I don't know if this number is even close to accurate, but you figure hitting around 6 monsters at the same time, doing an average of 8 damage, 6*8=48, times 4 exp per damage = 192 exp per chinchompa. You need 1.8m exp to get 99, sooo... It's actually a little more, approx. 9,375. BUT you're also collecting PC points during that time, which you can use to train ranged as well, so yeah, around 8k.
