Yeah I know, I wasn't sure where I was going with the chief. I think it was the Hayabusa thing. But in any case, I think us pirates can afford to bribe non-pirates to join, since we actually have a bit of cash, unlike them poor ninjas! Oh, T1000 and the whatshername are both robot assassin-mercenary things. Now, I can safely bet that those aren't ninjas, so tough luck. You see, pirates exist across all times, from past to the future. As opposed to Ninjas, who're just past. From this eloquent speech, I conclude that ninjas are history. Technically, Ridely and Kraid ARE pirates, or at least Space Pirate commanders. And to be politically correct, they're a pterodactyl and a giant lizard. Gawd. There isn't much in page 2 except for something about Chuck Norris and waking up at 5am. Aside from that, the undead thing still wins. No nonsense about taking the coin and putting blood on it or whatnot. A smart pirate like Jack would take the entire darn chest and scatter the coins across the world.

Mass Effect, and I'm loving it. I'll probably rent Assassin's Creed and Bioshock next.

I've tried to read the Silmarillion, but of what I understood it's lots of different stories over hundreds of years, I don't think it would work somehow. :-s Collection of stories doesn't quite cut it. Try "history text book" or "catalog". I mean really, Tolkien wrote more fictional history in there than there is in my history text book. I was going to make a joke like, "What's next, a Silmarillion movie?". But it's not quite as funny now that someone actually suggested it... Anyway, go Hobbit! It feels like a PG movie, I don't remember much in the way of real violence, romance, or even anyone dying in a bad way. But at least Bilbo Baggins gets some credit. I was getting tired of Frodo's chronic childish stare.

I shall gladly take his appointment. Your army will be that much stronger. You realize I can't let you take advantage of innocent experience-deficient-individuals like that. I for one, will stand up for their rights, or lack thereof. With Lionheart gone, you stand no chance.

Pretty good I must admit. But this is an offtopic forum for a reason...Back to general discussion (or wherever) you go!

Nah I don't like cake. Let's go with lolcats! Whatever happened to that thread anyway?

Hmm....good point... Although I have to ask, have you ever played a Ninja Gaiden game? It does seem that poor Ryu has a hard time getting anything done there (aka, he isn't as godly as implied, and it's a pretty hard game). Speaking of Hayabusa, we could always strap Master Chief in Hayabusa armor and...Not sure where I was going with this, but I think MC can take on a scrawny old ninja. And that Space Pirate, he's just a grunt. I'd like a ninja try someone the likes of Ridley or Kraid. Getting away from Metroid, we can always arrange a meeting between Jack Sparrow himself, with Ryu. The undead-immortality thing never gets old.

Zero Punctuation: Hilarious Video game reviews
underu2000 replied to Solidus_77's topic in Video Games & Consoles
Yahtzee is pretty clever, and that British accent makes him sound hilarious, though all he does is insult the daylights of popular games. The Bioshock and Console Roundup ones were my favorites. There's a new one every Wednesday, can't spend a week now without listening to em. -
Yeah, I have plenty of buds from school who play with me, as well as other people I met previously in Live from gears. It's weird though, either they are pretty low levels, like lieutenants and sergeants, or they're killer colonels and commanders (most of them are). It's awkward playing in a party with people who're all triple your rank. Oh, nice stats for your friends by the way. Brigadier, nice!

Oblivion is a lot longer, and possibly better than Assassin's creed. Like said, AC is better off rented, and Oblivion bought.

Well, you can't expect to go publishing books about folks without their permission in the first place. And there's no way you're getting away with displeasing Lord Norris. Since we're on this topic: Chuck Norris doesn't dodge bullets, bullets dodge Chuck Norris.

:wall: You can't imagine the urge I'm having to shout "No [cabbage]???" I'm usually not bad at dropping hints, but it should be obvious that I knew she was a bounty hunter. Note the part I wrote "works for pay". In any case, let me get back out of context. Bounty hunters are closer to being pirates than ninjas anyway.
-
Eeeek! It's scary to see all those thousands of combinations. I mean, you can see moves that go all the way to a checkmate and I can't plan for more than two more turns.
-
Out of context? Of course not! What you just saw, was a Black Space Pirate. Do you see Space Ninjas? I don't think so. No sir, I have to disagree, and say that Samus is not a ninja. She works for pay, has no idea what the word "stealth" means, uses guns, has a ship, and is awesome. All these things are aspects of pirates and not ninjas. Once again, I have to emphasize that even in close range, ninjas don't necessarily win. A real ninja is just a peasant with make-shift weapons, and a real pirate is a mercenary armed to the teeth. A fictional ninja is a character that has superhuman speed, strength and weapon skills (for example, Naruto). A fictional pirate can have the things listed for ninjas, but also tend to be lucky, and rich. Emphasis on rich.

Surprised that nobody shouted out Starcraft. Sure, it's an old game, but the fact that it's nearly a decade old and millions still play it online is testimony to the sheer genius that went into creating it. If you want to play a game easy on your computer, and still have as much, if not more entertainment than the best of RTS's now, Starcraft is the way to go. Warcraft III is newer than Starcraft, and is just as good as it. It has this emphasis on few-strong Hero units that i don't like, but it's a change from large scale armies that most RTS's use. In any case it's a game made by Blizzard, which means its great. As for newer RTS's - World In Conflict is notable, it has a stellar multiplayer. - Company of Heroes is a great, realistic game. And it's a rare genre: a World War II RTS. - Star Wars: Empire At War, for the Star Wars fan, other than having an interesting space battle scenes. - Supreme Commander, apparently for its epic battles. I didn't think it was extremely innovative or stood out in any other way though. - C&C: Tiberium Wars, if you want fast-paced action. The average game takes less than 15 minutes; frantic and exciting fighting is implied. - Starcraft 2, the game I've waiting for. Sequel to the greatest RTS I've ever played, what more to say?

Out of curiosity, what kind of idiot pirate attacks a destroyer? What's he going to loot, fatigues, boots and kidnap drill sergeants? All the while avoiding the hundreds of armed soldiers and their guns? I'd like my refund on the credit given. lol @ testicular fortitude. At the cost of the fortitude of the cranium it seems. I'm surprised that nobody thought of this yet, but obviously all of us would want to be pirates! 1) Free movies and music. As opposed to watching Godzilla's Revenge, or whatever they watched in Japan centuries ago, we get to see movies way ahead of everyone else, and for free! They ride the torrents with their ships, if you catch my drift. 2) Pirates pick up more ladies since they have better rides. Pimped out battleships > pandas. Although this is debatable, some prefer pandas, but that is your opinion. 3) Ninjas get to live all frugal. Pirates generally have treasure chests, as allocated by the Caribbean Piracy Act of 2007. This means they live pretty much with heaps of beer, loot, and women. 4) And most importantly, I'm not sure where this nonsense of 200 pirates to a ninja came from. You see, there is no way a ninjaken can cut through the dual-layer ablative armor, ceramic bullet-proof kevlar weave, energy shielding and magical-blessing-of-kick-rearness that pirates possess. Observe: So using the equation 2.7182(4P)I+5(Ra)-T^e = @w$0me, I predict that Pirates > Ninjas.

Ah I'm getting somewhere, still nooby though. At first I used pretty much just the sniper for its instant-kill potential, but now I find myself with all four weapons. I need to get the hang of firing in bursts with the assault rifle though, in addition to wrestling with the Sniper's drift to fire more accurately. I have horrible weapons for now...A Kessler IV pistol (hurts as much as cotton balls) and Hurricane III shotgun (not bad). Once i figure out how to make the Hammerhead and High explosive rounds useful, I might be on to something.
-
Level 37 Captain. Yeah, excuse the noobie. I would go much higher up in skill levels, but it's frustrating to play any gametype. I can't play Lonewolves since the folks who play it are always extremely high levels, the lowest I played in the last dozen or so games was a Major...And I hate playing team-games, it's so erratic, there's really no way to clinch a victory unless you have a General on your team or something. But funwise, it's a blast. I expect to be a Major, maybe even Commander by the end of the month.

The first game I've ever played would probably be Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (fun stuff) on the Sega Genesis, though it was called Sega Mega where I initially lived. It didn't belong to me though, it was my older siblings' since I was hardly 6 when I first played it. I forget how much time passed since I played the SNES and Donkey Kong, but I was hardly allowed to play it, nobody trusted me with it after breaking the Genesis. :boohoo: Mortal Kombat III was my first PC game, and my brother got Doom (first FPS I've ever played), though I and my bro played dozens of Freewares like Jetpack till I was around 10. Other minor games like Duke Nukem, Raptor, Commander Keen and Corridor 7 we played a lot too. Since then, I concentrated mainly on strategy games like Age of Empires 1, Zoo Tycoon 1, Caesar III and StarCraft. Most recently I bought Civ4, and wait patiently until Starcraft2 is released... As for my first console (one that belonged to me), it would probably be the Gameboy Color. Since then, I followed up to the Gameboy Advance, both of which are old, 7 and 6 years respectively (I never throw out stuff I love, call me a packrat if you want). I still play my Gameboy Advance, I refuse to buy a DS, PSP or even a GBA-SP until my current Gameboy's dying breath! My second console, the Xbox, is really what made me truly interested in gaming. I had always seen the PS2's popularity, but I went for the underdog. With Halo and Halo 2's success, I was convinced that the PS2 could be dethroned (not a fan of Sony...). So I now have a Xbox 360, and this is where my history ends. Order of consoles played: Genesis, Gameboy, SNES, Dreamcast, PS1, GBC, GBA, PS2, Xbox, and 360. Makes me feel like an old man...

Hah, 2 years? They got nothing on Blizzard or Valve!

I feel awfully naive for googling "slave music", but it sure turned up good results. You tell me if it works. PBS has a whole list of songs here I dunno if the format is workable, but do what you can.

Getting somewhere now. Yes, you're allowed to harbor wrong opinions. But using a flawed or grossly disagreed with opinion in your argument gives you no authority at all. But at least you understand your opinion is arguably wrong. You're falling back on that frustrating statement "I don't think so, so it's not right." With issues like this, we rely on a consensus of many opinions. In this case, most people agree that rap is music, except you and another one or two. Furthermore, your one opinion is just that, your opinion. It has no impact on the actual definition of music. Opinions are relative, definitions are not. Using my previous statement, if everyone except for that one person thinks it isn't music, then it isn't, at least in this simple scenario. Once again, his opinion of whether it's good or not has no meaning on whether the sound itself is defined as music or not. Matter of fact, that's one of the only things that made sense from you. Yes, you don't like rap, your opinion. Yes, rap is music, not your opinion, a fact. Exactly! This is where the entire topic of "rap is music and you can't change it" is coming from. Rap, IS, music. It's not someone's opinion to be changed, but a fact, a truth. Whether it's good or not, is entirely your opinion.
