  1. I wrote my first post originaly for rs forums, so stayed a little vague, but let me be a little more clear.: - A guy I know who ones a computer repair shop was shown by a colleague how to easily clone a ggogle chrome browser, where the one who did that needed no more then the ip-adres. - Runescape does ( or at least did ) advise us to use capitals in our password.. but.. the password program is not case-sensitive. - You get stopped from putting in a wrong pw after a few times.. but this can be circumvented easily by closing browser windows at the right time. ( no I did not try it.. ) Obviously this is 'hearsay' but, I trust the sources. Lastly: security holes show up in browsers all the time, just follow the news.. to know this.. of-course the risk can be made smaller by regular updates etc.. but not avoided completely. The tip it forums itself once got hacked... Banks aren't stupid, they are just trying to make it more simple for the computer-illiterate customers. And why not offer the same option to RS players....?
  2. No, lol, that is a personal thing. I would pay 20 incl sending, but I am sure a lot off ppl would not go higher then 5 or 10 bucks. The word reasonable is to exclude price from the issue and discuss this regardless. So if you think 2 bucks is reasonable, then assume it is that.. But that's pointless. It's like asking "Would you agree to buy the security dongle for the price you would agree to buy it for?" That's equally pointless. We can only get an accurate representation if we say that it would cost, for example, $5, so that we could see how much of the voters would shell out that $5. That's a poll worth conducting. Well, I conciser a discussion on principle, excluding price more worth wile.. money gets in the way of things. ========================================= Other point, ironicaly the day w/ft returned I got a mail trying to fish for my account.. quite a good one, without an obvious tell that it was fake. I am a little paranoid...lol.. however, so investigated it before clicking anything. 3. This discusion has sadly been raging on rs forums for a wile now. I see some of the same mistakes being made here that I see there. Argument : - bots never left. - indeed, they were actually on the rise a bit , a lot of them main account bots. Sadly I know several ppl who botted multiple 99s without punishment.. how ever, the massive amount of goldfarmers, be it bots or sweatshop workers disappeared in 07. These are now back. If anyone doubts this, I suggest taking a look yourself. Argument : - bots are not a bad thing. - before 07 sharks were 450 ea.. not bad for fishers? Same applies to all other gatherer skills. - The money bought that was gathered this way will be used to buy skills or high level items.. -> unfair competition , higher prices for top level items then they would be without. Most of all though: THIS IS A DARN GAME... IT SHOULD BE ABOUT PLAYING.....
  4. Your 2 'rules' read like something I call : 'adapt or go extinct' . I have also played since 05 and have always adapted and enjoyed RS, if I would not, why would I play. Ppl can adapt, get better, regardless of being bad or nice, pessimist or optimist, etc. This is even regardless of stats, an experienced player, who knows the ins and outs on a noob account will often do better at a lot of things then some newb with a bought high level one. If someone got himself some account that's 'better then them' and comes in my cc , it usually only takes only a lil time before we all know that is not originally there account.. Being an ..[wagon].. lets just call it as it is, also mhas nothing to do with the 'size'of your account, in fact, often its rather undeveloped ones that have owners with lack of (verbal) manners. An other point.. its a sliding scale, with griefers, bullies on one hand and 'saints', really helpfull players on the other. Most of us are some were in between, I certainly am no saint.. lol. On this game killing others does not necessarily make you bad either..does.. it..

  6. Ehhhhh this does not make any sense. Who is punished 'for' death? Who is the 2010 prod? What does this al have to do with my thread? ------------------------------------ Care to explain?
  7. Can you explain, why you think you are immune to the problems I listed ? Maybe I can learn.. lol.. TX.
  8. before 07 I had a link on the forum of my clan, to some, back then very well known price-guide.. sadly I forgot the name, but still.. Having a guide price on GE will just save us the need to make and look for our own, so more time to play! I can only see upsides to this system, where I can not find any to removing a guide price. For instance, the few items I have collected a big amount of, I will still be able to sell for way above guide, to ppl wanting fast xp.. Its just a matter of finding ppl desperate enough to buy or sell to get the desired price.. same as it was in 07. Sadly, of course, I usually am in a hurry.. to get playing again.
  9. Thank you, And your 'rambling' makes a lot of sense. I am of the opinion you can be a decent person on a game, just as easy as in rl, or maybe easier, also.. like you can indeed be a 'badass' on the internet, safely from behind your pc. In the end its all up to the individual player and what Jagex allows . My suggestions to Jagex are to take some of the temptation away, but certainly not to make 'babyscape'. A friend of mine suggests jagex gives the 'loot' from a totally blessed grave to the one who blessed it, if it is not reclaimed (directly to bank). An other one said Jagex should allow players to set a reward for ones that bless there grave. All interesting.
  10. I wonder about all the people thinking there computer is secure enough. Mine has paid for highly rated security software, I use a non-standard browser, I never give my pw to anyone..etc.. etc.. BUT , with the 5 years I spend on my account, getting every xp, every coin myself.. I think spending a little money to even take the last little bit of risk out would be worth it. I am specially thinking of the huge holes that sometimes appear in software from major and trusted companies. My browser told me to disable skype's tool-bar, because with it others could literally see your screen, because of a bug. How ever smart or careful I am, that kind of problems is unavoidable .. I would go one step further, if Jagex wanted to put a little piece of software in this dongle to check my pc for macros I would really want that also.. just to avoid being falsely accused.. but I am sure there is a lot of ppl who would object to this, so I didn't include it. ps. on a totally unrelated note..well.. not totally.. it still bugs me to see I made 17 posts.. when I made 100's before tip-its forums crashed.. lol I like keeping stuff I built up, even on some website.. and that history being gone bugged me so I quit coming to tip.it for a wile. My rs account is also a piece of history.. lol.. But I am sure I am way to philosophical for a lot of ppl here..
  11. Please re-investigate the idea you had on selling us a security-dongle. With or without extra bankspace I would gladly pay for one now. This is not my idea, a friend brought it up, and I thought it was very smart. 2 interconnected reasons. ----------------------- 1- Free trade made transferring wealth out of hacked accounts a lot easier, and because of that the incentive to hack ppl just increased a lot. Ppl who played before 07 know hacking was a lot more prevalent. ----------------------- 2- Advancing technology seems to make hacking easier, protecting from it harder. Lately several of my clan mates have been hacked. I still believe the vast majority of ppl being hacked get done so by someone obtaining pw from the player, or by looking them type, shared computer.. etc. But these stories sounded less like that was the case. I know several computer experts who tell me there is many leaks that could be used. -A mayor mail program who's pw can be cracked by a program bought online in 3 hours. -An up and coming browser that can be cloned by only having the users ip-address. -An other browser told us lately to disable a tool-bar from an other big compagny because it could be used to remote-view others computers. -Then there is a few holes in Jagex pw protection, they tell me. ( they also say its not all Jagex fault, some is almost unavoidable ) I am of course not naming names, nor telling you what the security holes are. ------------------------- I know there is ways to at least protect somewhat, by .. basically.. being smart. - Good security software, firewall - A good pw, changed often. - Not going to other sites, including clan and help forums. ( they can then see your ip ) - Not share mail address with anyone. But.. this game is also a social game, and ppl like clans.. they like fan sites, they like social media.. To me the best solution is the security dongle that Jagex considered a wile ago. A few comments: - This is not a thread against free trade, just one trying to deal with some of the unavoidable fallout to an update that I will enjoy. - For as far as I understand this security dongle, it is a device that HAS to be plugged in an usb drive of your computer , or else you can not log in to the game. So.. It works like my bank, for online banking I need to have my cell handy or it won't work. Seems the best security we can have on this game! - This will also make account sharing, or being accused of such wile not having done it a lot less likely.
  12. To: myu I have said for years now : Levels, money, age, nationality... etc.. do not matter; ATITUDES DO! Levels and money have never impressed me, not before I have them and not now I have them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Triquos For me personally, I have been going to barrows these last few days and now I am constantly getting comments like 'lol why pray?' I thought not praying at Dharock was no problem, I could just eat or turn prayer on.. till a group of players spamcast tellyother spells at me, blocking me eating or praying. Result: 25 mil down the drain. Of course we all now know to have aid of at these occasions.. I was one of the first to advise this on the forums.. that was before 07 and this kind of cheating will soon be back. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soulthresher I am slightly disappointed to see the responses to OP's suggestions as an affront to player's personal freedom. Tip.It has never been the frilly, nilly RS fansite such as RuneHQ and RSCommunity but these responses seem a tad bit aggressive. Anywho... OP's suggestion isn't such a bad idea after all. A friendlier community of more helpful, nicer players. Even if the player community is young, brash, and arrogant, the older, more mature players can make a good example just by being a little kinder to our fellow 'Scapers. It's always worth a shot, eh? Whats could you possibly lose? Thanks you say it better then I could. I have ran a little social 'clan' for a long, long time. We only have one rule , one word: Behave Of course we have to elaborate a bit for some ppl and explain what behave actually means. Usually this works great. I have had to ad several things now, to avoid problems. no begging. no pking clanmates. Anyway, I also used to (help) run a Soul Wars clan, a lot of fun itself.. but total drama hell. Insults, baiting, deathlists, hacking(attempts), grudges etc.. etc.. A lot I see lately reminds me of this.
  13. Assassin5757 ... You seem to have a very bleak and selfish attitude..which obviously means there is no way we will ever agree. So, lets just agree to disagree and.. leave it at that.
  14. Honour is never stupid, maybe unless it kills you.. the game is related to RL.. by the simple fact that people play the game, but you will never agree.. As far as being lured or in other ways killed outside wildy for your stuff being your own fault.. that is extremely callous, its mostly the new, inexperienced players that get victimised. Being young and new should not paint a target on your back.. Iv talked about us needing these newbs.. the game needing them, if you need some more explanation why.. please tell me, if you do not agree, please tell me why. Anyway, the whole point of 'paying forward' is that you help a stranger, who helps an other.. it could actually come back to you.. Lastly, also to Soma2035, I can not prove this, but several good sources , including tip.it times, claim that ddos attacks and the like are getting more prevalent and easier to do. If this is true, it will also be quite easy to get legit players , even smart ones, killed for there stuff.. why even take this risk? What upside is worth this? I do see Soma2035's point.. in that more risk would help good ppl get together basically.. but, that is far from full-proof.. I ones went to DK's with 2 friends and a good friend of a friend.. in the end I was out off my stuff..
  15. Pre '07, people boss-hunted with far less valuable gear. Also, lootable graves at bosses is that this will give people an incentive to start "luring" at places like DKs and TDs. It gives people an INCENTIVE not to bless, when previously people would generally bless because it benefits the team (with faster kills and better anti-crash power) to have you return after a death. And since most of the teams at GWD were previously formed on the RSOF with strangers, this will have a devastating impact on boss hunting in general. Also, saying "QQ" really hurts your credibility and makes you look like a douchebag. A friend of mine made the 'funny' statement that it would probably be more profitable to start looting bosshunters then to actually hunt yourself.. Anyway, .. what does QQ mean?
  16. The whole point of talking about Apemeken is saying .. it is possible to impact a community. Jagex obviously has the biggest chance of doing so, but we also do. I actually think Tip.it has an impact on the community..
  17. ------------------- to me there is 2 types of pking, there is the thril of going in to wildy, risking your gear fighting others. The second type is going after unarmed targets, just to bully. I know I am generalising.. but, I do not think all pkers are thugs.. I did read some articles about among others DDOS and was flabbergasted.. Maybe I was a little naive.. These articles, also on this site, are among the reasons why I am against lootable graves. Making it so there is no financial incentive will hopefully stop ppl from among others using ddos attacks to kill others. Incidentally, I heard from a friend who owns a computer repair-shop 2 days ago that some browsers, I believe Chrome included, can be easily cloned, if you only know the others IP, with that you will have access to stored paswords etc. An other friend who programs for AT&T tells me DDOS is very easy.. Obviously I don't know if this all is true and frankly I don't want to know, only thing I care about is how to protect against this stuff.
  18. Lol, sorry, I blame it on age.. mine.. Please explain some more how a list of nice ppl would work, what incentive there would be and how it could not be abused.. etc.. I already have a bit of a list of nice ppl, its called my friendslist.. sadly though some younger ones reach puberty .. lol.. Anyway, to me this is about the little things.. its those that steer the general direction of the community. So, if jagex were not to make 'being an ass' easier unless there was a very good reason, wile making a point of appreciating ppl being nice.. I think it will help. I actually agree one upside to next weeks update is adding a little spice that rs was loosing .. specially in the wildy, I just think this does not necessarily mean we all have to become bullies..
  19. Exactly, the knife cuts both ways.. a wildy that's useful for skillers will also provide targets for pk-ers... foursideking : I can't find what post you are referring too.
  20. == You aim this personally at me, I explained in the post before this, that this is not about me being afraid to die.. I almost never did before 07, even though I went in wildy a lot.. I now don't monster hunt at all, since I have a concentration problem.. I accept this as my problem and do not complain about monsterhunters getting good drops . I also in my origional post explained that I did not want to remove the wildy, nor make it without risk.. so i wonder why you think that. A lot has changed since 07, a lot of new weapons and other offensive options are there now that were not back then. This means in my mind some parts became more dangerous then 07. I actualy understand and always wonder why most pkers do not.. that to keep the wildy healthy we need skillers in there, who get preyed upon by the less talented pk-ers, who then again are targeted by other pk-ers. If an activity becomes 'murder' skillers are just not going to do it.. Skillers also think of risk v reward. Which obviously is why Jagex upgraded the runerocks. I can go in to detail on all this , but the conclusion will always be: Wildy should be a desirable place to go for all types of players.. for the sake off all types INCLUDING pk-ers. Then about graves: we have had them for over 3 years, Jagex has taken this in to account when designing monsters and areas.. its all about the balance of things. An option could be to let graves of ppl going to hard to reach places spawn outside. Like outside the gwd, outside waterbirth dungeon, etc. Beyond al these details.. I am mostly asking for a bit off common decency on the game because it is played by real people..
  21. O it sounds like that? Well maybe I need to explain something about myself, even though this thread is not about me. I played rs long before 07, been an ( inactive ) member of Tip.it forums since 05. Before 07 I had no trouble staying alive in the wildy, I liked it over the new situation. Only reason why I accepted w/ft being taken was the obvious impact bots were having on the game and my hatret of cheaters. I will again enjoy the wildy, I will hopefully not get killed by some trick outside it.. because I have learned.. This thread is not directly selfish , the stuff named will affect the new and inexperience players more. This thread how ever is indirectly selfish, besides that I don't like this grim feel that RS is getting again, we all need newbs.. the game needs them to be healthy, the economy does.. and in the end if there are non we will become the noobs.. lol. I see the upside of free trade and wildy.. but what is the upside of a more grim, antagonistic, violent mood to the community? The game is played by people, treat them as such.. or at least it should be played.. not botted..
