  1. "Only" 51k? That's quite good! Same as you can get with red salamanders. Other methods for red chinchompas give u at best 160 chins per hour = 42k xp.
  2. Timing might help (don't go during the top hours when both Europeans and Americans play). Also several players are training hunter only to be able to catch the dragon implings. It should quiet down after a while. If you keep having problems, start asking players how long they plan to train. Hunt at spot 5 in the corner until spot 4 is free.
  3. I think my format is faster, but that's based on logic, not on proof. I compared both methods in this picture: You can see my green "attraction zone" is bigger, so with my method more chinchompas should be going for the traps. With my method, chinchompa B respawns in the attraction zone of traps 4 and 5. With the method of Vmi90, those are traps 3, 4 and 5, so his method gives a better chance to catch chin B. But with that method chinchompa A can only go to trap 1. With my method he can also go to trap 2, so my method gives a better chance to catch chin A. I think having 2 traps near chin A is more important then having 3 traps near chin B. Vmi90 says that with his method you can get 100k xp per hour (less when you start at level 80). That's not enough information to compare with my method. My results: - about 85k xp per hour at level 80 - 91k at level 85 - 102k at level 90 - 108k at level 95 - 115k at level 98. If you really want to find out, test both methods at the same level. Because bad luck can ruin the results, the tests should be at least an hour.
  4. Several months ago I experienced sudden logouts (not a lost connection, but right back to the login screen). Then I got a new antivirus program, and that program said it cut the connection because of a networkvirus attack (don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t know why, that virus was not found on my computer). I adjusted the settings and the problem was solved. So if you also got this problem, try using a different antivirus program or adjusting the settings. Recently I have a new problem, mainly in full worlds: internet connection lost, attempt to restore fails so logout (not being able to login again when in combat). I discovered a way to survive: during the message about the lost connection and the attempt to restore, clicking still works! You don̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t see anything happening because the screen is frozen, but when you log in again you see it worked. Means you can still eat. Or run to a safe spot. So when I̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢m fighting hard and agressive monsters, I always stay close to a spot in a safe zone where I can run to with 1 click.
  5. You will be happy to learn that Jagex changed that. At the red chinchompa spots (I think all hunter area's) you can't get long randoms like Evil Bob or the twins anymore. You still get a lot of randoms while hunting, but not the ones that take you away to another spot.
  6. But at that level it never happens that 1 chinchompa manages to disable all your 5 traps. So most of the time if they disable a trap, they jump in the next one. I'd rather that this next trap is mine then somebody elses! Some of them manage to get away (disable 1 trap and walk away from the other traps), but then the other chinchompas in the area still keep me busy. There are only a few times when I need to wait because all the chinchompas have walked away. And only at those times I would benefit from sharing.
  7. Sharing only works if both players have a relative low hunter level. Then a lot of chinchompas manage to disable traps. If you hunt alone, they wander away making you wait for them to come back. If you share, there are twice as much traps around, so the chance they wander away is a lot lower. So then you both catch more chinchompas then when you hunt alone. But sharing doesn't work if you have a high hunter level. Most chinchompas get caught in your traps then anyway. When I was training for lvl 99, a few times there was a lower lvl player there with me. Every time I caught about the same number as I caught training alone (or even a bit less), but the low lvl caught less then normal an decided fast to go away. I also shared with high lvl players some times. Then I caught less. Also it's confusing when there are 10 traps around (which ones are mine?). About killing the chinchompas that are moving away from your traps: I tried that a few times. But they are very fast (they run almost as fast as I can run), so you have to chase them for a long time. And in that time you are not seeing a trap falling down or another chinchompa jumping into a trap. If you kill them when they are still close, it's possible they turn around and you hit them right when they are going for a trap. That's why I decided not to do it anymore.
  8. The combat bracelet is nice for farming. The champions tele gets you right next to a bush patch (I never used that patch cause walking there was too far for the trouble). The ranging tele gets you near the Ardougne herb patch, closer then any other tele. From that herb patch it's not that far to the legend guild, where you can recharge the bracelet. So if you only got 1 bracelet, it's not a lot of trouble to recharge it every 2 farming rounds. Besides from farming: the warriors tele gets you close to a bank. I'm planning to wear it most of the time as a spare, just in case I forgot to put on a new glory ammy / tele ring, and Lumbridge Home Tele is not available. You can also use the warriors tele to go to Burthorpe. That means you can make space in your bank for the combat bracelet by getting rid of the games necklaces.
  9. I have been counting herbs too. I used magic secateurs and super compost, which gave me a minimum of 5 herbs per seed. My record is 15. All herb seeds seem to give the same amount if you count them long enough. I counted 587 seeds, which gave an average of 7,40 herbs per seed. But I didn̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t count the dead ones. Add 50 dead ones and you get your starting average of 6,82, when the my arm patch didn't exist yet. That̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s 7,85% dead. Add 35 dead ones and you get your final average of 6,99. That̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s 5,63% dead. I started counting before the magic secateurs were introduced, so I also have an average without the magic secateurs: 6,9. But I only counted 51 seeds for that, so that number is not very reliable. For those who are interested: I also counted vegetable seeds. My average was 17,2 per field (3 seeds). Without the secateurs it was 13,7.
  10. At level 63, red salamanders give the best xp (about 50k per hour). But after a few levels, when you get close to level 70, red chinchompas give more xp (if you use my method). Dashing kebbits at lvl 69 only give 40-45k xp an hour. Red chinchompas and red salamanders both give more xp. If you want to train with red salamanders longer because you like them and don't care about the rewards of red chinchompas, change to red chinchompas as soon you reach level 80. You can then lay 5 traps, which means red chinchompas give a lot more xp then red salamanders. All high level hunters agree on that, whatever method they use to catch red chinchompas. That's because you can't use 5 traps with red salamanders.
  11. I have seen other players using the dice pattern, but I never used it myself because I thought my pattern was better. There is not a big diference in the size of the attraction zones. That depends how far you lay the traps from the rim of the map. But with the dice pattern you are not able to do what is special about my pattern: make sure that chinchompas A en B each respawn within the attraction zone of two traps. (If they respawn when the first trap is down, they can get attracted to the second trap.) With the dice pattern, you can only do that with 1 of the chinchompas. Near the other chinchompa you can only lay 1 trap. I'll try to make that clearer with a picture that compares my pattern and the dice pattern: As you can see in the picture, with the dice pattern chinchompa A can get attracted to 3 traps, so the chance that this chinchompa gets away is smaller. But near chinchompa B there is only 1 trap, so when he misses that trap or that trap is down, he can walk away from your traps and take a long time before coming back. I tried several places for the dice pattern and this was the best one I could think of. In the picture the attraction zone of the dice pattern is a bit smaller then mine. If you lay the dice pattern 1 square further from the rim, the attraction zone is a bit bigger then mine. But that also means that chinchompas A en C are further from the traps when they walk along the rim of the map. I think the chance of attraction is smaller then, but that's only a feeling. In the picture I used the dice pattern you drew. It's also possible to use a larger dice pattern: x... x ..... ..x.. ..... x...x That way you can create an attraction zone that is bigger then mine. But that would mean more walking. And you still can't lay 2 traps near both chinchompas A and B. The only way to make sure which pattern is best, is to time each pattern for at least an hour at the same hunter level. I didn't hunt after I reached lvl 99, but maybe one day I'll try that.
  12. Check page 2. There you can find a picture of the setup with 4 traps.
  13. Ofcourse! Thanks to you and all others that posted numbers, I had something to compare my numbers with. If you hadn't posted, I wouldn't have known that I might have something useful to say. That's why I recommend in my guide to lay 2 traps near each respawn. If trap 1 isn't working yet, trap 2 can catch it. I've been checking rs forums price again a few days (don't know world 2 prices). If you have a decent amount, normal price is 700 each, but 750-800 is also possible. If you have only a small amount or want to get rid of them fast, then price is 650.
  14. Yes they can. But you have to find the best spot to hunt normal chins yourself, and then experiment a bit with the way to lay your traps.
  15. 59 hunter you should hunt Red salamanders... then at 63 move right to red chins. That's a matter of choice. If you want fast xp to get to lvl 63 as soon as possible, go for the red salamanders. But Slaythemx2 is going to use the red chinchompas for ranging himself. Then it's wiser to hunt grey chinchompas (even when they are slower to train), so he can use those for ranging too. When the greys are gone, he has learned all about using chinchompas the best way, and won't waste reds for that.
  16. I didn't time it myself, but when I made my guide I collected the data of several players who posted their results on the tip.it forums. Based on those posts, I'm sure it's possible to get from lvl 1 to lvl 50 in 9 to 12 hours, depending on the way you train (having fun, or only hunting the animals that give the best xp). From lvl 50 to 59 an average of 30-35k xp per hour should be possible with falconry or net trapping, so 4 to 5 hours. If you hunt grey chinchompas from lvl 53, that might take a bit longer. If you hunt red salamanders (50k per hour) from lvl 59 to 63, that takes 2,5 hours. So roughly it takes 15 to 20 hours to get from lvl 1 to lvl 63. You can do that in a week if you train 3 hours a day.
  17. I agree that there are many ways to hunt chinchompas. In my guide I already said I don't claim that my set-up is the best of all. But I disagree with you that setting up traps in a straight line from east to west is a lot faster then my method. That's only true if you don't avoid the walk west. During the time you need for that walk, I can run (faster then walking) to another trap a few squares away. My character immediately begins to pick up the trap. You have to wait until the walk west is finished, before you can click on the trap to do that. And my set-up covers more squares than yours. You only mention the chance of catching chinchompa A. How about chinchompa B? I catch that one as often as chinchompa A right after he respawns. I haven't counted catches and misses, so I can't say what my succes rate is. That rate mostly depends on your hunter level anyhow. Because of the timing results that were posted before I made my guide, and the reply of nitram99 (changed the west/east pattern to my pattern, and nearly trippled the amount of caught chinchompas) I still strongly believe my method is better then yours. But never say never. Would you be so kind to time your method for at least an hour, and post your hunter level and the amount of caught chinchompas during the timing period? Then we can compare our results. Maybe you can prove me wrong.
  18. Nice to hear. I felt the same way when I found out how to avoid the walk west, and changed the east-west lay-out to a better one. Experimenting with the best lay-out on the best spot was even fun. I think discovering how to avoid the walk west is the secret to becoming a high level hunter.
  19. To be honest: I don't know. When I hunted the grey chinchompas, I didn't know what to look for. So I just hunted the first I saw. Only later I learned location is also important. In my guide I tried to explain not only where to train, but also why, so you know what to look for when you hunt other animals. Look for a decent group (at least 3) chinchompas close to an object that prevents them from walking that way. Try the south of the woodland area. If I'm not mistaken, there is a group just north of the ferrets (near border of map) and a second group just east of the first group (close to a fence).
  20. Runehq also hasn't the whole story. You're talking about another movie, when Bob and his now fiancee Neite are travelling around Runescape. I'm talking about an earlier part of the quest. Bob is being hypnotized by the Sphinx and then clearly remembers he was Robert. That's when you see the movie with the dragonkin. Check out Zybez, they have the whole story of the quest (didn't want to mention that name before, but now I do to avoid further discussion).
  21. Elfinlocks doesn't say anything, only walks by a shop in Canifis for a second. I think Jagex is just trying to be funny. It's not a real cat, that could be related to Bob (like my cat is the son of Bob), but a player made cat. And Bob is NOT Zaros. In the quest A Tail of Two Cats we learned that he is Robert the Strong, a warrior from the first age. (Too bad the tip.it quest guide says only a little about this, so I checked another site to help me remember.) Robert had a pet panther called Odysseus. He fought against the dragonkin, who were nearly immortal but couldn't reproduce. They made the dragons that we see now in Runescape to protect the dragonkin. In the quest you see a movie where Robert and Odysseus are fighting a dragonkin. The dragonkin kills Odysseus with his magic. Robert is also nearly killed, but manages to kill the dragonkin with his last arrow. But the real personality of Bob still might be important for the WOM mystery. He has a book about elder-dragons in his house. There might be a connection between the elder-dragons and the dragonkin that Robert fought. I don't know much about the story of King Vallance of Falador, but what if the WOM actually is the king himself? In Herman's book about the history of Dionysius (the real name of the WOM) it says that Dionysius was educated in Varrock, not that he was born there... And doesn't that partyhat looks like a crown? The WOM wasn't a candidate in the rs poll about the king, but that could be intentionally.
  22. Yeah, hunter is a skill that's also good for low level players. The training is superfast. The materials you need for training don't cost much. And the reward... =P~
  23. Level 60 = 4 traps  Changed. Thx for reporting.
