  1. well, the belladona is near draynor/falador patch... kind of near...

mushroom is near the phasmati/canifis one... and it takes... 30 seconds to pick and plant...

Limps will give like 750 xp per farm tour, if you plan more than 5 it will add up on that day. Super compst is 800 xp per tour... but takes longer... it's up to you at that point.

Cactus is kinda out of the way, I usually do it when I go to gnome stronghold using the dueling tele and glider.

Just a friendly advice to prepare for your tour...

Just make sure a couple days before you do it that all your plants are healthy for your first pick up... Just to give you a slight edge

  2. A lot of slayer monsters offer great profit. For example from my average nechrael task (150) I can make up 300k. Same with gargoyles, with the price of g mauls at the moment.

That's true... but the main point of Compfreak is that you can get more money and exp killing something else...He's not saying slayer is not profitable... just saying it's not the most efficient way to level combat. Off topic, I'd say he's just too lazy to return to shilo every hour! :o

  3. Is fremennik the 5th diary they are planing later on? Or are we going to have a quest relating to fremennik in december? I'm a bit confused about that. I sure hope the rewards for falador diary is better than just an emote and some useless seeds (mithril-like seeds...). I'm not too worry though...

  4. Love those spirit mages... <3:

    Off topic : Slayer sucks....!

On topic : Daganoths... 15 minutes task FTW. I also have a sick thing for fire giants... I remember the old days when people would camp at baxtorian falls trying to get the elusive and expensive Dragon Medium Helmet that was worth around 3,2M!!!! late 2004 btw...

  5. Put the letters two, eight, and seven in the first three digits of your reply to prove you actually read what I typed.

? I don't get what you mean. Numbers? or Worded?

    ANYWAY

So what do you suggest Jagex to do? There's always bad things that people can say about slayer when they're trying to train from level 1 to 85

Slow exp... high cost... dangerous... useless skill...

But from what I've heard from moneymaking guides on the runescape forums.. ONCE you hit level 85, abyssal demons will provide the second best amount of cash/hour below merchanting. And maybe runecrafting. --wait scratch that, runecrafting at level 92. You only need slayer at level 85.

But when you think about it, all that time taken and money spent into getting level 85 slayer will get you rewarded with 600k per hour. (Abyssal whip drops once every ~400 kills?)

With every good money maker, you need to invest some time and energy, and maybe sacrifice some exp into getting it in the first place.

But I'm a level 3. Free to play. And maybe what I'm saying is all wrong. But it's from my point of view :P

I'm sorry, but your rather misinformed. Abyssal demons are, at best, 500k or so per hour. There are innumerable ways to get more then that, like avansies or GWD. They are a decent task, as slayer goes, but no good outside of it. So really, there's no reason to ever use slayer besides 55 for slayer dart.

Besides from wanting additionnal levels and fighting abberant specters at 60 slayer for the best herb and herb seed dropper in the game and training a skill that's available for all to use.

  6. I dont mind Cannon-users, its how they use it.

Im slaying Dagg's in the Lighthouse, now there's already 3 of us here and a lv130 waltz' in and set up his cannon. i asked im could he world hop as this location is already packed, his respose "gtfo noob, its nto my fault you cant afford a cannon".... WOW! where'd that come from?

now if your the only one there with a cannon, im going to be grateful and world hop as your already training there and its common courtesy. per'see my situation? ::'

Like robert said, there's no such thing as an empty dags world. What you have to understand also, a daganoths task will only take 15 minutes with a cannon... so we won't be there long. If I'm rude to you for no reason, then I'm either having a bad day and shouldn't play or a hacker got my password and is trying to get me ban...unlikely. Just remember, we are only there for 15 minutes. You could do that too if you'd liked, cost like 150k and your task is done in 15 minutes. Take a look at your seed invent after your task and judge by yourself if that cost is acceptable for fast slaying (I'm not advising cannon on non-slayer training...).

    Have fun scaping

If gaining the fastest possible xp is your thing, then you are correct in stating that slayer is not for you. If however you are interested in battling monsters you have never come up against before, adding many levels to your totoal skill level, and having the chance at getting an abby whip through a monster drop - then slayer is right up you alley.

Each to their own, and obviously xp rates are very important to you - so be it.

How long is that going to last though, whenever I go to Duradel all I ever get are metals, fire giants, hellhounds, greaters, Kalphites, black dragons.

And even if I break out of that loop eventually I am going to go through all the monsters in the task list.

And the abby whip drop is overrated you can get much more using other money making methods

This basically goes back to your final goal in RS...money, "xp and lvls" or fun...

choose, 2 out of 3... The thing is, lots of money making methods give no xp whatsoever... gathering 2nds... tanning hides... you name it... It all boils down to a matter of opinion.

  8.

I have a few suggestion for you. First of all, actually look something up so you can back up your facts before making inane statements. I suggest looking at Qeltar's monster slayer database. For starters you might want to read my 'slayer sucks' thread; I believe you will find this topic absolutely killed in the 800 or so pages of replies. Second of all, I wouldn't stoop to flaming someone as an argument (Although that's sort of what I'm doing ).At the rates that most people earn money - and how infrequently they do it - a cannon is NOT worth using. Slayer, using a cannon and piety for most tasks, will result in a SIGNIFICANT loss of cash. A cannon is fun and helpful for slaying - BUT NOT WORTH USING FOR THE VAST MAJORITY OF PLAYERS. Don't go making stupid statements without any facts whatsoever. Go right ahead and read my thread - even the last 5 pages (~300 pages in text) of it deal with cannon usage, with actual facts and sources INCLUDING personal testing.

I look forward to arguing with you after you finish reading it. You can take ydraisl's place.

Well I'm kind of baffled that you took offence at my post in regards to Ray and to anyone calling someone a cannon noob... I agree that cannon usage in any way results in a loss of cash, let's put that aside because we both agree on that. You said that a cannon is fun and helpful for slaying... that's what I was saying, I use it on EVERY DAGANOTHS AND KALPHITE TASKS, not all tasks. I have 98 slayer with cannon experience on those two monsters alone. I never mentionned Piety so I don't know how this relates to what I was saying...and I have read your rant on slayer, it was well reasoned but like I said, not enough to make me steer away from my goal of 99 slayer.

I read Qeltar's guide, in fact Truthscape is a very nice site for other perspective on RS, too bad it's mostly outdated for the last 6 months.

As for the part about flaming Ray, at the time, he was popping up on the Held and Advice board every day asking for help and flaming anyone giving him help that didn't fit his point of view (so much for wanting help...I think he just wanted approbation...) and changing his goals every day or so.

On a last note, not everyone who plays RS do it do gain large sums of GPs, and not everyone who plays are willing to spend all those GPs to skill faster. It's a matter of choice. If I want to cannon my daganoths task so that it takes me only 14 minutes... call me a cannon noob, a slayer fool or plainly a no-lifer. My joy that Duradel will assign me something far away from you on the next task is my incentive and we'll both have fun while we're at it.

See you on that slayer sucks thread of yours!

  9. blink-287

After reading your opening post and last page's posts (not gonna read all 190 replys...) and getting some good arguments on both counts, I guess it comes down to a matter of opinion.

People saying, train combat through slayer BECAUSE it's faster are clearly wrong, though if saying train combat through slayer because it helps you train another skill, gives you a break from afk-training (some might even argue that afk-training is boring... who knows!) and diversifies training give some good point. If your aim is to max out every skill, then training combat through another means than slayer is pretty dumb (we're talking maxing out combat, then maxing it out again for 99 slayer... not very efficient or should I say...tempting).

It all boils down to your definition of fun also... I like slayer, 900k xp to go for 99 slayer. I don't like combat training outside slayer because the pace I kill monster without slayer helmet is a pain...in my opinion and a total waste of my time since I maxed out melee and ranged already and have a bank value of around 300mil, so I don't care much for money at this point.

I really appreciated your analysis with numbers and strong arguments. It's not enough to make me train combat outside slayer (melee combat maxed out anyway), but I'm certainly glad to know there are bright RSers out there to crunch out the numbers on a variety of topics to keep us all on the cutting edge of training.

  10. maybe because cannon is efficient in multi combat zone... and slayer is pretty profitable. I strongly suggest you try some serious slaying, not jumping from a skill to another every 4-5 days. And while you're at it, give the cannon a try at daganoths and kalphites and compare the time you saved and experience gained. You might just change your mind and there's nothing wrong in that.

  11. It's true it may be much more inefficient but it's just so stupid.

Your lack of willingness to see reason and accept efficient training always surprise me. Even faced with logical situations and arguments, you always find a way to look like a total fool with unsupported arguments, childish opinions and generalisations that are often simply not true or greatly exagerated.

Calling a way of training stupid when it is a proven way to train efficiently only makes you look stupid.

  12. Keep on using that cannon, there are enough daganoths spawns for at least 3-4 slayers under the lighthouse. If they feel they don't need the cannon, that's their loss, not yours. Ignore flamers or inform them you will only be there for the next 15-20 minutes, i've never had to stay longer than that under the lighthouse anyway. The cannon is one of the most useful tool a slayer can have... why not use it if it's there to use? Don't feel bad if the other slayers are too cheap to bring one, chances are they'll start using it once they realise how inefficient they are without it.

  13. I tested both when I was 90 fishing so these results will apply to you too. You can expect around 40-45k xp per hour fishing fly fishing at shilo (with fish pot and without a fishing boosting familiar (ibis or granite lobster)) and around 33-35k fishing monkfish.

Profits for both stand at 35k gp per hour fly fishing (this accounts for the cost of feathers) and selling raw and around 110k gp per hour at monkfish selling raws.

In comparison, sharks give 13k xp per hour and 125k gp.

Lobbies give 27k xp per hour and 95-100k gps

Tunas and swordies will give 25-26k xp and 80-85 gps per hour.

These results may vary, but expect them to be around those numbers on the long run. Have fun fishing, my choice is monkfish and I've gotten 9k out ot 63k for 99 fishing. My ibis has gotten me 600 raw swordies so far, it pays for itself (3-4k profit per pouch and 200 extra xp per pouch foraging...not taking into account the invisible fishing boost).

  14. I have been to the ogre enclave for the last week to kill blue dragons.

This place is filled with either sweatshop workers or macroers. It used to be the place to kill blue dragons but competition is really fierce with those around.

There are 2 spots that i know that dragons are close by enough to kill both one after another. Macroers are mainly on the east wall and have the same clothing: chaps, body, mage bow and steel-iron arrows. They have the same patterns, are not very quick on the respawn which makes them easy to steal-kill.

What i do is pretty simple and pretty rash. I simply half-kill the dragon they are facing and let them finish it off for me while i kill the other near dragon. Sometimes, a character will be taken over by a human player and the game gets more complicated... now you have to time both dragons to get to half health. The now human-controlled character will not finish it off, but sometimes they will try to verbally abuse you in a very unknown language for the far east. The goal is now to kill one dragon , get the drop, kill the other one before the 1st one respawn, get the drop, get to the 1st one and get it to half health before the 2nd one respawn and then get the 2nd one to half health.

Then repeat, finish 1st, get drop, finish 2nd, get drop... get 1st respawn to half health, get 2nd respawn to half heath... and repeat.

After a while, the bot or sweatshop player will leave for another spot or simply hop world.

It may be harder to do this, but you get the feeling that you fought the problem of the real-world trading scum and added spice to the somewhat boring blue dragons killing.

And whenever you see a character wearing ava's accumulator, you can pretty much determine that it's not a bot, at least in my experience.

Good luck on slaying blue dragons and help make the bots have a hard time!

  15. i have 99s in attack, str, defence and hp. Got myself a defence cape the day they were release because i was near lumbridge, realised they were overpriced at 99k and just banked the cape and put on my way better fire cape. That cape is still rotting in my bank. Fire cape owns in terms of stats except prayer bonus with a skill cape trimmed.

  16. over the last few days of killing dark beasts using prayer, I've come over something that is not covered by the herblore guide on tip.it.

Zamorak potions will boost a maxed player to 120 attack, 112 str, lower your def a bit and give a slight pray boost of about 9-10%....

What is unsual about the potion is that the last sip will not boost prayer.

So if you plan on using more than one zamorak potion on your trip to whatever you're going to kill, I suggest you use that last sip on another non-filled zamorak potion before drinking it.
