Force spawning at barrows.

I've been informed of a method that involves killing Ahrim and Karil quickly with prayer, then finding the tunnel and safespotting the melee guys by opening and closing doors near rooms with safespots. I like how this sounds because I've been told I wouldn't break even with Prayer Potions. My questions are:

1) how effective is this?

2) If I'm wearing rune, will I be able to run to my safespot? Or will the brother hit four 20s on me while I run?

3) Assuming I have 70 attack, strength, defence, Magic and 43 prayer; Will I be able to kill Karil then Ahrim without using a potion?

4) How often will ahrim hit me with 70 defence and Red Dragonhide?

Killing both Ahrim and Karil with only 43 prayer points alone is not likley to happen.

Using slayer dart, it takes about 20-30 prayer points to kill karil alone, so chances are you would run out of prayer during the ahrim fight.

If you really wish to save potions this is a good method for lower levels, but as you get to a higher level, you will find that most of the brothers can be fought without prayer and dont do much damage.

So if you chose to do this, heres what I would do:

Bring 1 Ppot with you (for emergencies).

The rest food and supplies ect..

Go in and fight Karil 1st, you might or might not have any prayer left, depending on how luck you are.

If your completly out, take 1-2 sips of your ppot if needed, and take out Ahrim. You might not need any ppots if you get lucky with Karil.

Then go down in one of the 4 courner rooms and open the doors on the side, as most of the corner rooms have safespots on both sides of the door. Then safespot them, and kill the rest without prayer.

This meathod is better for lower levels, but us higher levels can pretty much ignore this meathod, as we can take the brothers head on without prayer.

And while running to the safe spot, you should only get hit 1ce by the brother thats spawned, because they move at a walking pace, while you can move at a running pace. So as long as you stay ahead, you shoudlnt get hit. Just watch out for DH's rare hits on spawn.

As for the dragonhide, I would recomend getting black if you can, I'd say with red you have about a 40-50% of him spashing, Black is about a 60-70% for him to splash.

Hope this helps.

1) how effective is this?

  • Very effective. I've done it for many, many runs to spawn a melee brother where I want him, and it works almost every time. Sometimes you'll get him to spawn while you're trying to get to a room with a safespot; in that case, just keep running away from him and spawn him again until you get him in a room with a safespot.

2) If I'm wearing rune, will I be able to run to my safespot? Or will the brother hit four 20s on me while I run?

  • You'll be fine. When you spawn him, it'll have a big yellow arrow above his head so you'll know he is there. Just run to your safespot and he most likely won't hit you. I've never died from it. Now I assume you're maging him while in your safespot? If so, then take off your metal armour first to speed things up. If you get attacked by one of the lesser creatures, then strap your metal armour back on a get your whip back out (assuming you're using one) and whip it, then proceed to kill your brother.

3) Assuming I have 70 attack, strength, defence, Magic and 43 prayer; Will I be able to kill Karil then Ahrim without using a potion?

  • You should be able to kill them both just fine. I'd start with Karil, and pray on him. Usually I just let my prayer run out, because he'll nearly be dead by the time it does. I also don't pray against Ahrim unless I actually have leftover points. He can hit kind of hard, so be watching your hitpoints! Just wear the best mage protection you brought.

4) How often will ahrim hit me with 70 defence and Red Dragonhide?

  • He'll still hit you. Probably once or twice for a 10-15 or so. Just eat and be careful. Try getting your Range up to 70 for black d'hide or even Karils top and bottom. They're very effective in Barrows.

OK, cool. But I thought Dharok only hit high on low HP. Wouldn't he not be much of a threat at full hp? I wouldn't be fighting him untill I'm in a safespot.

And range is slow and boring to level, I'll take my chances with Red hides and prayer =P

His HP only effects his strength, not his accuracy. However, this is not something to worry about as he hardly ever hits. Only once in my entire barrows history have I had hit hit me on a door spawn. (Which was a 32 :S) Dont worry much about this though, as he hardly hits. Just run to your spot and eat if needed after your in the safespot.

I agree =P, and GL, hope you get some good chest drops.

What are you teaching him? Every single Barrows guide that I've read, and experience from Barrowing myself, says to take on Dharok first, because he's the one that needs the prayer no matter what. Then you move on to Karil and Ahrims, because they're the second and third most dangerous. Then you take on the remaining 3, those you can handle without prayer.

Why would you ignore a technique that saves yourself money? If you have a safespot, you won't need food, therefore you'll save money. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

And lastly, Dharok only hits up to a hight twenty or low thirty, if I can recall right. He hits just as high as the other melee brothers.

Not when he can't reach you =P

You take on Dharok in the tomb; he can always reach you there. Your best bet is to take on four in their tombs and the last one in the tunnel. That's how I've always done it and it's always worked for me. It's faster that way too.. but whatever floats your boat, I guess.

1) He's Safespotting DH in the tunnel and not the tomb, so prayer is not required, since he cant hit you.

2) DH hits more than the others as his health gets lower. His max hit at 1hp is 56.

3) Like I said before, this method is for lower levels as us higher levels dont need to worry about safespoting the other brothers.
