Whats the font that you used, and where'd you get it from? And I think, of the 2 the second one edges it, the lighting on the face seems more dramatic. 'gards Lemming86

Whats up with mine? Lets have some pointers as to the kinda style you'd like, Eissob. 'gards Lemming86 -
Good job mate. It is hard to draw somthing which is mainly seen as a computer generated character, but you have done a good job there. I think the eyes and hair and very well done and your work is definatly coming along leaps and bounds. Well done, Nifty Neo. 'gards Lemming86

Nice stuff m8. Photographic work seems to be absent from these boards. A time saving tip though. Use a prorgram called Ulead 360, which automatically stiches a given set of photos together. In a panaramic view, like that which you have there. Also, if the photos are straight enough it does this without any evidence of a join. 'gards Lemming86

Here is my version. Hope you like it. I am thinking about working on a newer version, in more my own style. Since you have to be so perfect when working in the manga/anime way, one line out of place will look wrong, so I found this hard to get right. Lets me know your thoughts. Oh, and I know that the trousers are the wrong colour, but I forgot which colour they were. Hope that doesn't make a difference to what you think of it. 'gards Lemming86 -

I will give this a go. I will post in a couple of days. 'gards Lemming86 -
Well done teenage loser, a valient effort, and a nice end result. For the sig I would be tempted to show only a part of Batman, maybe crop it so you can only see the head. That way it will be bigger so people can actually see the effort you put in. Keep at it, and dont forget to post any new stuff you do. 'gards Lemming86

No I don't m8, but I hope to someday! 'gards Lemming86

OK, I am on my summer break before I start my graphic design degree, so i will try to make a fully illustrated tutorial, which I will post when complete. Watch this space.... 'gards Lemming86

Thanks for all the comments guys. I am working on a new peice at the moment, but they take a while to complete. Thanks again 'gards Lemming86

Ok I left this out, until you had a grasp of shadows, 'cos it's a bit tricker. But if you think you are ready, I shall explain... 1)Make a new layer called highlights or something. I use the normal layer setting. 2)Use the polygon lasso tool and select the area you wish to apply highlights to. It's good to keep these small, depending on the effect you want. 3)Using a shade of the original colour, as close to white as you would like it to be, select the airbrush. 4)Using a light sweeping motion, lightly sweep across the area you wish to highlight. OK thats how I do it. Any problems, post and I will endevour to help you. Also, dont forget to post when you are done...I wanna see what you got! 'gards Lemming86

OK Layers are basically sheets of glass which you stack on top of each other. They allow you to try out things without effecting the image underneath it. You want to make a new layer. If your layer pallet is not showing, you can usually open it in view or tools or whatever. Click add new layer. Name it shadow and put the layer effect to Multiply Let me know when you have done this, or if you are having trouble, and we will try to pull you through. 'gards Lemming86

All right then Teenage, here we are, a cell shaded version. It is not overly slick, as I didn't spend all that long on it. But I will talk you through how I did it. If you have a decade while I explain.... 1)Make a new layer. Label it shadows or something. Put it on multiply above your base colours layer. 2)Using the polygon lasso tool, on the shadows layer, select an area which you wish to bath in shadow. 3)Use the colour picker tool and select the original colour of the area you want to shroud in darkness. 4)Using flood fill, if you want that crisp look, fill the area you selected with the colour you picked out. It should be shadowed over in a few shades darker than the original, giving you a proper shadow area. 5)You can select a darker shade manually, by double clicking on the active colour bit, which usually take you to a colour wheel to select a colour from. There we go! I would be happy to do a detailed tutorial on cell shadeing if you wish, but I myself are still learning. Post your cell shaded version so we can get a look at it! OK, the first bit of advice I can give you is to discover the polygon lasso tool, it will enable you to select certain areas, and shade 'em up. Secondly, decide on where you want your light source to be, it can be anywhere you wish, (after all your the artist) but you need to make sure you keep it consistent. If you wish, post the link to your image, so I can have a crack at putting some shadows on the beasty. I can then tell you how I got the results. Up to you m8. 'gards Lemming86

Interesting style m8, great fun looking interpretation. While it is obviously not anatomically correct, it has a fun caricature style to it. If you wanted to take this further, try adding some cell shaded areas to it, it would really lift it off the page. If you want tips, let me know. Whilst I am by no means perfect myself, I could give you some pointers. 'gards Lemming86

Can I ask you about your sig? How did you make it? 'gards lemming86

OK, here is a new peice of illustrative artwork. It was actually for my A Level art exam (result pending ). It is inspired by the Iron Maiden song "Man on the edge", and some of the lyrics are in the text ballons. I am heavily influenced by comic book art work, and quite like digital colouring. If you would like similar artwork for your sigs, PM me or leave a message as a reply, and I will see what I can do........... 'gards Lemming86

Very slick work, 'Nifty' Neo. Splitting the sig up gives it that extra element of visual interest. I think it suits your no nonsense "slick" style. Really puts emphasis on the strong grid like properties your work has. 9/10. 'gards Lemming86

Slick. As always. 8) I bid 15k. 'gards Lemming86

First of all good to see you giving it a go m8. Couple of pointers, even though I am new to sig making myself. I don't want to retread over some of the other posts but the text is a problem, just try changing the colour to suit the image to make it readable. Using pictures of characters and stuff is fine, but try to shrink them down "organically" rather than try to cram them into the sig space. By this I mean change the image size to fit the sig, using the adjust image size tool, and make sure you maintain the "aspect ratio" of the images, this will make sure they dont look stretched. Finally, try to be a bit reserved on how much you use the opacity slider, because you dont want the pic's to become unviewable. Try messing with the layer effects in order to get a good "blend" between the image and background. But a good start m8, keep experimenting and you will get some cool looking sigs in no time.
