  1. Quitting my main / made a new account. Display name is Perceptory, feel free to add me. I used the 'Refer a Friend' but seeing as I've quit my main I won't be using the 10% EXP bonus.

I have a goal to get 1B cash on this account.

    Oh yeah, check this out:

    x9VPL.png

    In-game pop ups.

    Oh my god....

    Are you freaking serious?....

    ...

    ..

    .

And they call themselves 'world's biggest free MMO...'

  2. TBH, Andrew definitely need to be blamed for at least part of this whole mess. He is the iconic image of RS, Jagex, regardless of how many times he actually appear - but just suddenly throwing in the towel? I just don't know what made him do it.... Getting investments is 1 thing, relinquishing the company you made from the ground up to the investors is something else... what made you do it Andrew?

That aside, anyone got anymore info on Fen Research - the new company he founded...? Is it ever going to buy RS back?

  3. Quoting the top comment on the video atm

What you guys need to know is: Jagex is now controlled by Big Buisiness Tycoons and Investors. The Gower brothers and the veterans at Jagex no longer control the company.

As a matter of fact, a HUGE majority of Jagex, including Mod MMG himself, hate what Runescape, their once beloved game, has become. ( a big marketing ploy). The sad thing is, if members of Jagex cant even persuade their executives to stop destroying Runescape, What chance to we have?

idk how much truth there is to this, but certainly is something that I will think about...

  4. Update 7

Details are spotty as jagex has censored mostly everything but the mod is "ken genosis" and was demodded for speaking out against jagex for removing f2p hiscores earlier today. His thread is gone and all discussion removed...as usual of the jagex censor team.

Jagex is cracking down hard right now - every thread on ken's demodding is being killed. If you happen across one, be sure to savor it, because the jagex censors are hard at work.

Here's the thread in question, unhidden now..but for how long? Update: yup, as expected, all trace of the thread has been deleted. Ken genosis was never a mod and never criticized jagex. Way to go, thought police.

    Hi Ken,

Genuinely sorry to see that you feel this way.

I believe you should have an inbox message from Mod Stevew concerning your status as a former member of the volunteer moderator team - I won't go into any more detail than that here on the public forums.

I've removed your opening posts on this thread. You are clearly entitled to those opinions and you may repost them on a new thread if you wish. However, my CM colleagues and I feel that leaving them visible with a green background would add undue pressure on to the remaining members of the Forum Moderator team, who volunteer their time to help and support the community on the forums. As you know, we do provide extra tools to the volunteers to allow them to raise any concerns they may have directly with us.

    All the best,

    Update 6

    Jiblix on f2p hiscore removal.

    Update 5

Jiblix is returning to RS from his short quit after the botting update.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3Zzx0zX2qc

    Update 4

The results are in and jagex lost to not only LoL (somewhat expected) but some random game called world of tanks, placing *3rd*.

good job jiblix, I hope jagex finally gets your message.

And now on rsof, we're coming full circle with jagex cracking down again...this time on threads discussing gja results.

    Lol....tanks..lol...

    --------------

Jagex is doing a communist style censor crackdown on RSOF on this topic. TIF mods: please keep TIF a free and open platform!

Well, I'm sorry if I'm a few days late - but I just found out about this. Jiblix, a forum mod, was de-modded for posting this video.

This really is quite an outrage. He took honest, unedited, REAL footage of RS. This is the REAL RuneScape, and yet Jagex silences him for it - and not only this, cracks down on all discussions of this. Jiblix is a fellow poster here on TIF - he has also made other great anti-bot videos - check out his channels.

If you support his message, please join the movement to vote AGAINST Jagex in the Golden Joysticks. This year, they truly do NOT deserve to call themselves the best free MMO.

For telling the TRUTH, Jiblix you have earned my respect and I hope many others in RS communities everywhere.

    update 3

  5. Well, I never imagined myself as a SC2 player - I thought MMO was going to be it for me. But no longer! The bots can play RS while I play SC2 :D

I'm really glad I have (re)discovered SC2 and its vibrant e-sports and casting community. It is literally quite awesome.

I'm sorry that I can't go and read 17 past pages - but who here is a fan of Husky/day9/psy/other awesome casters?

  6.

Oh, I see, this is just another bot thread in disguise then?

No, you wanted an economic analysis of what the difference between investors vs devs who care about your players - I gave you one.

That's not an economic analysis, that's just your fear mongering opinion. Bots have always been here, bots will always be here regardless of investors. I'll be you that if you never heard about this, a year from now you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. You'll probably forget about it completely.

There is just no reasoning with you.... Look, idk how long have you played RS - but I will tell you, there was definitely a time when the word 'botting' struck fear into every player of the instant-ban and you can roam the game and found but the one daring idiot who decided to bot flax who will get reported and banned. Clearly, those days are gone. But, having >50% of the in-game population as bots is absolutely ridiculous and inexcusable for any dev. And this really only happens when the investors on the board of directors totally control the game.

  7. I don't see how this is a bad thing. Investors want to make money off their investments, they're not going to do that by adding [cabbage]ty content and making the game so bad that players don't want to play it anymore. Runescape players are the most doom and gloom players ever. And I doubt most of the investors are actually even giving any meaningful input.

You forget, investors want their money BACK and OUT quickly. RS stock is not a freaking 30-year treasury bond. If a legit player pays $5, 'Andrew' would have said let's keep this player for 10 years by giving him great quests, storyline, and content. Now, the 'investors' say 'if this cheater bots 10 accounts for just 1 year, we'll get our money back quickly. And it's just GREAT if the cheater buys 5 more memberships to "refer" to himself. Oh and since he has so much money, we'll just ban a few of his accounts and make him pay to buy them back. And then sell him even more membership for a katana. Oh the other legit loyal players who just buys 1 account, who cares about you and your measly $5?

What kind of overlord do you want running this game?

  9. Are the money grubbing players seeking wealth through the GE any different than their investment banker overlords who play the same game with real cash?

Just Kidding, we are all awesome.

Anyway, this is unfortunate news. There is a movie script in this type of story: Man creates company or something that brings him joy, but he is too poor to execute it in a way he dreams. Big business dangles money above his head and says his dream can be a reality if... [fill in the blank for signing a soul sucking contract]. Then big business executes their deal with devious intentions. Following this, the man/hero is pushed away from his original love. He hates the world and wonders why his love was taken from him. He vows to get it back. He takes down big business at their own game and re-instates the pure and simple joy of his original love.

If Hollywood = Life [which we all know it does], then the Gower's should have full ownership of Jagex again by 2015 (or Act IV).

    A toast to Act IV!

  10. Realistically, how many people can you actually refer into buying membership these days? Esp. with the free game in such shambles - start a lvl 3 and you can literally not finding a chicken to kill without 20 bots over it. Who on earth can get into RS like this?

All of those who is going to benefit from this are those who have the cash to "refer" themselves - in fact why not "refer" yourself 5 times....

    freaking RWT by Jagex.

  11. I was the one who broke news here about these investors a few times - but who could have imagined it was THIS BAD? Andrew selling every [bleep]ing share of Jagex, the company he founded and made him who he is. For comparison, even Bill Gates still own quite a substantial share of Microsoft and Steve Jobs is still in charge of Apple...

RS is an orphan now, totally abandoned by its parents.

  12. The good folks at stelldardawncentral were responsible for all the past charts about jagex ownership - and finally there you have the new chart for 2010 ..and wow.

Andrew Gower now owns a whopping ZERO percent of Jagex, the rest 2 Gowers own less than 5%. Venture capitalists now own 90% of Jagex...

Basically, RS is an abondoned game and Jagex an abondoned company.

I just don't know what to feel anymore. I always wanted to blame Jagex for doing the fake wildy "poll", letting the bots and RWTers get completely out of control, and come up with all of these stupid, insolent RWT schemes to extract more $ off RS. But now, I can see that it was never the Jagex I knew from 2002-2009 - it was the bunch of investment bankers who couldn't give a [bleep] what RS turned into as long as they got enough cash off it before they sold off their shares too - leaving the company to go bankrupt and the game to die.

Well [bleep] them. [bleep] their asses. They could never understand how much this 'game' meant for me and many others over the last 10 years before they decided to stab, rape, and brutally hang RS on a pole. And Andrew - I wish you could have at least told us - left us a goodbye message before your demonic investors took over then raped the company and game to pieces.

    Lost,

    angry,

    profoundly sad,

but perhaps no longer in shock...

    time to quit, people.

  13. I'm sort of in the same position as the OP. I haven't been active since May'09 and there's a lot of things I've read in this thread that weren't even out when I was playing

I really enjoyed playing the game before, especially minigames, questing & PvP. I would go on once in a while, and already I can tell the game feels different. Hitting 10x what I did before, clans, and how less social the game is makes it feel like a whole different game.

I want to play again, but this thread and many others I've read are really discouraging me. Is it worth it to come back? I'm pretty sure all my friends quit too.. :(

This is a bad bad time to come back :( A year and half ago would have been great. Heck, 7 months ago before they re-intro'ed free real world trading would have been tolerable. But now... just

  14. I'm not scrolling past 7 pages so sorry if already mentioned - but 1 player that really stand out for me is larryr (http://rsplayers.wikia.com/wiki/Larryr), even after all these years.

She got 157M rc xp before tiaras (not to mention abyss, ZMI, pouches, teletabs, free xp games) even came out - absolutely insane. Even today, 5 years after RC and RS2 release, she ranks #4 in RC. And to add to that, she is an extremely nice player who never felt that her being #1 RCer entitled her to anything.

You don't have to be #1 in all levels and xp to really gain the respect of the community, larryr is one of the cases. I'm glad someone (not me) took the time to make her a page on the RS wikia - it really is a lasting and worthy tribute to a great player.

  15. Andrew used to personally read the Tip.it Times - and have actually spoken out against a perceived defamation article long ago.

What would he think if he actually read it now, in particular the botting article?... I really wonder.

Kudos to Tip.It for continuing to be an honest player's voice - even when the cheaters' camp grows ever stronger.

  16. Thumbs up for OP for noticing all those things. I was becoming afraid that I was becoming the minority for actually noticing how bad the problem is.

I feel like the game has died to us "casual" (if you're really "pro" then NONE of this matters to you because you'll play even when the meteor is crashing down) players who would never bot and who plays for achievement and the MMO experience. If you want to treat RS like a solo game for $5 a month or if you don't care if your achievements/bank means anything, then sure you can keep playing. I really had faith in RS for the longest time - but all that is gone. Most of my "achievements" are also pretty meaningless now. I would take a trophy on PSN over a 99 in RS at this point.

  17. Bots are here to stay as simple as that i know tons of players who use a bot or have like five accounts resource gathering for their main account...bots just make the game simplier and thts the way players want it , its time to wake up and work with the botters then against them

Please learn punctuation and spelling and then move to a botting forum - they're not hard to find and this is NOT a forum where talks like that are tolerated.

  18. If you're P2P and have your blinders on - such as questing dging D&D you should be (barely) okay. If you want to actually level your resource skills and heaven's forbid want an acutal resource (!) it's totally hopeless. And sadly, even non-resource skills like slayer and getting crowded out by the bots.

And if you actually want your achievement/levels/gold to mean something? Definitely look to another game.

And F2P is just hopeless in general - I'm guessing >80% of F2P population are bots now. You can go to the GE and ONLY find bots there and not a real person to talk to.

I slay, farm, fish, wc, train agility, and dg on a daily basis. None of those are "totally hopeless" as you say.

Achievements should be something that you want to get and/or are proud of. Just because others don't see them as achievements doesn't mean they aren't achievements for you.

And F2P is just hopeless in general - I'm guessing >80% of F2P population are bots now. You can go to the GE and ONLY find bots there and not a real person to talk to.

Guessing always lead's to something good. Especially when you have no concrete proof. When was the last time you went to a f2p world? Do you have any way of proving that 80%+ of f2p is bots? Try not to make statements that you can't back up. It does no one any good.

    1. Out of the few skills you listed, ONLY wc is actually affected as those others offer unlimited resources. And most wc bots are at f2p yews and p2p ivies... But honestly, have you not noticed the ridiculous fish prices, the 20 other ppl who just showed up on your agility course, and the idiot who have no idea how to dg but have 100+ dg?

    2. You really are not much of a gamer if you don't care at all about achievements. I'm not an achievement [bleep] by any means, but having achievements mean next to nothing is new for a game...

    3. Just today. Maybe you should've seen my other post in this forum. Maybe you should go yourself. A few places to see - GE, mining guild, chickens. decide for yourself then.

  19. It is literally impossible now for any new player to start RS now because every single new player resource is so stupidly full bots. Cannot even find a single chicken to kill. Even sea gulls at Port Sarim are being botted. And by not banning the bots, Jagex only risk to lose more of their legit players.

  20. I hope that in two years from now, when Jagex releases its next announcement, it will be one of success. They'll describe how they removed the nonsensical three strikes policy, describe how their old scorched earth policy works better, describe how they removed the Banned Account Reinstatement program, announce they've won several lawsuits against major bot and goldselling companies, and give the names of the top 100 players in each skill that have been permantly banned for botting. This is one announcement that we can all look forward to.

    And here's my wish too.

Although I am less optimistic about RS surviving that long as a game, or at least as a 'mainstream' game. (people still play Ultima Online...)

RIP the Jagex I knew 2001-2009.
