Ok, it is another Wednesday morning and I just feel like writing, which is something that I really do not like doing. No explanation why, I just feel like writing today. Maybe the chocolate last night influenced me. By the way, I will write this expo in first person. You may have come across the term "original intent" in your government or American history classes. Let us take a glance at Random Events in the virtual (and in my personal opinion, completely useless and time-wasting) world of RuneScape, with a capital 'R' and a capital 'S'. Just weeks after the self-proclaimed "video game" first launched in early 2001, there manifested the problem of macroing, left, right, and center. Insidious, but clever people taking advantage of the game's then low level of detection and security. This probably was not discovered or detected until much later, perhaps in early 2002, because the well-known Report Abuse system was introduced on September 11, 2002. Note: The fact that this system was introduced on the same day of the 9/11 attack the year previous is purely coincidental. The very nature of the Report Abuse system makes it an excellent method to promote the integrity of the game play and the morality of its community. Players can now act as "public" vigilantes and the mere presence of other players deter would-be offenders from engaging in such behavior. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to tell if a person is macroing or really putting his or her effort into RS. False accusations of macroing are common mistakes. Jagex needed a better way to differ between genuine work and macroing. Therefore, they came up with a reasonable idea; interrupt ALL or MOST players that appear to be overly automatic or unresponsive to other players. If he or she does not react at all to these "random" events, it can be assumed beyond reasonable doubt that he or she is guilty of using another program to play the game for him or her. If a Mysterious Old Man suddenly teleported in front of you and kept shouting your name in your face, promising gifts if you talked to him, who would ignore him? Why, only a machine, or a robot, not programed to react to him would not. Since the introduction of Random Events, Jagex has become more effective in catching macroing scum and bring them to justice (even the insignificant world of RuneScape deserves to apply justice). - On December 12, 2002, Jagex banned 400 players for using macros, and I quote, ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅWe have very advanced detection routines, and we can tell if you use programs to control your character for you.ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

I started in the fall of 2003... I loved cabbages, they helped me escape from the rune spawns in the D-Knight castle in the Wildy.

When it existed, did you get to keep the amulet afterward? If so, when Jagex sweeped Evil bob's Island deleted the chest from the island, did players get to keep the Amulet? Thanks.

Mimes ALWAYS occur in BANKS. foresters (very rare) always occur OUTSIDE or in RURAL AREAS of people working on SKILLS. Drill demons (extremly rare) seem to occur outside, but i have no idea... frogs: anywhere, i'd say, they're pretty common, i see them around fally and fishing, but i don't see the point of walking around and people calling out "toad-face"... Quizmaster... as far as i can say, extinct

My fishing level is 60 now, by catching trout and salmon at barbarian village and banking at Edgeville. My goal is to efficiently catch lobsters. Should I go on to harpooning 2.1k tuna to level 65 for lobsters, or keep training on another 3k trout/salmon to level 65 fishing then and start on 3.4k tuna to level 70 for lobsters? My two options simply put: --------------Harpoon 2.1k tuna > Level 65 > Cage lobsters quickly Level 60 { --------------Fly-Fish 3.4k trout/salmon > Level 65 > Harpoon 3.4k tuna > Level 70 > Cage lobsters very quickly What do you think I should do?

Woah, I'm surprised how large this thread got, I was only expecting 10-20 posts beofre it would be crushed by all those clue scroll threads. Forester and Demon seem quite rare... perhaps the Leo the Gravedigger event also is fairly rare, though counting it just came out. I would be really surprised to see a nonmember like this: Blue Party Hat Blue or any color Cape Sara Kite Amulet of Humanspeak Lederhosen Top Camo Legs Mime Boots [Caution: Jagex Rule Violation] Mime Gloves Diamond Ring (even though you can't see it) Sigh.. Well, anyways, i've got a larger count for forester and demon then any other now so far. :arrow:

Hmm.. it all seems very variable in the times when you get a random event.

Skip this if uninterested. Read this if you believe everything Jagex tells you. I've been playing RuneScape for 3 years... and have studied Java for 2 at school. A completely "random" event? Unlikely. Black marks associated with these events? Probably. I doubt Jagex likes to give unique clothes and valued objects to cheaters and scum. Therefore... :arrow: Pretending to do repetitve tasks associated with random events?... If done in the extreme, such that more than a few hours of straight playing on the same world in the same place doing the same thing... Soo.. where did you get you're Drill Demon or Freaky Forester or Mime? I;ve seen some people wear the clothes, and i just really want to get them :oops:

Yeah i guess its random.. but not completely to the essence of the Java program Jagex uses themselfs? Isn't there a basis for a program to randomize events? I think it isn't completely random that it's all dependant on sheer chance... Java isn't powerful enough to stage equal reqresentation for 500,000 people playing at once on RuneScape.

Full Mime, Camo Helm and Legs?... With eighteen tockens?... You've gotten at least 3 mimes, 2 Drill Demons.. wow. Have you gotten any Foresters?

It seems that the Quizmaster or the Forester are the really rare ones... only that the you get some unique clothes from the Forester and only 1k or a "Mystery Box" with an uncut ruby or something...

I think its the Drill Demon... But Some could say Evil Bob, Freaky Forester, or Mime. I've gotten only 2 mimes in my intere 3 years of playing, but I mainly merchant, so... (Mime top, boots, lean emote) Frogs are very common, though, you can see people in frogmasks all the time. (Frogland music once, top and bottom a lont time ago, both lost) Post you're thoughts UPDATE: I got my first Freaky Forester on March 19! I got the Lederhosen top, but I would have prefered the Lederhosen Legs, so I could wear my Mime top with it.... :|

Lol... I don't think the Mime is the rarest random event, I've gotten 2 so far, but I havn't gotten any Drill Demons or Foresters yet. I think frogs are coommon, I've gotten 3 so far 1 cave, 2 tockens, lost both And Mime, i've gotten 2, lean emote and boots + top

I'm desperate. I've gotten 3 frogs (both clothes, unfortunatly lost, one teled to frogland to get music), 2 mimes , and 2 mazes from merchanting. But i've never gotten a single forester or drill demon all these 3 years i've been playing! ...soo, i'm asking how people got their's and where and what they were doing. ...This is only directed to f2p, though, i've got no inclinatio to joing members anytime soon.

Title says it all... There should be a new board just for random events, because their getting drowned by clues discussion. There's a treasure trail guide and a co-ordinate finder. Still people post every time they come acroxx a cle scroll This pushes randeom events back into the Stone Age. Post what you guys think

I've been playing for 3 years since the halloween [Caution: Jagex Rule Violation]s can out. I've mainly merchanted the past few months and mined and smithed, but I havn't gotten ONE SINGLE rare random event, no, not even a strange old man or frog, let alone the rarer ones such as mimes, foresters, etc, whatever that might be out there. And all of these people keep getting them!! Is it that I'm not doing 'random' things at random times? Or that Jagex doesn't like merchanters? I"M STARVING - practically from boredom. Click on the furnace minimap and wait 8 seconds. click on the furnace and smelt 9 steel bars. Wait 20 seconds. Click back to the Al-Kharid bank. Repeat 500 more times. It' generally very boring. How did you get any of thoese rarer random events like mimes and frogs?!! Somone post!

Bird nest? All I ever got in WC were sprits... When I fish in a smaller world, there's at least 1 random event going on, but when I switch to world 1 or 3 to cook on a fire, theres not a re in sight.

*Cough* A reminder that Runescape 2 runs on a browser based computer and by programming, not as real life anomlelies. In fact I sould make a thread "You know you've played too much RS when..." Your thinking would definitly be under that. Random.... yes, but Java programming surely can't use all that memory space just to calculate a perfect random chance? I doubt that Java based software can spare that much memory space just to ensure player's random events completely by chance.
