Aneron
Once I finish my goal of 99 firemaking, the chances are it will be summer and I will get some members time \ to get my cape. After that I was considering 99 cooking. I wondered what the best combination of lobsters, monkfish, and sharks at what levels would be. Thanks
Dragontotem
sharks all the way (though it costs ALOT) ">[4Th in Finland to achieve 99 mining. 3Rd of June 2007]Pixels make me horny.
Aneron
I have financial issues :boohoo: I was thinking something along the lines of lobsters until I rarely burn monkfish, monkfish until I don't burn sharks, and sharks to 99. Or would it be better to stay with monkfish until 99? How do most people do it? Is it the best way of doing it? If not, what is the best way of doing it? Dragontotem
most players get it with lobbies, and to 99 cooking it costs about 25m ">[4Th in Finland to achieve 99 mining. 3Rd of June 2007]Pixels make me horny.
Aneron
Whoa, I was thinking along the lines of needing ~12M xp to 99, which is about 57k monkfish. Assuming there is a 100 gp difference between cooked & raw prices, you lose 5.7M. Of course that doesn't include burns, but I doubt they could throw it off by more than an additional 2M... Dragontotem
Well, 25m is if you buy all 100k lobsters at once But if you buy 10k a time for 250 ea, sell for 220 ea, you will need only 2.5m, and still you get 2.2m back so you only lose 300k ">[4Th in Finland to achieve 99 mining. 3Rd of June 2007]Pixels make me horny. munchkinmage
I cooked lobsters until 94, then sharks to 99... I'm 97 so far, and with 10k more sharks I'll have 99. As long as you have cooking gauntlets, switch to sharks at 94 no matter what. I dunno about monks, but lobsters to 94 worked fine for me.

I'm at it at the moment too, part as part of an xp competition, and to get to level 99. It's pretty hard to do it without losing any money, I bought sharks when they were still 1k then stopped playing, so now I've lost money on them by just not playing! Monkfish, if you have the patience, can be bought and sold with minimal losses, but it's hard and takes a while, plus maybe isn't worth it if you're burning them. Lobs however, are very easy to get hold of and fairly stable in price, typically going at 250 raw and 200 cooked, if you get lucky you may get prices in between those. Basically with that method, for every 120k xp you'll be losing 50k max, so you're looking at a lose of...5mil max there I guess for 12M xp. I feel like my numbers aren't worked out right given your monkfish estimate though...
Aneron
:P yes I couldn't remember how much xp they gave, guessed 210 when they are 150.... If you can do lobsters that cheaply, I will definetely do them to 94. Then I will decide whether to switch to sharks/monkfish.
