I think you're missing a quite obvious option; "Old runescape" is actually called RSC, and was pre-2004. And this is the obvious choice for superior game-play, community, and all-around awesomenoess. Unless you played, (as I did), during the period of Runescapes inception in early 2001 till it's demise with the release of RS2, you can't understand what the word "community" really means. When there was 5 servers, less then 10k active players, and you literally knew everyone playing; that was community.

A little off topic, but this thread has now reached over 1m views. I think that's quite the accomplishment! OT: Still no xp gains from telmo. :angry:

I dunno.. I still think the whole race to all 200m's is in fact hypothetical. It's not fact that all of the top players will continue playing long enough to get there. No one knows what tomorrow holds. If we can't hypothesize on this thread, where can we?

Alright fair enough, if Tezz starts powering through buyables he might just be in the top 3. Still, I don't see jdela being knocked out of the top 3 in a few months..?

I cannot recall, has Elias ever made it clear if he's aiming for 200m's all? If this is the case, and he can keep the pace he's been at, he'll be giving suomi a good run for his money. As for tezz, imho he has next to no xp in slow skills, I can't see him being a long-term contender in that sense. yeah ikr, only 200M slayer *sarcasm* Tezz: 18m fish, 20m smith, 17m mining, 19m agility, 200m slayer (okay 1 skill), 26m farming/runecrafting. and now SUOMI's turn; SUOMI: 200m fish, 200m smith, 200m mining, 200m agility, 134m slayer, 54m farming, 32m runecraft. Now tell me honestly that Tezz has lots of xp in slow skills.. Didn't think so. The point being; as stated, 'IMHO (<--- important part, don't miss it) Tezz is very unlikely to give either Elias or SUOMI a "long-term, all 200m's, run for their money.'

Are you seriously trying to compare something like, "not liking RuneScape" to, "not liking school or work?" Because yes, if you don't like RuneScape, then YES, YOU QUIT. Why? Because it's a completely meaningless game. And not IRL. And if you have FUN with the game, other then mindless grinding, why not skip the mindless grinding? Just because 95% or RS is mindless grinding, it shouldn't take away the merit of 5% of fun? Or should it. I played most of my character in RSC. And know what? It was fun. Not because of efficiency, not because of grinding, but because of community. When you have less then 8 servers, maybe a few thousand players around, you know everyone, and everyone knows you. If someone's idea of fun is grinding verse someone who'd rather get past the grinding to play something else, what does it matter to you? If botting became legal, it wouldn't bother me at all. Those who choose to bot would do it, and those who won't, won't. If you want to bot so you can go kill Nex, or mine rune, or smith rune plates, go ahead. Me? I'd rather be outside anyways.

Endgame content is usually (dare I say always?) the most fun. Blah blah blah honor and sense of achievement getting it yourself, blah blah blah. Fine, I don't disagree with that; if botting was legal then its not really a game at all, or worth comparing yourself to someone else, but. Endgame content is more FUN. I don't care if it's runescape, WoW, LotRO, GW, or whatever MMO floats your boat, its much more fun to be playing the endgame material with your buddies then stuck somewhere mindlessly clicking. If someone's idea of fun is to bot their way to max, and then play legit end-game content, so be it. Edit: Also.. if one were to subscribe to this nonsense of "if there's something you don't like, just quit' I'd like you to take that philosophy IRL and see how far it gets you.

Thanks for the list sockieo, another great way to compare progress. @Redorok, Never actually looked at Dapledo's stats, but very impressive, well rounded and everything. Possibly a long-term contender if he sticks with it? Jdela will be reaching 2.7b xp rather shortly, early congrats.

Thanks for the updates langer and Tong. Its nice to see a comparison of hours when the calculator hasn't changed.

Finally someone who thinks like I do... Seems like the cheapest and most effective way of removing bots... That or personally I'd spend 4-5 hours a week bot-banning in exchange for free membership, wouldn't be hard to implement either imo. Put a system in place that for x amounts of bans (including of course a successful ban to a misreport ratio) gets free membership for a month. I'm sure they'd have more people offering to help then they could handle.

I remember they tried this with the 'fatigue' system... You got tired and had to rest at a bed (and later they added sleeping bags), and when you rested you had to pass a captcha. I don't remember why they ended up removing it, seemed like a good idea (with sleeping bags not the beds, that was annoying), then again, I'm sure it wouldn't take long before they could code around that too. EDIT: My memory is foggy since this was so long ago, but upon further thought I think it was removed with the release of RS2 and replaced with the current random events. Which, IMO, seem to be much less effective.
