The newest Global Announcement
Well, if you would've invaded Europe, the entire European alliance (yes, me included) would have declared war. I believe I, along with some other guy in our alliance, sent a warning message to Japan or another country in your alliance about the subject, to which you obliged.

Synesthesia
It's not like it's loud. I don't know how to explain it, but yeah. Although, I have very good hearing, so I can sometimes hear my watch tick when the room's silent. That can be annoying.
-
Synesthesia
LMAO I just realized how dumb my post sounded. Basically, I can hear a clock tick, even if it's silent. I have to watch the clock, though. I think it's just because my mind places a sound with it or something. If I gently tap my finger on something (without making a sound), I can "hear" it. I think that mostly has to do with vibrations, though. Is it automatic? Well, yeah.

It's a conspiracy.

Synesthesia
When I type on my keyboard (without making a click) or tap my finger against something, I can "hear" the sound. The same happens when I watch a clock hand move from a distance (not the kind that make loud clicking noises) as well. It seems weird, but I think it has more to do with sensing the vibrations and my mind attaching a sound to the clock hand when it moves. I doubt it's synesthesia, though. Everyone can see heat... Just look at a sidewalk on a hot, sunny afternoon. The heat waves cause the image to warp.

North Korea Going Rogue?
1. NK sinks Cheonan 2. SK government shrugs and is quiet about it for over a month 3. SK accuses NK of sinking the Cheonan. 4. An international investigation of the sinking takes place. 5. The international investigation concludes that a torpedo likely sunk the Cheonan. 6. North Korea is accused of sinking the Cheonan. Accusation becomes fact. 7. North Korea threatens war. 8. South Korea says "F you" and shuts off most trade with North Korea. 9. North Korea tells South Korea to bugger off and cuts off ties. 10. The United States begins to talk with and bribe China into being on its side during a hypothetical conflict. China reluctantly obliges. 11. South Korea starts land exercises and naval exercises with the USA. 12. North Korea withdraws its guarantee to not accidentally sink South Korean ships. 13. The United States and China urge peace. 14. South Korea continues military exercises and psychological warfare. 15. North Korea declares war on South Korea and fires dozens of rockets across the DMZ into South Korean fortifications. Ground troops begin to cross the DMZ and meet in the battle field. Warships attack each other. 16. The United States declares war on North Korea. 17. The UN passes sanctions against North Korea and urges peace. 18. North Korea threatens to nuke Seoul. 19. The UN writes North Korea an angry letter. People begin to protest against nuclear weapons. 20. North Korea nukes Seoul. South Korea empties its arsenal on North Korea, thus provoking an all-out nuclear war on the Korean peninsula. 21. UN peacekeepers and Red Cross volunteers travel to Korea in order to care for the wounded. 22. Conventional warfare continues for a little while. Kim Jong-Il flees to China. North Korea finally begins peace talks. 23. The USA warns China against protecting Kim Jong-Il. 24. The United Republic of Korea is formed. Korean infrastructure is "beyond repair" and its economy is in shambles. 25. People protest across the world due to the anarchy within the global economy. 26. The UN "vows for reform." 27. The USA is worried about a future in which China, Russia, and Iran unite against the West. Barack Obama calls for a "new world order of peace and solitude." 28. Members of the Tea Party movement are outraged, and, fearing for the potential loss of American sovereignty after Obama's "NWO speech", attempt an assassination attempt on President Obama. 29. The United States declares martial law. 30. The UN proposes the "International Articles of World Federation". The European Union supports the measures, as does the US. 31. Mass protests continue after Congress bans most firearms and makes it harder to obtain one, thus violating the 4th amendment. 32. An armed uprising is attempted, but the National Guard quickly subdues part of it. States threaten to secede, thus provoking a possible Second American Civil War. 33. Russia, China, and Iran take advantage of America's weakness and form the "Eastern Hegemony". 34. The West responds by forming the Western Alliance. 35. The American government signs an armistice with the rebels. 36. The Western Alliance and the Eastern Hegemony start World War III. The Western Alliance loses a humiliating defeat. The Eastern Hegemony claims parts of Europe and South America. Alaska is ceded to Russia. 37. The former Western Alliance nation states meet and form the Terran Federation. 38. The Eastern Hegemony collapses after economic problems following the Third World War are amplified by an arms race with the Terran Federation. 39. Several Eastern Hegemony nation states join the Terran Federation. The Terran Federation now controls all of Europe and South America, as well as the Philippines, Japan, Russia, India, and Oceania. 40. The Terran Federation experiences tremendous economic growth and plans its first "United Earth" space mission to Mars. 41. Economic problems within former members of the Eastern Hegemony (notably China) forces the rest of the world to join the Terran Federation. 42. UES Geronimo sends the first Terran colonists to a site on Mars known as "New Terra". 43. The Martian colonies grow and are granted Home Rule, but the Martian government quickly becomes corrupt due to the distance between Terra and Mars. The Federation passes the Martian Civil Rights Act. 150 Years later... The Terran Federation begins to terraform Venus, Mars, and Luna. All is well with the world until the Federation encounters a hostile alien race during an expedition to Alpha Centauri. Could happen...

Sri Lanka's isolationist, so it's hardly a threat. Personally, I don't think that it's worth wasting your resources on.

Yes. That had nothing to do with the war, though. I had already set up a colony on Planet Britanniae a long time before that. I was merely moving my population there. Earth just wasn't particularly useful after the war anyway. I think both sides were pretty much taxed of their soldiers (with the exception of some reinforcements from Fortress America and Midgard, and Earth was pretty low on resources anyway. However, Planet Britanniae had a lot more pristine resources and could help solve some poverty problems that I was having in India. I was going to lose Earth anyway considering that I spent all of my manpower and that Dusty would never have sought peace. Moving to space was the lesser of both evils. Even if I stayed on Earth, I would have still lost Britain and would have tremendous infrastructure damage. A victory meant a Pyrrhic victory, and a defeat meant oblivion.

The NWO had sucky tactics until everyone gave me control over their militaries, then it became more consistent. The NWO folded when I figured that I could profit/salvage my empire by moving off of Earth. Latinoking then stopped playing, so I acquired his empire as well. Dungeonal quit because he lost Japan and I was moving our empire to space. Anyway, it doesn't seem like it's worth arguing about something that happened months ago on another thread.

Oil Spill Off of the Gulf Expected to be Worse Than Exxon Valdez
There are some parts of Chernobyl that are actually uninhabitable, though. I think that there are different "zones" that are determined by levels of radiation. Even people living in the safer zones have to take certain medication (well, maybe not the outer zones, but still). I remember watching some kind of documentary where a team of people got permission to go into the most dangerous part of Chernobyl in full Hazmat suits. They could only stay for short periods of time, but they explored an empty hospital that was left the same way as it was during the disaster. Scary stuff.

Oil Spill Off of the Gulf Expected to be Worse Than Exxon Valdez
Are they related in any way to Chernobyl, perchance? (Your sores)

Oil Spill Off of the Gulf Expected to be Worse Than Exxon Valdez
are you forgetting Chernobyl? either way, this could all have been avoided if the safety standards of the american oil industry had a release valve requirement on all the wells. The incident has therefore been ridiculed here in the Norwegian press as yet another over-lenient american regulation. I've read that Chernobyl could remain uninhabitable for another 180-320 years.

There's also a possibility that the pressure from sealing the pipe will cause another part of the well to build up too much pressure and rupture.

Oil Spill Off of the Gulf Expected to be Worse Than Exxon Valdez
http://www.propublica.org/ion/blog/item/more-reports-of-illness-emerge-among-gulf-cleanup-workers And the fun continues. Interesting. The BBC estimated 7 million gallons. I don't think that people are really sure just how many gallons of crude oil we're talking about in the Gulf of Mexico. With an optimistic mindset, it could be in the low millions, but with a very pessimistic mindset, it could be up to the high millions (500 or so).

Oil Spill Off of the Gulf Expected to be Worse Than Exxon Valdez
TEA PARTY IN THE GULF! Oh wait. --------------- This is a pretty worrysome disaster.... Right now it seems that the only way it will end is when the entire "ocean" of oil is drained. By then, we will already lose perhaps many species. How much oil is there in the area they were drilling in anyway? I'm not talking about the spill; I'm talking about the reservoir.
