KB/s is different to Kb/s. Your connection is 768Kb/s and you claim to be downloading at 130KB/s.

ISPs sell their connections in bits per second, downloads show in bytes per second.

Your speed test results show a totally different story.

I do not love thee, Dr. Fell,

The reason why I cannot tell;

But this I know, and know full well,

I do not love thee, Dr. Fell.

You've definitely gone wrong somewhere anyway. Your connection is meant to be 768Kb/s UPLOAD not download. It will be meant to be ~3Mb/s download.

The reason you can only download at 130Kb/s from some places is because plenty of places cap their upload speed. In addition to that, places have to deal with others downloading too, so you end up not getting their full upload capacity.

Ohh ok. Another thing, in firefox where it pops up with the box saying ok and cancel for downloading, if I wait and click ok 30 seconds after my dl speed jumps to 2000 or higher for a few seconds.

That's because whilst you were waiting to click okay it had already started downloading the file to your cache. When you finally click okay and select where to save it the cached part of the file is moved to the final location and the newly downloaded bits are appended.

Because download speed is an average over time, it shows a huge amount downloaded in a short time because it's been downloading at the same speed all along, but it has only started measuring it recently - counting the cached stuff.
