I understand the adds pay for the site, but having those annoying popups!

As you said, they pay for the site. Pop-ups (if my understanding is correct) generate more money because you are forced to look at them. So basically, there's a choice here...

 

 

 

Deal with pop-ups or we can't have Tip.It... If it bugs you that badly, try and find a decent pop-up blocker. Mozilla has a pop-up blocker built in, so you might want to consider trying that.
