I've seen guides saying to range Dad and the General, but my range attacks are pretty weak. Some guides say to pray against them, but I'm not sure how many pots I would need. I'm not sure how high their magic defense is....

I would just pray against them. I don't know what your stats are though.

For both Dad and the General, Melee Prayer and just go in and whack them. Troll Romance is another story. I got lucky while fighting Arrgh. I was standing in melee range, had Range Prayer on and Arrgh was ranging me for some reason. Arrgh uses both melee and range attacks and they both hurt a lot!
