Request for Photoshop Brush help

~Mods I'm not sure if this is the right forum, if it isn't please move it~

I'm slowly using photoshop more and more often, however I always seem to have trouble with brushes, therefore I just use an image as a background, however I'd really like those brushes that everyone uses. The only problem is, how do I get those? I know that you can get them from websites, you can download them in packs etc. However now comes the confusing part.

Everyone uses the word 'brushes' for let's say 'backgrounds'. However in photoshop when I go to brushes they mean something totally different, with brushes they mean this: http://www.digital-web.com/images/artic ... alette.gif

Well anyway I want to know how I can download these brushes from the internet and how I can use them in Photoshop. Yesterday I found out how you can download fonts etc, but I think the brushes are slightly more complicated.

Could anyone please tell me how I can download brushes, where I put them on my computer and how I can use them in photoshop? I would really appreciate it :D

Thanks!

ps: a link to a good guide works fine as well

Hi,

For all of your brushes, you go to http://www.deviantart.com and search for 'Photoshop Brushes'. Its got all you need.

For tutorials, I suggest http://www.pixel2life.com. And offcourse, keep practicing and have fun :)

For more questions, ask at the Question Sticky at The Gallery

I cant lock this, so I leave it open for more suggestions.

Heh yeah brushes gave me some trouble too! I'm not that great, but I'll try to tell you how to do it.

You need to find the photoshop brush file. (I have a program files folder.)

Hopefully you have some version of photoshop, otherwise I can't really help you...

So umm go into

Start> My Computer> Local Disk :C> Program Files> Adobe> Photoshop (7.0, CS, CS3, ect) > Presets> Brushes

Keep that folder open.

When you download the brush file, it should put the file icon thing up for the brush set. Drag that icon into the brush folder, (or copy paste it, whatever) and whazam! it's there.

Now, go into photoshop and open up the brush menu. Thing.

The brushes should then go into the menu...

I hope this helped, if you get stuck just ask and I'll try to elaborate further. And remember that the brush files must be compatible with the photoshop you have! :D

Thanks a bunch! It worked for me :D

And btw it's not that hard to find compatible brushes, on deviantart go you brows > resources > application resources > photoshop brushes. So then you have compatible brushes all over the place. But thanks I got it, mods can lock this now :D
