled Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza - the Sixth Age seasonal event voted for by you. There's also some fantastic dressing to April's salad, with a new quest that sees you return to the island of Ashdale; the ability to harness Elder God divination energy; and several updates from the Ninja Team, including Ranged and Magic power gloves. Read on to find out more! Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza Holiday event, free players and members Marimbo and Brassica Prime have come to Gielinor, and they've claimed the abandoned Saradomin camp, north of Lumbridge Crater. In the red corner will be Marimbo, fighting for fun and partying, and in the green corner will be Brassica, who wants to bring deliciousness to the world. In a recent poll, you voted for a lighthearted seasonal event focused on the Sixth Age conflict between the gods, rather than a traditional Easter event. This spring, there's cabbage galore and apes aplenty - and not a bunny in sight - in the Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza! After choosing a side, you'll be rolled into an underground obstacle course of traps, trophies, monkeys and madness. Your aim is to survive as long as possible, collecting trophies and avoiding players that have been transmogrified into face-punching gorillas. Obviously. Pitch in and you'll earn renown, which can be spent on cosmetic capes or bonus XP in Slayer, Farming and Mining. You'll also be able to buy three rewards, each voted for by you: seedicide, which converts dropped seeds directly into experience; the Slayer VIP ticket for more choice in your assignments; and the patch bomb, which makes harvesting and clearing your farming patches a breeze! There are no requirements to play this new minigame, although members will gain renown at a 50% increased speed. So - are you a Brassican, or a Brassican't? Are you a chest-pounding silverback, or just a brass monkey? All this - and more - will (probably) become clear in the Cabbage Facepunch Bonanza. Shadow over Ashdale Novice quest, free players and members Ashadow has been cast over Ashdale, the idyllic starting area of RuneScape. In our latest quest, take on fiendish puzzles, all-new enemies, and a story that is overrun with intrigue and danger. There are no entry requirements, so the quest is suitable for new players, but the NPCs are scaled to your level, so experienced players can have a blast too. We’ve taken a different approach with this quest, keeping it light on dialogue and letting the environment and set pieces do the talking. From concept to modelling, animation to environment, the art and graphics guys have produced some inspiring work. We can't wait for you to visit the imperilled Ashdale and tell us what you think! Elder Divination High-level Divination update April brings a tasty treat for those who have completed Fate of the Gods - a new divination colony. While this is a nifty alternative training method between levels 75 and 85, it's all about what you can do with the elder energy that you gather there. With it, you can make a new divine location - the divine simulacrum - which will allow you to gather divination energy from various tiers at once, as well as the occasional portent and sign. There's Transmute Charm, which can convert your gold charms into green, your green charms into crimson, and your crimson into blue. And there's the divine impling, which will give you energy, signs and complete summoning pouches if you manage to grab it. Among the various Divination additions across levels 75 to 99, we will be bringing you the muspah beast of burden. This was voted for by you in a Power to the Players poll, and we've made sure it's a real helping hand as you unravel divination's mysteries. It will auto-store and auto-deposit your energy, so you won't even have to click it to gain the full benefits. We've also given it a nifty energy-foraging scroll ability. There will be plenty for those who have not completed Fate of the Gods too. Many rewards are tradeable and can be bought from other players, and we're completely revising the way chronicles work, so you will find them more frequently, get more XP from them, and cash them in when you want to. Master Skillcapes and Other Ninja Updates The ninjas have done it again this month, bringing you what you want, when you want it. Aside from their regular fixes, you can expect master skillcapes, recognising the achievement of gaining the equivalent of level 120 in a skill. Don't worry, we won't be increasing the max skill level with this update. The ninjas have also cooked up some level 90 Ranged and Magic power gloves. These will drop from members of the Order of Ascension and celestial dragons respectively. Every combat maestro will want to get their mitts in these! Solomon's Store and Treasure Hunter Those of you who followed the player-designed emote competition will recognise the 'RuneScape Through the Ages' emote in Solomon's Store. It features iconic items from throughout RuneScape's history, and we had great fun reminiscing as we made it. You can also expect some brand new companion pets in Solomon's Store, and items that'll transmogrify you into a bunny, lamb or chick on Treasure Hunter. Bank Changes from March Finally, we would like to apologise for the delay to the bank changes. The good news is they're coming this month, and to make up for it, we're including a hefty addition that will make you weep actual tears of joy. We're giving you quick loadouts for your worn inventory and backpack, so you can grab a group of items from your bank in the swiftest of clicks! That's it for this month. Don't forget to jump onto the forums and tell us what you think. Have fun! Mod Mark and the RuneScape Team
  4. It's a classic mistake really by doomed businesses - Focus on short term profit, while ignoring long term profit and worrying about problems when they come, instead of being proactive about them. Happens all the time in soon-to-be bankrupted companies. Once the cash flow starts getting dangerously low, you'll see IVP jump ship and leave the game to die, and they'll be the only ones laughing all the way to the bank about it. I have a feeling MMG doesn't actually feel the way he said in that statement, but remember, he can't talk otherwise about his employer. Remember what he was like when he first came in, his first moves were a complete contradiction to what is in the game today. It's too bad, but unfortunately, we'll just have to deal with it.
  5. Gratz Makaveli on 200m fish, just saw it in the news feed.
  6. I more meant it was one of the only games I have seen that actually has a skilling playstyle available as opposed to being almost 100% combat based. I have never actually found a game that had multiple different skills to level, which is what drew me to Runescape. WoW was decent but is still miles off when you can max pretty much every profession in mere hours, let alone only being able to have 2 per character.
  7. Because there is no other game out there with the same type of gameplay as RuneScape as well as because people already committed a lot of time to completing their goals and they want to finish them instead of quitting and giving up. Exactly the reason I haven't quit yet, though I am actively looking. The only game I saw similar enough to Runescape's playstyle was that Eldevin, which has even worse microtransactions which ruin the whole point. The best bags for instance are only available through MTs, can buy gold directly, etc.
  8. That's the exact reason they did it in stages. They didn't want to make everyone quit right off the bat, they wouldn't have made nearly as much $$$ if that happened. It was all a master plan by Jagex, releasing it one step at a time.
  9. Yeah I totally agree. I compare this update to make effigies tradeable, except the dragonkin lamps can only be used for agility. Funny enough, the Effigy nerf came 14 days before SoF release, which buyable spins came 1 month after that. Effigies were not nerfed because of their reasons, they were nerfed to make buyable exp more attractive to players.
  10. Just amuses me looking back at the Effigy nerf because Jagex felt that "you shouldn't gain exp while not actually training the skill". We all freaked out at how much effigies ruined skilling, kind of funny seeing where we are now from that.
  11. I might be one of the only players who randomly crafts 10k of every rune via abyss / traditional methods now and then for fun xD I used to love RC, but didn't care for it much after ZMI almost tripled the exp rates, then RuneSpan virtually doubling THAT exp. Kind of a shame, but 'tis the way it goes.
  12. Doubt he'll do any harm, probably do like 400k-500k agility a day, L. I dunno, he used up the crapton of Div bonus he got from his previous 15k spins, though I guess that's more afkable, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him get high gains.
  13. Watch out agility HS, Yo Blue (Jon Snow O) has 200m banked in bonus exp now from his 5k keys. Amazing how OP these promos can be lol.
  14. Any way to turn off the icons on the mini map? They clutter up my screen now and looks awful.
  15. I've always shared the same mindset when it comes to buyable exp. If you absolutely despised training agility, then why not spend 10 hours working to buy 40 hours of agility (random number). Sure, you can say "it's a game, don't train it if you don't want to", but there are vastly different goals out there that push you to train those unwanted skills. This however, doesn't mean I support the key buying system. I absolutely despise having exp buyable in the game, but you won't see me blaming anyone for taking advantage of it. The real blame lies with Jagex for giving a way to cheat the system, not the people who are smart enough (yes, smart) to take advantage and save themselves the hassle.
  16. I have chrome disabled in settings.
  17. Hello, I was trying to allocate more RAM to my Java (using the "-XMX1028m" runtime parameters) via the Java console, and after allocating any of my 16gb RAM via that method, SK crashes when trying to load the game. This happens on any number allocation, and doesn't work again until i completely remove the runtime parameter. Any idea of what is causing this?
  18. I really want 120 capes for my own personal reason. I am a comp'd player, have around 1.2b exp, but I'm in no way very efficient. It took me from 2001 to get to where I am now, and currently have 3 120s in exp terms. I have no aspirations for 200m all, or any 200m for that matter, because I just don't have the time or motivation to do so. The reason I want 120 capes, is so I can take my favorite skill (Slayer), and make a long term goal to achieve that 120 cape. I'll never go for 120 all. Hell, it will probably take me at least 3-4 years to finish the last 60m exp I need for Slayer, but it will give me something to shoot for. This will make me stick to things I enjoy instead of grinding out all the other skills like I did before when I was working on max / comp. I actually prefer having "unobtainable" things in the game, as it makes me solely focus on stuff I love to do, but I guess I am probably in the minority here. Either way, 120 capes will get a resounding "yes" vote from me, hopefully making up for the loss in the prestige system I so hoped would have come into the game.
  19. You were shooting at a stationary target. People in 07 were shooting at a moving target. I don't think it's that hard to understand why one would be more difficult. And, as i said, if you were plunked into the real game(summoning came out 6 months after the 07scape snapshot) summoning would have been released before you maxed, and because you would not have known about it, would have had to basically max combat again to max. Or you know, spend a few weeks @ Rock Lobsters for crimsons, since that was discovered really early. You definitely wouldn't need to "Max combat" again just to get summoning done. Instead of trying to find ways to tear down others accomplishments, how about you just respect it for what it is.
  20. 10% slower exp for a 200m @ even 1m exp per hour = 20 hours wasted, those couple of seconds just got a bit bigger now.
  21. Well, as long as players assume the owners of the game don't know what they're doing, it must be OK to do and have no repercussions right? owners?>.> i think u missed something mod balance and inifinity are new and dont understand at all what are they talking :) Or you know, Jagex, who DOES own the game (well I guess IVP in a sense now, but they aren't the ones who actually create anything). Just sick of all this arrogance among the player base thinking they "know better" than people who actually are part of the company who is making the rules. It's a rule for a reason, if you don't like it, suck it up and move on. If you really want to just assume that you know better, then continue breaking it and don't complain if/when you get banned for it.
