Hm, I thought the whole mythos of Runescape was based on the wizards uncovering the lost rune-magic: hence land of runes--Runescape. And yes, runes are an archaic alphabet used by the the Scandinavians, Anglo-Saxons, and Germanic tribes. ( Tolkien also used runes in a similar fashion to illustrate the written language of the Elves and Dwarves in the Lord of the Rings).

So...fletching for cash, agility for overall cross-training ability, herblore to keep me alive and more runecrafting to help with magic. Thanks all. There just seem so many places to go and things to do... Now I have an ability list and a quest list!

Thanks for the information. I'm level 78 combat now, and 71 WC, 70 mining, so it sounds from the posts that agility might be the best overall skill to acquire first. Thanks for the heads up on Pest Control, any other "musts' for quests? Keep your suggestions coming, it's so helpful.

I've been looking to buy a rune herald kiteshield, but I'm confused by the various designators such as H2, H5 etc, as listed in the forums. Can anyone help clarify this for me? Also, what is the going price? Pictures would be an asset as well, if they exist. Thanks in advance.
