Ranging / defence?

Hi,

I currently have a lvl 3 skiller and am going to train him to be pure range. I was wondering if it was worth getting defence up as well or should I just stick with range? I will be P2P soon. I just wondered your opinions on this. Thanks.

normally u win xp by hitting if u hit 1 u get 4 xp but if u do longrange , u win only 2xp if u hit 1 but u also win 2 def xp but

so 99 range will take many time longer

Hey thanks for the reply. Yeah, I could cut time down by doing 'Rapid'. But overall, would it be better to get Def exp at the same time? I want to train skills such as slayer.

Any opinions on this? Is it worth getting the def?

The two major styles of "pure ranger" are the 1 defence pure (usiing dragonhide and a leather or iron chainbody) or the full dragonhide ranger (40 defence AFTER any appropriate defence-gaining quests are completed - similar to a "perfect" rune pure).

In members, the higher grades of dragonhide make full dragonhide more potent in both attack and defence bonuses, though 45 defence can be used to allow the use of a Fremenik (Archer) helm.

At lower level, the attack bonus of the hardleather body (10 defence) possibly comes close to compensating for the defence-based combat level increase, with the advantage that a hardleather body is also a very cheap armour piece.

I'd be inclined to use melee to build defence, rather than halving the range XP by longranging.

8 Attack from the dummies, get a bit more attack from Vampire slayer (range it), if you can range (members) Dragon slayer using better crossbows or bow and antifire pot, you'll get some strength & defence there). Chase down any other quests that give defence, then get the required level for equipment (dragonhide 40 or fremmy-archer 45) using the best melee weapon you can use, or by optional quest XP, such as the one small favour lamps (10k xp each).

Thanks a lot :). All other opinions are still appreciated.

Just type in the numbers you're doubting between in the CB calculator (exp: 40def, 99 range, 43 prayer, mage 80 and rest of cb skills 1) and see what cb level it gives.

And just compare the different lay outs, and see what would be the most efficient killer.
