  1. oh i used to take cold showers sometimes...amazing

    +1 recommend

although i make the shower a little colder than lukewarm not exactly cold but still chilly

cold baths = a hell no

  2. We could probably live without oil as a fuel in a few years

Very unlikely. We don't have enough biofuel production yet to sustain our needs; it takes LOTS of biomass to produce relatively little biofuel. Not to mention that it also takes up tons of farmland that we need for other things (you know, growing food). Also, ethanol's supposed to be difficult to transport, which in and of itself makes it a pain in the ass and probably not even viable in the long run.

Natural gas might be a good alternative. We have enough natural gas in shale deposits in the US to sustain the USA for a century, given current consumption rates. It's also very cheap. However, there's some controversy over it because water used for drilling can contaminate water deposits nearby, which can in turn contaminate our drinking water and livestock, etc. It's also suspected that fracking (the drilling process for obtaining natural gas from shale) may cause earthquakes, although this hasn't been proven yet as far as I know.

Hydrogen fuel isn't very efficient (just like biofuels).

Personally, what I think is perhaps the best option so far is to try to use cyanobacteria for biofuel production because it is far more efficient; leftover biomass from crop harvests could also be used. Still, the bottom line is that there really is no good alternative at the moment, although natural gas may prove to be a decent temporary alternative fuel.

  3. Climate change is real. I think that the only real controversy that should exist is when the worse will come, not if it will. The fact of the matter is that the world is warming due to increased CO2 levels. Climate change does occur naturally, yes, but climate change is also very dangerous to most if not all species on earth if it happens too rapidly.

If you fail to see the consequences associated with this, I suppose that you do not mind paying much higher prices for your meals.

I think certain industries have a vested interest in inhibiting any laws that try to reduce human impact on the environment because these laws could damage profits.

As a side note, I believe all of these so-called "skeptics" don't know enough about the subject. Something that does not surprise me for a generic forum such as Tip.it.

  4. Hey, I just got 26k LP to spend, but I'm not sure what to buy. I was thinking about buying an aura (like equilibrium), but I'm not too sure. Which aura should I buy? I was thinking about something that would help me in combat.

    -All 99 melee stats

    -99 magic

    -92+ prayer

I already have all of the emotes and costumes that I like.

  5. To all the Brits complaining about high prices if it was held in the USA, it costs American fans a hell of a lot of money to travel to the UK for things like this. Lodging in London is expensive, and airplane tickets to the UK can easily cost $1500 or more. By the time you consider transportation, lodging, food, airfare, etc., that's quite a bill.

As for the US having a lot of gamer conventions while the UK barely has any, that's irrelevant. The majority of us have never even heard of those conventions, so it's not like we're having all the fun over here while you guys get nothing. It's almost like saying "Well, this country has too many tourist attractions, so they deserve to have less!"

Also, this is slightly off-topic, but I believe that Jagex should consider something like Blizzard did recently and offer Runefest on PPV television. Maybe they could somehow give you a unique code if you order the program, and you could redeem that for an item, just as if you actually went to the event. Jagex still gets their money, and people are happier.

  6. The Zombie (or Skeleton) monkeys under the temple in Ape Atoll is a great place to train as the monkeys give good XP, have a good respawn rate and you can camp indefinitely by using a melee prayer as there is a temple to recharge the Prayer points extremely close. Now I did it from Attack 60 to 72 there so I am not sure if it is still good for near maxed stats.

It's a good place to train, but it's nowhere near the best XP rate. If you absolutely cannot stand competition for spawns, go here. This place is AFKable anyway.

  7. A physicist would probably rip your head off if you said that in front of them.

I don't know much about this area, but I agree that nothing's proven/disproven until other other experiments are ran elsewhere. Hell, it could be some strange exception to a rule or maybe allow scientists to have evidence of some strange phenomenon, or perhaps this somehow strengthens Einstein's theory. This experiment is not rubbish.
