  1. My problem is that I get my thing pretty well set up with the tabs I typically use but then if I open up something that I typically don't use, it gets automatically added to my interface somewhere and creates a scrollbar and then I have to go and delete it. Is there a way around that? :|
  2. Can someone explain the difference between this and just using momentum? It looks like legacy mode is going to be integrated with EOC-world so are they planning on having people running around with 990 hp and others with 9000? So monsters do different amounts of damage to people in one mode or the other? I really don't understand this.
  3. this. it has 60% currently, will be interesting to see if it changes as the sample size grows
  4. Does anyone know what it means if I got the Occultist and Whaler in the port, but don't have access to their triple voyage? (I have already done the first of the 3 triples for them) I also have the unlock missions for 2 of the new adventurers; could those be crowding the triple voyage out? I just don't really want to unlock them to stop them from crowding out the adventurers I need to finish my triples. :|
  5. I started playing scape in 2004, and while I dislike the periodic 'RS is dying' dramas as much as the next guy, I don't think it's ever been closer to being true than now. I stopped playing regularly about 3 years ago (blame league of legends), and since then I feel like I've watched the average number of players online decrease slowly but continuously. Some of that is the removal of bots of course, but it used to make it to 200k at peak times (summer, evening). Right now it's summertime and there's like 50k people online; the most populous world has 1100 people in it. There's like 3 worlds over 1000. There were a lot of bots, but I'm pretty sure they didn't constitute the majority across the entire game. I would argue that the population drop also has a lot to do with people not wanting to play scape anymore. I think people left for a lot of reasons: better free/cheap games, the removal of the successful PvP system (by the time it came back the community was largely gone), and a long period of time without many interesting updates. It felt like for multiple years Jagex was just trying to provide adequate replacements for the old Wilderness (volcano bounty hunter, clan wars, pvp servers, bounty hunter pvp servers, removal of pvp servers blah blah), and as a result worked really hard on content that really didn't satisfy the old pvp customers. As a result, people not interested in PvP, but rather quests and monster hunting (myself) went a long time without much new content (corp beast and nex were 2.5 years apart) and eventually moved on. Jagex's new business model seems to be: small customer base, get lots of money per customer, instead of the old have a massive number of members all paying a little bit. Even though they're still making a lot of money, ultimately I don't see that ending well because you can't count on someone to shell out tons of money forever - they will need to recruit new players, and so far as I can see they aren't, really. The F2P is massively outclassed by other F2P games and they really need to spend time on it to make it competitive. Until then the attrition will continue.
  6. I'm interested in why you say Jagex can no longer survive on just RS subscriptions (not that there is a reason they have to) - is it because of lost members or increased expenses? I think most people would say the single biggest member-losing decision they made was the years of no free trade - but during all (or almost all, idr) of those years, they survived without microtransactions. With regard to increased expenses, I'd say that, with the exception of EoC, there was not a tremendous amount of content in a lot of this time either - an average of <1 quest per month (i.e. don't scape for a semester, come back and there is one new quest requiring you to fight an enemy above level 5) and maybe one boss per year (since the release of dungeoneering in april 2010 there weren't any besides nex, qbd, har'aken, and then the gwd remake accompanying eoc right?). I feel like the last couple years were dominated by very unexciting things like D&Ds, that presumably also require less development time. Maybe I'm discounting the buildup of expenses like porting everything into different languages and different detail levels, but microtransactions seem to me more like an exploration of a new revenue source than an attempt to survive. Or maybe they dropped too much on mechscape / stellar dawn / transformerscape :<
  7. my theory is that they no longer release content in the summer because that's when people are going to be members anyways
  8. so are these videos instead of the old posts?
  9. LoL would be happening, or I'd maybe finish reading Jon Stewart's picture book. gf my productivity
  10. combat seems like it has moved substantially closer to being LoL
  11. question: for max xp in c2s do you skip the half xp spots?
  12. Hey, I'm not seriously training fishing but I decided it would be good and efficient and stuff to pick up fishing xp from the floors that I have to rush anyways. I've been getting about 45k fish xp and 45k wc xp /hour by running through the floors and chopping/fishing everything (86 fish, 91 wc with prom hatchet, floor time ranges 5-10 minutes). Is this the best way to do this, assuming I value xp in both skills? I was wondering if it would be better to skip the spots/trees that give half xp... any suggestions? Thanks!
  13. good thing I don't have any expensive gear L
  14. in 77 you get attacked sometimes but as long as you're wearing armor you can pretty much tank forever/until the monster is gone
  15. Does the female model showing more skin than the male model bother you? If this weren't the case, how would we be able to differentiate sex? Also, how logical is it that Bandos, a very large goblin God, drops armor that fits perfectly on humans? You're not fighting Bandos in the God Wars Dungeon, you're fighting General Graador. And you could differentiate between sexes quite fine considering that their body shapes are completely different. You don't need extra skin shown achieve the same effect when the previous methods have worked well for over 5 years. don't pretend you don't understand fan service in video games :---)
  16. I stopped playing (idk if that's quit but I've gained like no xp in more than a year) because I got bored. Ran out of stuff to do. Hunted every boss did every quest grinded 99s til I was tired of it (honestly getting tired of it should have been easier haha). The rate of new content just wasn't fast enough I guess. I resub every now and then if I anticipate being bored a lot in the upcoming month (prob do ROTM and darkmeyer over winter break) but really playing continuously you will end up grinding and that isn't worth my money imo. RS was my first big gaming hobby so it was kind of difficult to leave but honestly mobas like LoL are free and more fun - prestige is determined by skill, not how many hours you have spent clicking 'chop-down ivy' or whatever. Maybe some people don't prefer that but it was definitely a welcome change for me.
  17. out of curiosity, why do you hate to say it? I mean, that is probably my number one favorite thing to say about a month's updates
  18. lulz I would totally drop a fire cape for that pet
  19. Well basically this is a bad time to make money by gathering any raw resource and selling it. It is, however, an excellent time to spend money by buying raw resources and using them to get experience.
  20. I don't do this too much but whenever I get a wf task I just pick up the bonus before heading over. I'd say WF are definitely your best bet, as they have a better summoning/hp ratio than rock lobsters, and are cheaper. Be sure to kill them in the CT so you can use an iron titan too - it actually speeds it up by a ton.
