  1. 1.) Money and tons of it.

    2.) Complete self-confidence and a whole new make-over physically.

    3.) To be immortal.

    Alternatively, more Genie Lamps. :P

  2. ...Sexually Abused.

Informative yet a tad bit biased and personal:

If dad goes for a walk with his daughter and holds her hand, apparently Virginia Department of Health officials wants you to pick up the phone and destroy his life by reporting him as a possible sexual abuser. I wouldÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve thought this article about this campaign was from the Onion or some satirical publication, but itÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s for real.

One of the most beautiful pictures IÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ve ever seen is a picture of my father walking on the beach near sunset holding my daughterÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s little hand. The picture above of a man holding a childÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s handÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâa touching little sceneÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâis actually supposed to make us think heÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s sexually abusing the child. Unbelievable.

    Informative:

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅFor years, campaigns to stop child sexual crimes have focused on encouraging children to speak up about abuse.

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅState health officials are trying a new tactic. The latest push, at least in Hampton Roads, is to educate adults on how to spot - and stop - sexual offenders.

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅThe ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâStop It NowÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ campaign - just launched locally - will urge people to call a help line if they see an adult whom they suspect of having a sexual relationship with a child.

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅBillboards and posters show an adult hand holding a childÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s hand, with the words: ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâIt doesnÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t feel right when I see them together.ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅA national help line number is listed, and through it callers can get advice about what to do.

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅRebecca Odor, who directs the sexual and domestic violence prevention division for the state Department of Health, said officials hope to reach people who might feel uncomfortable reporting a relative or acquaintance to law enforcers.

ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¹ÃâWe want to teach them to trust their instinct and, if it doesnÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢t feel right, take action,ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢ Odor said.ÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

  3. Unless there's a ton of mods on (and I'm sorry to say that's often not the case in OT) this wouldn't work. People would post in the wrong one, or they would spam, it'd be an endless fight of locking and moving threads.

It's just not worth it. I don't support.

I think that's going a little over the top there. You don't think making the forums a friendlier and more interesting place is worth it? I certainly do and if that means doing a few more moves and locks (which I don't think it will to that extent) then I will gladly do it.

I think over time it will cut down the amount of moderating we have to do on the OT board because every thread wont be turned into a spamfest because it doesn't suit some users tastes, like it sometimes does at the moment.

Well, I'll give it a shot. Kind of ironic with all the merges lately. :P

The only problem I foresee is things like posts that start off as lounge-like posts like, My Grandma's Dieing, and then turn into a huge serious medical debates. It'd be a quagmire of sorts. And this is common in OT.

  4. Most of those spiders don't creep me out. In fact, I wouldn't mind having a pet tarantula (the hair and size make them more comforting). To me it's the tiny household spiders (one or two centimeters or smaller), and it's mostly based on the physique and possibly movement, but mostly physique. And it's really only one type, the type with the giant backs, see here:

    housespider7152.jpg

Sometimes their backs are shiny, and it doesn't help when they have eggs near them like in the above picture and the one in my basement that triggered this thread. :ohnoes:

  5. I just saw on the news, oh well, sometimes he complied with Bush on issues he really shouldn't have.

Being allies he's forced to. Technically you could justify that the Brits still owe the US for WWI and WWII support.

And I liked Blair. He legalized gay marriage, which is great, it means he's for equality and can see past people's exterior appearance and knows what really matters. And as a friend said, he just followed Bush on Iraq, he practically had no choice since the US and Britain are such close allies.

  6. Lol. I'm not scared at all of spiders.

Now... crickets... and grasshoppers... that's a different story. :uhh:

OMG I can spend hours chasing grasshoppers.

  7. hell yeah! fight the power!

I am scared too lol, but daddy long legs creep me out more.. KILL EM ALL!!

pfff they arnt even spiders they are flies. wuss :D

they'll get you!! Just you wait!! The way they flit about and their ridiculously long and random amount of legs.. EWWWWW!! It creeps me out..

Apparently, Daddy Long Legs are the most poisonous spider. But their teeth aren't long enough to bite anyone. However, if you swallow one fear for your life! :ohnoes:

  8. It's because they can actually hurt...ever been bitten by a spider? I have, and lemme tell you, it's like a giant bee sting that stays around for a week. Hurts like heck.

That and there's always a chance of a brown recluse being around where I live.

I luckily don't have hose where I live. But I don't think it's the biting aspect. I've never been bitten nor worried about being bitten by a spider, yet they still creep me out. And I know others who are the same.

  9. Why is it we are so much more likely to be afraid of spiders versus any other insect? They are just like other insects, and some insects look even creepier than them, yet they still rank as a top fear.

Is society to blame for its portrayal of spiders? Or are spider's physique, or maybe even their actions, like building webs, the reason we so often encounter this fear, and on a rather high level?

  10. I have a computer with internet in my room but it's old and the cord has to run through the house. So I barely use it, but instead the computer in the family room and living room.

  11. I understand fully the need to accumulate money to pay for this site through ads, but I don't feel those ads should intrude on the freedom of posting and the communities distinct areas of posting. Banner ads are fine (however apparently it is vacant) and all other forms of margin ads are %100 understandable. But these new text ads, such as seen here with friends, fashion, etc (well, they didn't show up but they're dark green and double underlined) intrude on the freedom of posting, well in my opinion anyway. Although Tip It's Staff have complete control over what is done and can continue it as they wish, I feel these ads deteriorate the community and feeling of freedom that has long been so enjoyable around these parts.

I also understand the advertisements are being tested, but I've seen these for multiple days now. I just wanted to get other opinions in the community about them, without intermeddling with the staff's ideas and tests.
