Can rs be played on dial up?

Featured Replies

Okay, I need help I cant use my computer at home which is a 2006 dell with road runner and rs plays fine on it. But my grandparents bought a new 2007 dell 2 months ago and it runs fast untill you use the internet which is localnet (dial up) they dont get cable were they live so they cant use fast internet and everytime I try to get onto rs it works fine until its the load up screen and were its uploading all the features it stops and never works I tried it on all the diffrent unsighed java and applet things on low detail and high detail.

can some one tell me if I can do somthing about it or am I waisting my time?

Thank you!

ps-wanna get on bad cuz im so close to 99 att (800kxp away--first 99 :XD: )

Yes, the loading might be a bit slow but it's possible.

Try to let it load for a long time (1 hour), go outside or something in the meanwhile, if it doesn't work then post here again. You'll have to copy all your rs files from your current computer to that one.

My internet speed gets limited to dial-up speed when I cross a certain download limit (12GB) and the only thing I'm able to go on is MSN or rs :P

retarted monopoly of the internet market here in Belgium

I run RS fine with dial up.

When I connect is tells me my connection rate is 53333 bps.

I suspect that you are time sharing your modem with:

Windows auto updater, Norton/Symantec anti-virus updater, spyware cookies, quicktime updater, mpeg updater, etc.

Check the auto update features for the above and see if you can change the default config.

Even then, it's probably spyware cookies that are clogging your connection.

I always run Spyhunter after connecting to clear out that garbage

but there are lots of better or free programs that you can use that

work just as well or even better.

My ISP is the $10 per month Netscape connect.

I have several ISP numbers that I can use and I have my default

set to the (normally) slighter fastest one.

But RS does run fine on dialup.

Hope this helps

I run RS at work on a free dial up ISP using my cell phone as the modem

If that can work pretty much anything can.
