Tuna-Why aren't they that "important"

Part of the problemk for tuna in the f2p worlds is that everyone knows that they will be able to purchase lobster with relative ease. People dont normally sell tuna because it's hard to find a buyer, and many people don't buy tuna because it's hard to find a seller. Besides, in the wilderness it is important to have good food and that 2 extra hp might be what saves your life.

And swordfish arent popular because when compared to lobster, they take way to long to fish, burn more, so you lvl slower and make money slower.

Thats the other point, tuna are cheep, so from a profit perspective, they might not be worth the time it takes to fish them (I havent done any tests to see if thats the case nor do I intend to, but im sure that, that is the case)

i've always kept tuna for a few good reasons:

1. its faster to keep them than drop them.

2. i havent burnt any since about lvl 55 cooking.

3. i can usually sell them for 150 ea in varrok(on any world), if i have 200 or more of them

4. i use them for training and save the swordies for the wilderness

when i had lvl 62 cooking and fishing, i did a test: i timed how long it took to get from falador bank to the fishing spot, catch 24 fish(lobbies, or swordies and tunas together), cook them(and catch more to make up for the ones i had burned until i got 24), and get back to the bank. i did this several times for each, and i found that over a trip that was between 15 and 20 minutes, it took me about 30 seconds to a minute longer to catch the swordies and tuna than the lobbies(trying to get just swordies took about three times longer).

assuming 300 gp per swordie, 200 for lobbies, and 150 for tunas, if i caught 8 swordies and 16 tunas, my profit would be the same as for 24 lobbies. i was actually averaging 9-10 swordies and 14-15 tunas, so i decided i would stick to the swordies and tuna combined. it was and is also nice to know that i can always cook the tuna without burning it.

Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.
