  1. If you were driving a car and on one side of the road was a hamster, and on the other side a toddler, you and me both know you wouldn't even consider hitting the toddler :P Well, no. :P I'd hit the hamster - not because I don't value his life, but because I very very much doubt the hamster's parents/family would suffer from his death. However the toddler's family would be completely devastated over their loss and suffer for a long, long time. You still value the toddler's life more no matter how you spin it
  2. Brainwashing since birth may have something to do with it, but let's try not to go there. 'just because' lol
  3. What do you want? A weekend wife? It's one thing to say no before the marriage. It's a whole different thing to divorce after. We went through this before haven't we? Marriage in the US doesn't represent marriage as a whole. Guess what the divorce rate is in the Philippines... Zero
  4. Hi, welcome to the 21st century I never claimed that my culture is superior to them, but it doesn't mean a culture should be immune 'just because'. That's just silly.
  5. Try guessing again after. Only two people has guessed since your last :( Gratz to Paul and Rick
  6. Lol no. I GREW in the Philippines. I have more culture than most people here combined
  7. Five new screenshots :)
  8. I'm not from a 'Western' society. Sorry, try again.
  9. MARRIAGE is religious. ARRANGING marriage is up to the culture. Damn man. lol. Yeah dude, it's called divorce
  10. I don't know what you're trying to get to, but I think that one of the main ideas behind marriage is being 'chained' to them. The part that I'm questioning is whether it was done willfully or not
  11. No, from experience, infatuation led to love. Love can be forced if you try. If I give you a volleyball to be alone with enough time, you'll grow to love it because humans crave companionship.
  12. Pray tell, what exactly is the official religion in China? AFAIK, they practice(d) arranged marriage and they're secular. Arranged marriage is/was used to improve interrelationships with other families. Where's the religious part? Give me a quote from the Bible, Qu'ran, Vedas, or any holy book and I'll bite my tongue. The ideal 'match' is of someone who's the same religious sect, but religion is just one component, not the whole.
  13. What if a culture practices human sacrifice? You won't say it's wrong? Sacrifice does not equal to being married to someone you dont want to be. I find sacrifice wrong just because i dont agree with killing a person when your not being directly attacked. It's THEIR culture lol Their's a clear difference. Arranged marriage doesn't equal lack of life. Depends on what 'life' means to you
  14. I know man, just trying to spark some arguments myself But infatuation freely leads to love. That's why I said it grows, not forced.

  16. You kinda need to brush up on arranged marriages dude. That is what we call 'gold digging' which belongs in a different thread.
  17. What if a culture practices human sacrifice? You won't say it's wrong?
  18. So you'd spend the rest of your life living with someone you don't love?
  19. It was :) but like I said, this tends more to CULTURE rather than religion, so knock it off
  20. Mind yourself. Let's not go there. :-$
  21. Does that make it right?
  22. Ever wondered why they're the favourites to be police dogs?
  23. The practice should have been abolished from any culture hundreds of years ago. It denies freedom from both parties (man & woman). Even though in theory, either one can say 'no,' but it's likely not to translate in practice. This is probably one of my most extreme views, but I'm an advocate of 'love' as something that grows, not forced.
  24. They need high profile players to boost MLS.
