I think this is an excellent example of a thread where a highly minimal number of the posts get read. I used to play a lot but as is the pattern, eventually I decided I'd rather have fun instead of grinding so I stopped. It is possible to have fun doing group stuff but most of my friends have gone the same direction so it's off to other games.

I thought the xp wasn't from the stone anyways, just some npc training if you really want an explanation the post about only having touched it for a moment seems reasonable though.

Business, that's 1 reason. thats probably the only reason to. In my personal opinion its sad that they gloat that they are the number 1 free game but refuse to give f2p players cosmetic items with no stats. how silly for a business to take actions according to business, lol

RS isn't the only free/cheap game on the internet and I think there are plenty games out there that do a better job than the f2p and arguably the p2p version of RS, although that's just my preference. anyways so to me it isn't worth the $5, let alone more

expected value of staking normally: 50% win 50% loss +/- your own ability expected value of staking now (let's say 10% of stakers know the bug): 45% win 5% draw 50% loss +/- your own ability assuming average ability, staking is now an expected loss unless you know the bug and that is why you wouldn't stake right now.

My impression with this game is that most people put up with boredom in exchange for the occasional vibe that comes from a level or drop or pk. As levels get farther apart, and lucky drops become less of your bank proportionally, the vibe becomes weaker while the boredom remains constant. At least that's what happened with me. People who keep grinding out 200Ms might actually enjoy it (which is puzzling), but I think more likely they just feel committed to RS because of how much they've put in the pot already, or they just haven't stumbled onto something else to pour their free time into. And it does make sense that the less emotionally invested you are in this game (or anything), the smaller in magnitude the highs and lows you get from it are.

Never knew why people did lobs. I've got 99 Summoning 3 times... 2 of those times 97 - 99 was in one day, or just over, including collecting the charms at waterfiends / TDs (for effigies). They may be boring and require more attention, but it's still very fast. if you need mage xp and charms, there is no better place true but in general slayer is more efficient, as you can summon and slay with no loss to slayer xp, while there are better ways to do magic than rock lobs. and if you already have 99 summoning you can actually get rock lob types of charms/hr at chaos tunnel waterfiends for a lot cheaper. but I suppose that's irrelevant for most people

I think it's interesting that if you put your time into getting levels, if you get hacked you get the levels back. However, if you put your time into making money and get hacked, it's gone for good. Subtle message about what Jagex prefers for players to do? L

it works fine for 5 man games in league of legends; that game might have a more mature player base though. I'd use it with people I know well, but definitely not any public clan chats like TSG
