Fluff
Yes. your RuneScape character and account and items are and remain the property of Jagex. Quoted from the KB. If people sell what isn't theirs, it's stealing right. Isn't stealing punishable by Law?....I think that Jagex should take legal action against ferquent rule 12 breakers. Yes. It's not about the other people, its about shooting cute furry things that explode. I sincerely hate any-one who replies to a quote in their signature.Amen to that! Preach it brother! -Devoted12-
Although that seems only fair, it isn't as easy as that. Let's compare this to a real life situation.... Your not supposed to sell drugs either because it is also against the law. Do people still sell? Yes, they do. Will they ALWAYS go to jail? No because it's too hard and time consuming to try to track down every rule breaker out there. It's simply not possible. The same goes with this. Yes, it is Jagex's property, yet people still sell their account away. Is it against the law? Yes. Do people still do it? Of course. Why? For money of course! From what I understand, Jagex does punish people in one way or another. It may not be legal action, but what would be the point of it? Why would Jagex pay for an attorney over a character or rare only worth around $250 to them. They'd be spending more money just hiring the attorney. It's too long of a process for something soo little. They just simply ban the accout for real-world item trading, and it's over with. Jagex would be actually losing money by filing charges, plus they'd be wasting time that they don't have. I agree that it shouldn't be going on, but what can they do? It's like any other illegal thing in the world. It's against the law, but not all criminals are found.

subtle_rune
how about the ppl who break the rules get a peranent IP ban, this is how other MMO's solve consistend rule breakers,by Banning them forever  Thus, the clever breed of rule-breakers emerge. An IP ban stops someone from playing on that computer/network, so what would stop them from going round a friend's house, getting them IP banned unfairly. They can carry on doing that and their IP address will stay unscathed. Woot, second time I've used the word unscathed on TIF :D
