Yes, it was a jab at Islamic extremists. They're [developmentally delayed]. All of them, no exceptions.

And yes, I'd say there is good evidence religion played a part, considering the dude BURST INTO FLAMES AND RAN AROUND YELLING "ALLAHU AKBAR! ALLAHU AKBAR!"....

Er, I'm having trouble discerning your condemnation of terrorists and the entire Islamic institution.

Seriously, did you not get the implication that the jab at the islamic extremists means that he has no problem with moderate muslims? (Apologies if I putting the wrong words in your mouth btw Tigra). Also there is one hell of a difference between chanting your gods name on your deathbed and screaming it when you are burning from your own failed attack on other people's lives.

Also, don't play the genocide card against christianity, we learned and stopped, the minority of fundamentalist christians have nowhere near the impact islamic fundamentalists do so I really wouldn't pick that battle.

Definitely agree with that. Oh and by the way doesn't the Quran state that those who don't believe in the name of the Allah should be killed? Rather its the complete opposite to what the Bible preaches, so there's an obvious difference in beliefs even to the moderates in either religion.

Like what? Both are expressions of patronage to one entity. I really see no difference.

Surely the crime is that he tried to kill people, not that he happened to shout "Allah" whilst doing so?

The argument stemmed from Smokies comment -

?? :? That wasn't a jab at Islam was it? There's no evidence that these guys were acting in the name of god. There are terrorists with purely political agendas, also...

No... the Qu'ran states that anyone who doesn't believe in Allah will go straight to hell when they die. Then again, Qu'ran also states that anyone who commits suicide, even in an act of so-called 'Jihad', is also throwing themselves into the gates of hell.

The Qu'ran most definitely does not teach that killing anyone who doesn't believe in Allah is acceptable.

Can I remind you of the situation in N. Ireland that thankfully is coming to a reletively peaceful close after several centuries of political and religious tension? Slaughtering people from another religion is bad, but surely slaughtering people in your own is worse? What about all those devouts Christians in the BNP which stokepile explosives in their houses because they're scared of the "flood of immigrants"? The KKK in America? I could roll out a list of examples so don't play the "Christianity is compeltely innocent" card either.

I think you have me wrong, I wasn't trying to present that at all, as I said, Christian fundamentalism is less serious than islamic fundamentalism and is dying even more - N.Ireland as you say is cooling off, the KKK is almost a spent force i'm lead to believe and the BNP is anything but a Christian organisation - i doubt you'd find many vicars supporting them.

You really see no difference between those two? An act of quiet, peaceful praise and a act of murderous violent intent in the name of god? seriously? Yes of course the crime is murder but the reasoning (religion) is just as important.

and finally

The Qu'ran most definitely does not teach that killing anyone who doesn't believe in Allah is acceptable.

sure about that?

FIGHT THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN ALLAH, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, NOR FOLLOW THE RELIGION OF TRUTH, OUT OF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE BOOK [Christians and Jews], until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and THEY ARE IN A STATE OF SUBJECTION. (9:29)

ANNOUNCE PAINFUL PUNISHMENT TO THOSE WHO DISBELIEVE (9:3)

THEN SLAY THE IDOLATERS WHEREVER YOU FIND THEM, AND TAKE THEM CAPTIVES AND BESIEGE THEM AND LIE IN WAIT FOR THEM IN EVERY AMBUSH,

want any more?

good shame it didnt happen sooner, i spent 6 months in iraq i hate to say it but there's probally more of these cowardly attacks to come. They cant fight very well on there own streets of Basra so they have to bring it over here, dont worry thought these guys are getting taken out everyday over in Iraq thats what you get when you take on the British.
