  1. In my own time ...

    Catcher in the Rye (5/10)

That's about all the literary canon-works I've read of my own accord. However, I have a list of 'books to read', which includes

Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad

    Ulysses by James Joyce

A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man by James Joyce

Invitation to a Beheading by Vladmir Nabokov

    Lolita by Vladmir Nabokov

As a part of school, I've read:

    Year 10

Romeo & Juliet by Shakespeare (6/10)

    Year 11

    A Streetcar Named Desire (7/10)

    Macbeth by Shakespeare (8/10)

    The Collector by John Fowles(9/10)

    Year 12

    Othello by Shakespeare (7/10)

    Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (4/10)

And, on top of that, poetry collections from William Blake and T.S. Eliot, both of which were very good.

  2. Recently caught this '98 movie called The Adventures of Sebastian Cole. It's about a teenager's life in the 80s and is actually kinda cool. It had a really good atmosphere that seemed to capture the 80s, or what "felt" 80s, but then again I don't know if I can comment because I was born the decade after. But nonetheless, it was a pretty gnarly movie.

  3. Diet Survey

    1. How often and how much do you eat Meat/nuts/eggs/fish?

Meat daily, fish three times a week, eggs about three times a month, nuts about once a month.

    2. " Vegatables?

About five times a week with dinner.

    3. " Carbs?

    Daily.

    4. " Candy/Junk food?

    About once a week.

    5. " Dairy?

    About three times a week.

    6. You are alone at home and you are hungry, you may prepare something as you normally do. What do you eat as a snack?

Dry/uncooked noodles; biscuits; chicken loaf roll; hot chips.

    7. How often a week do you eat outside your house?

Less than once a week. More like once a month.

    8. You average meal consists of(Breakfast, Lunch, & Dinner)...

Breakfast, when I have it, is usually far too small, though when I need to I will have bacon and eggs.

Lunch is often a medium sized meal - something like a chicken roll or nuggets and chips.

Dinner is usually carbs with meat and on most occasions, vegetables - for instance, pasta with sausage; fish and chips with cucumber and capcicum.

    9. You consume snacks a day, x=...

    10. Amount of exercise per day...

Due to a sickness for the past two weeks, nothing. However, before that (and soon), I go to the gym at least three times a week and do weights, working on all muscle groups at some point, and occasionally cardio.

    11. Age(opinional but suggested)

    17.

    12. Student Level? If not a student, are you under labour empoyment or desk work?

    Just graduated from highschool.

    13. Country living in and ethnicity?

Australia; Australian (European ancestry - 1/4 Croatian, rest British).

  4. [hide=Spoilers]Er, Batista won, not Undertaker - and Kane won by DQ, meaning MVP kept the title.

I thought it was pretty good. Not as good as No Mercy, but good nonetheless. The HBK - Orton match was pretty gnarly, and I'm glad Kennedy won - he's pretty much my favourite wrestler. The MVP - Kane match was a little too much of a slobberknocker for me - it was more like a brawl than an actual match. It was also a disappointment to see two title DQ finishes, but you get that.

I generally hate Batista, but I have to say he won that match pretty well. That spinebuster he hit was pretty good, and the powerbombs were alright too.

How on earth did the Miz get voted in? It must've been just a bunch of smarks trying to piss people off - either way, I'm sure they regretted their decision. Did you hear those "you can't wrestle" chants?

It was also a shame Jericho didn't appear - I was pretty confident he would. But it was still an alright PPV nonetheless.[/hide]

  5. As a simple MMORPG that is free to play and does not require a great deal of brainpower to start up, Runescape was destined to attract the morons, the kiddies and the immature players who are in part responsible for the apparent lack of a 'good' RS community. Yes, MiniClip probably did exponentially increase the number of such individuals; but hey, it's the internet - it was going to happen anyway. On the flipside, it brought JAGex profits which have in turn allowed them to update, fund more servers, hire more staff and improve the game in that respect. It's a Catch-22 thing, and as a business, I can't say I really blame them.

  6. I enjoy smoking occasionally. Drinking is fun for me. Drugs not so much, but I will at least try something before criticising it. (This doesn't stick for "hard" drugs ...)

I hope you realize that nicotine and alcohol are both considered "hard" drugs. :|

Why do people neglect to categorize alcohol and/or nicotine as a drug? Both substances are very dangerous and very addicting. In fact, many studies have shown them to be more (physically) addicting and harmful than drugs like LSD, shrooms or marijuana (thus the difference in hard/soft drug classification).

I've got some sources in one of my recent posts and more details in a rather outdated topic of mine.

I suppose it's because they require long-term or highly concentrated usage to have damaging affects. Smoking a packet cigarettes will affect you less than a small hit of heroin or ice.

  7. I've started getting back into movies lately and I've found that I quite like the neo-noir genre. There's something about the atmosphere and the antihero that I just really like. I recently watched Blade Runner and The Man Who Wasn't There, and Taxi Driver a few months ago. Does anyone have any other suggestions of contemporary noir films that are worth checking out?

  8. I didn't think members would complain over something so trivial. I don't see what's wrong with F2P getting something, especially since it's so small. A holiday event to add a bit of spice to the game doesn't go astray by any means.

  9. I personally don't drunk or smoke or do drugs, though have had plenty of chances. Don't know if I ever will, don't intend to at this point in time. The way I see it is, I don't need foreign substances to act like a [bleep]; not to say that everyone who gets drunk does, but that's what a lot of people do it for. Australian teenagers tend to have a strong drinking culture. I don't mind if people drink, but I don't want to know if you've gotten so wasted that you're on your knees, barking like a dog and acting like a slave for people. Alcohol for the sake of alcohol, when it's done to the extent it is here, seems a bit much sometimes.

I find it ridiculous when you get these anti-smoking campaigners going to the extent of coughing in the face of smokers; the sort of crap that Bill Hicks had to deal with. The only argument I can see against smoking is the costs it has to the health system; aside from that, it's a person's own choice entirely. Second-hand smoke will only result in severe damage if there is consistent exposure over a long period of time. If you're going to ban smoking - hell, why not ban fatty food, coca cola and any other unhealthy product?

As far as pot goes, I think it should be decriminalized. With alcohol, (some) people get stupid, get into fights, get violent, drink and drive and kill. I can't say I've heard of cases of people starting fights while on pot - instead (from my observations and from what I have heard) it makes people mellow, relaxed and calm; destressing them and allowing them to relieve the tensions of their life.

I'm not a great deal keen on ecstacy, meth, heroin and anything beyond. With meth and speed and other variants, things seem to get messy. I'd be very dubious about associating myself with regular users of such things.
