Help with family knowing please?

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong forum, it's the closest i could find for this particular problem.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Anyway, my brother mad me quit at the start of Januarary 2007. He said it does me no good..but still doesn't mind me still being on the computer for the same amount of time that i would be spending on runescape daily.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The fact is, i still play (have been since around 10 days after i "quit") just have to change windows if someone walks past as my family don't think i play. My dad cancelled my membership, so i payed by test for the couple of months membership. This is definatly not ideal from playing, as whatever i am doing if anyone walks past whilst i am on computer, i have to swap windows. This will just not be right..if i decided to train meelee and had to swap windows i could easily die. My family think i play no games, but are aware i spend time on computer, they just think i am talking to friends etc i assume.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I'm not sure what to do, i would like to be able to play without changing windows, any ideas on what i could/should do?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

My brother pursuaded my parents it was bad and if i didn't stop it would take over my life when i go to uni etc. This is strictly not true. Anyway they see me on the computer anyway.

well i cant really say much seems i have a kid of my own but what i would do is tell ur dad its just a game and u can still do eveything else like homework and cleaning or whatever they ask of u just let them know it does not stop u from other things if that dont work just say ive been playing the game for a while now and u didnt have a clue i was playing runescape and see dad i still been doing other things well i hope i helped if not am sorry best of luck

Yes, or for some time try to stay same amout of time outside playing games with friends or meeting girls. Afther a while you parents will be pleased that you stay at home (even playing RS).

First thing: you say "your brother persuaded your parents" - how much do your parents know about online games. How much do they know regarding spending time online whatsoever (chatting with friends... chatting with strangers... online communities... surfing educational sites.... surfing other parts of the internet... you name it...). I dont mean for you to explain *here* how much your parents know, I mean you should ask yourself the question, and think about it.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Perhaps a good start would be to direct them to Runescapes parents guide? Start with taking a look at it yourself next time you are online.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Second thing to ask yourself is if your parents view on online games is different from not-online-games (sorry, cant find the right word atm, single player games on computer I mean). If that view differ, the question is why.

i go through thr same thing as you so i hear ya out. sibilings are a down right pest and it sounds like your brother is a downright weaseling git. try to make an agreement to your parents, you do certain amount of hw /study, and over the time of it, you can be rewarded membership, or access to rs without constantly poping a window up/down. and him thinking it will take over your life, doubtful, i only know of 1 kid who did that, and well it was on 20-1, an australian show. little fat german kid smashed his comp and threw keyboard out windows etc, and guess what the monitor had open?

There are two kinds of people :

 

 

 

Mentally weak - Addiction takes the better off you

 

 

 

Mentally strong - Can resist the addiction.

 

 

 

Now think first : Are you weak or strong?

 

 

 

If you think you're strong, then persuade your parents to a deal that you only play some time each day and keep your schooling at a good rate.

 

 

 

If you're weak, try to either become stronger and force yourself to resist it (For example play 1 hour a day and then quit using the computer for the rest of the day, each day for some time).

 

 

 

Or try to quit fully.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I myself was weak when I started, but then I made a computer lock for myself (computer only let me access the computer from 5pm to 6pm)

 

 

 

After a month of that I removed it and what do you know, I kept on playing for an hour a day (except those rare days when I had nothing else to do)

Ok now.. All you have to do is pretend that you havent been playing rs behind their backs..

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THEN tell them you would like to go back to playing runescape, and show them the parents guide part of the rs website.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

And finally, explain to your parents that it is better to play runescape, instead of doing drugs and getting girls pregnant.

I guess i am sort of mentally weak, but i also really enjoy runescape and it relaxes me, that's why i play.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also not sure whether i should say i've been playing, or can i start again, as always your replies, help/advice etc are always helpful and are greatfully recived. :)
