The Perks of being a Wallflower

Featured Replies

I just finished it.

It wasn't that great really. My friend suggested it and said it was the 'Catcher in the Rye' of our generation.

BULLJIVE

The book was written well but the main character is whimp and a cry baby. He ain't no Holden Caulfield.

When survival is in question, anything goes.

Wait, what? Sorry, could you explain what this thread is about, or any history about it I don't seem to know about?

EDIT: Ooohhh! A book! I see now, very cool.

Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.

Isn't that what Holden Caulfield pretty much was, a whimp and a COMPLAINER! Honestly, I love that book, but Holden as a character was so annoying. Two pages on how he hated someones luggage!? RAWR! Haha, I have repressed memories of my old english teacher who read us the book in 6th form, in MONOTONE he read the whole book with no emotion at all.

Well every post I've seen of your is throughly stupid, Alan(I dunno which you want to be refer to as) posts a reasonable request yet you insult it for him.

Holden was pretty much a whimp in Cather in the Rye, he was just a little man acting big.

What's wrong with the protagonist being a whimp or a whiner?

Hamlet, anyone?

Nothing wrong with it, what makes it wrong is when they try to act hard or are a complete jerk.

With so many trees in the city you could see the spring coming each day until a night of warm wind would bring it suddenly in one morning. Sometimes the heavy cold rains would beat it back so that it would seem that it would never come and that you were losing a season out of your life. But you knew that there would always be the spring as you knew the river would flow again after it was frozen. When the cold rains kept on and killed the spring, it was as though a young person had died for no reason. In those days though the spring always came finally but it was frightening that it had nearly failed.
