maging rex is far easier than solo ranging prime. With my stats i still have trouble soloing prime after my team mates run out of supplies I recommend you hybrid with a team or mage rex with a partner It is very easy to find a team, look on runescape forums under the events subforum

Personally, I don't think it's worth it, with the time it takes to get the void you could of gotten plenty of ranged xp with dragonhide
