  1. That's sim city 4 all right. Stephen's turn.
  2. Anyone want to explain what the difference between an M14 with a ACOG and an M21 with an ACOG is? As far as I'm concerned, both guns are the same, unless I'm wrong.
  3. halo 3 was given a 10/10 by edge and gave a 8/10 on bioshock lol anyways that's just one review it got a few 100's, 10/10, etc by alot of other reviewers also http://www.metacritic.com/games/platfor ... hepatriots i'm up to the last beauty and the beast and got stuck Yeah I don't know why and how halo got a 10/10 from EDGE, usually they are pretty good. And 10/10's really are just starting to mean nothing these days. All the major titles are being given it without any thought. Well to be fair, the games that received them were pretty top-notch. Cod4, Bioshock, GTA4, Super Mario Galaxy. And if you need confirmation that 10/10 games DO have their limitations, just wait for yahtzee to review them (or grill them).
  4. Bad voice acting. I judge a game on its voice acting, so there. And related to that, many commentators in sports games annoy me. The prize goes to The MC in Fusion Frenzy (no, I didn't buy the game, blargh), the most annoy [bleep] in human history. Characters with stupid names, annoying hairstyles, or as said before, idiotic dialogue. Enemies with 110% accuracy. I hate it when enemies can nail you at 1000 yards with a submachine gun when you have trouble shooting at that range with a sniper rifle.
  5. You shalst burneth for lying. Someone already mentioned this, one where a car moves down a road in a peaceful looking meadow. Maybe there was a ghost following it like the other person said, but my cousin told me to look closer and watch the car change color. Bang, zombie screamer. And that Jessica Alba one up there ^ spooked me. Kinda, i guess screamers are only really effective if you don't expect them.
  6. The ending to Jade Empire was fun, especially since you did the same exact thing once before and...returned to do it again. Not to spoil anything, but it's fun to come back from the dead for revenge. Then there's the original Metroid. I know I'm not spoiling anything by saying "WHOA! Samus is a girl???". But I never knew Samus was a girly-girl, a blue-eyed blonde as opposed to a grisly warrior, until I beat Metroid Prime.
  7. It was in Gears. The game was pretty close, and the enemy team kept taunting my team, since we were generally passive people. It came to 6-6, with 1 round to win. Well, what happened was the enemy team massacred my team, except for me. They caught me eventually, and downed me. Instead of a respectable execution though, they proceeded to teabag me. Of course, there's few things more infuriating than this, and few things more unsportsmanlike. Funny thing happened now. They let me get back up for some reason, and I rolled backwards. Since I had my lancer, I revved up the chainsaw and got the first guy in the back. Why they didn't chainsaw me back or shoot me I don't know, but I then rolled to the right, and ended up behind another guy and chainsawed him. I proceeded to roll up one more time, and get another chainsaw kill. I tried for a last lucky roll, but I got downed. You think the idiot would have learned his lesson, but he teabagged me again and did not kill me. And as karma would have it, I got back up, rolled behind him, and chainsawed the last guy. Entire team dead, by chainsaw. Classic, and gratifyingly lucky.

    Halo Wars

Limp, assuming your point is "RTS's don't work on consoles", there have been plenty of console RTS ports. Granted, they're better played on the PC, but really, what isn't? The 360 has seen two good RTS's already, C&C:Tiberium Wars (pretty successful) and LOTR:Battle for Middle-Earth II (somewhat successful). I think the company that made AoE is innovative enough for a console exclusive RTS to be a blockbuster, or at the very least marginally decent. That being said, I don't have many hopes for Halo Wars, because it's pretty dumbed down. Three factions are the minimum nowadays, one is unacceptable (no Covenant???). The battle system seems extremely simplified, not even the rock-paper-scissors mechanics of most games, but just "build-bigger-units-and-hurl-at-enemy" principles. I didn't even see any base-building in the trailer or resource gathering, just making the units and some flashy combat. At least it looks pretty. It's a radical idea though, take a shoot-em-up game and make a strategy title out of it. But being a Halo fan, I prefer them as FPS's, what the hell. Probably explains why I think the coolest part of Halo Wars is how the Warthogs can run over troops. That's insane. PS: Speaking of FPS into RTS, the C&C series will see another FPS title. From the RTS Tiberium Wars, there'll be a shooter called Tiberium. Pretty cool.
  9. I doubt the entire movie is done with camera shakes, just that it was used in the trailer to give it an authentic feel. In any case, I was interested when I saw a preview for it in I Am Legend.
  10. Not something tragic, like a car accident or electric short-circuit or something. That would just ruin the day for everyone with no silver lining. I would either chose to die after being satisfied with what I've done in life, or just something foolhardy, like a Robert Lee Wilson memorial.
  11. You don't realize the truth in that. What vegetarians fail to remember when they make the "animals are living things" speech is that plants are living things too. What, is it because they can't think? That they can't fight back, or don't scream in pain when you butcher them and make them tofu? Get real, plants are living beings too, and if you pull the lousy argument of species superiority then take this into account too. The point is, for us to live, other creatures must suffer, plants or animals. The fact that we eat meat is not a luxury, but our right, a natural one, and I daresay God-given as well. We don't resort to cannibalism (we definitely don't eat babies...) because we don't eat our own species, no species does, with a few exceptions. Not only is it not necessary, it's counterproductive from an evolutionary perspective. We are justified in eating cows because they're not sentient, they don't understand their circumstances and so they don't suffer from that knowledge. Besides, the minute the animals get together and complain/protest, we'll let them go free. I hope you realized you answered your own question with the smart-pig thing. We cannot eat that pig because it is far too intelligent to be butchered for mere meat, it's intelligence is worth more. We don't eat our pets because we bond with them emotionally. They are treated as family, and nobody eats family. On the other hand, I'm more than willing to eat a farm-raised dog. (Maybe not, that might make me a bit queasy). I may be somewhat of a speciest, but I'm not ashamed of it. I like my meat too, thank you very much.
  12. Yeah, I checked myself and I just realized that Episode 2 released with the Orange Box. Yeah, Halo 3 was overshadowed, even in its forte, online multiplayer. But when there's that much competition, you know it's been a good year.
  13. Seems like there's a lot of controversy on Halo 3's status up in there, which I was anticipating. Halo 3 is one of my favorite games of the year, which is why I included it in the top 5. I'm sure there are folks who dislike Halo 3 for various reasons (which tend to be unrealism and the poor campaign), but through raw quality, I think it's only fair for it to be included there. I attribute CoD4's and BioShock's successes not because they compete in the same area Halo does, but rather the opposite; they're completely different, and people appreciate them more for giving a breath of fresh air, and simply being innovative and revitalizing the shooter genres. But still, it's your opinion, debate is partly what this thread is about. And it does seem unfair to the Nintendo games that I never played...I'll expand the list to include Nintendo titles. And I'm not sure if it's proper to divide the Orange Box into its components (and hasn't Episode 2 been released previously also?), but I guess it's tantamount to what a good deal it is. I'm getting the Box soon...Can't wait to play Portal... =P~
  14. The topic is simple, and the title sums it up. With 2007 behind us, we can look back and see all the games that made it arguably one of the best years in videogaming to date. But the real question is, which of the games released this year is the best? So I'm asking you to list the games you think were the best, in order from the least greatest and descending. Include 3-10 games, and remember to mention its platform, and if you remember, the developer. To help you out: The list of all games released in 2007 GameSpy Game of the Year 2007 Yahoo! Game of the Year 2007 X-Play Best of 2007 2007 1UP Award Nominees Mah list: 10) Assassin's Creed, PC/X360/PS3/DS, by Ubisoft Montreal 9) God of War II, PlayStation2, by SCE Studios 8) Rock Band, X360/PS3/Wii/PS2, by Harmonix Music Systems 7) Crysis, PC, by Crytek. 6) Halo 3, Xbox 360, by Bungie Studios 5) BioShock, PC/X360, by 2K Boston/2K Australia. 4) Mass Effect, Xbox 360, by BioWare Corp. 3) Super Mario Galaxy, Wii, by Nintendo Tokyo. 2) The Orange Box, PC/X360/PS3, Valve Corp. 1) Call of Duty 4, PC/X360/PS3, by Infinity Ward. Note that there are many games here that I did not play, but I included them based on their ratings, popularity, and general evaluation from the gaming community. The list may also be slightly biased, since I shunted up games I approve of. : Ready, set, list! Oh, and Happy New Year!
  15. Happy Old Year! It is now anyway...
  16. Any, just play Lonewolves and hope for a Swords match. Otherwise, the Pit is best because it's mostly close-quarters and the sword spawn location is usually busy.
  17. I think better advice is: Don't miss.
  18. I guess BioShock counts as a shooter and not an RPG, seeing how nobody mentioned it. For meh, 1) Knights of the Old Republic 2) Oblivion 3) Jade Empire 4) Mass Effect 5) Pokemon Yellow
  19. Melee? As in the B-button melee? You need to master that, beat-downs would be among the most common ways you would kill someone, usually second only to the AR. Common tactic: Bring your opponent's shields down to around 50%, and melee for a quick kill. If both people hit at the same time, whoever has more shields/health wins. It takes around 7-8 rounds with the AR before you hit to get the kill. Or a particularly annoying method is to use the Mauler, shoot and then rapidly melee to get a kill in less than a second. It's tactless, but it works. Don't worry too much about vehicles, it's pretty dangerous to get kills in them anyway.
  20. Isolation and Epitaph, I just happen to be in my element there. For Swords games, Pit all the way. Don't you love cheating in a Swords game with turrets? You should expand the topic to include favorite gametypes as well. In that case, Swords. I'm untouchable with my parrying, and my Ascetic Elite looks terrifying with a sword. En guarde!
  21. Companies banning IP's are doing it for the good of their customers. It's merely cleaning up illegal activities that could ruin the name of the game, and the quality that their customers demand. I still fail to see how accidentally banning legit customers along with autoers qualifies them to be some hideous organization of pain and doom. As for Jagex, I'm sure they're more than money-hungry leeches, as I said before. Again, mass bannings and other drastic measures prove that the company does care about their game and customers. In recent runescape events, Jagex had nothing to gain and was only meant to clear out gold farming in the game, and hurting the community is not in Jagex's interests. To be honest, I think the entire matter is unwarranted. There's no reason to think any company is evil just because some random mmo had some mass banfest; it doesn't mean either that company, or any other is out to get you. I mean, you said yourself (Defender) you didn't even get banned, you were speaking hypothetically.
  22. I'm not seeing where the "companies are immoral, tasteless money-leeches" issue is coming from. I mean if anything, this shows that companies also care about their customers to some degree, in addition to making profits. Unless there was some source of revenue from sacrificing some customers for the good of the others, I fail to see why it's such a bad thing. :boohoo: It does stink that your account was banned though. But it's not because of some evil motive that whatever-company-that-was had. They had nothing to gain by banning you. :shame: Instead of saying "How far will these dastardly companies go! Woe!", I can understand complaining about your circumstances and where you live, like "Why does the universe conspire against me!!" :)
  23. A little late, skillcaster's post and link have all the relevant info, but here's a second opinion. Technically, the standard 360 IS the Pro package. But the Arcade one costs US$279, and comes with a wireless controller. In addition there's 5 arcade games and a 256mb memory card, as already said. A hard drive disc (HDD) here is the same as the one in your computer. It's like a memory card, but it has MUCH more storage capacity. The HDD's in 360's have the benefit of being portable as well, unlike your computer's, or a PS3's. It is most definitely needed. I doubt you're buying your 360 to play arcade games (the 256mb card is the bare minimum Microsoft is offering, since the other memory cards sold separately are actually 512mb. It's just that Xbox Live requires a storage space, so this is an excuse for one), so for real games and their saves/downloads and whatnot, you'll need the memory space of a full size HDD. If you plan on using your 360 as an entertainment center (music, pictures, and all that), then you'll need an Elite's 120gb HDD. Believe me, I only have 4 games for the 360 and I only have 7 gb space left; that 256 mb card won't get you anywhere. And it's better to get the package deal, since they cost $99(20gb) and $179 (120gb) separately. Methods, as in plans, or connectivity? You can buy the 12+1month card for $50, 3month for $20, and 1month for $8. You could always use a credit card of course, just hook up Silver version, and purchase Gold through there. As for connectivity, you could use a wired connection from your modem/router to the ethernet port in the back of a 360. Or use the rather expensive wireless adapter to connect to a wireless router. If you need anymore help with connections, ask, it's a pretty broad topic.
  24. Fieryfoolunderu, don't ask. Halo 3 and Gears I'm good for.
