Nose. I don't understand, I thought my nose is sexy. But I'm still the lady's man... 8-)

Calling them African American is a lie. It's brutally simple actually. They are descended from Africa, but are otherwise completely American. Same goes for others, like Asian American or Native American. I dislike "black" because it emphasizes on distinguishing groups by their skin color. It may be accepted as norm, but I usually don't use it in public places, but maybe to my black friends who are used to it.

@warri0r I agree that I was crude with the whole spontaneous life thing (abiogenesis to be accurate), but it's because I think the whole thing is a crude theory itself, especially compared to the rest of the relatively detailed theory of evolution. It's definitely the weakest link, seeing that every theory that tries to explain abiogenesis also has an array of problems with it, making it require as much faith as say, intelligent design. And the "one scientific theory vs multiple religious theories" doesn't work here, seeing there are dozens of different explanations of the phenomenon. @rebdragon, The Miller-Urey experiment has not clinched anything, it just suggests a possible direction where abiogenesis could have occurred. In fact, it doesn't even explain abiogenesis, it just explains the events that leads up to it, that is, the creation of organic compounds in prebiotic conditions. There are other theories on how these amino acids and nucleotides actually arrange themselves into a protocell, but they're all equally dubious. And even then, the development of all the characteristics of life including reproduction and even the slightest homeostasis is hardly known. But I digress, I'll give spontaneous life a little leeway because it's still being studied.

Actually they don't...Not in American SAT anyway. Which is really the point; why do some races get a little extra consideration? I'm sure it's been said before, but it's to equalize the relative numbers of African Americans (blacks seems vaguely offensive somehow) with professional careers. It's not like they're "handing them money", the money in scholarships promotes higher education. And I doubt this scholarship actually helps much more than getting into any college possible, I seriously doubt you could get into Harvard or something relying on these scholarships alone. And don't they already have scholarships for those with low salaries?

Iran, Mutually Assured Destruction, the Strangelove Scenario
underu2000 replied to Necromagus's topic in Off-Topic
It wasn't what you said, it was how you said it. Especially with the "and gay people too", which was when I decided to respond. But as long as you know the yada-yada about extremism and moderation. Well, if us and them weren't [bleep] to each other's religion, we wouldn't be sitting here worrying about Iran tossing nukes around, would we? -
Um, I'm not sure what an RRP is...But I have (and played) battlefront 1 and 2. There's one for the PSP too, and that's Battlefront: Renegade Squadron. Doesn't abbreviate to RRP though.... It's actually a wickedly addicting game and can last you a few months before the fun wears off. Battlefront 2 is a superior in every way than the first installment, just to let you know. Let me summarize the gameplay. It's you and 16-man AI "army" (it looks big on the field) vs an equal opposing army. The idea to win is to eliminate all enemy "reinforcement points", by killing off you opponents, and you win when your opponent's points hits 0. You or the AI troops respawn at death (which happens a lot), and you lose a reinforcement point for each death. There's also places called "command posts", which you capture and use as respawn areas, and the team with the least command posts rapidly loses reinforcement points as a penalty. Each game (at 150 reinforcement points) lasts a good 15 minutes, making it generally a fast-paced action shooter, a novel concept. Don't expect anything deeper than pure entertainment though, there's not much storyline or anything. The multiplayer is average, it's definitely better with Xbox live. If you have a ps2, it's not as much fun, but hell, there's plenty of games you could get otherwise on the ps2 anyway. There's my mini-review for battlefront. Hope it helps.

Iran, Mutually Assured Destruction, the Strangelove Scenario
underu2000 replied to Necromagus's topic in Off-Topic
Well, I can tell you your job as another Christian isn't to judge others. Yes, I am Christian. It's awfully close minded to bash another religion like that; how many innocent Muslims will it take to convince the world that they're not all extremist terrorists? Oh, the mutually assured destruction thing isn't nearly as safe a method of keeping the human race alive as I'd like. Iran is quite clearly hostile as it is, last thing anyone wants is a nuclear armed hostile nation. There really is no easy solution to the dilemma, which could literally be earth-shattering if it went awry. The sooner we get anti-ICBM missile pods in space, the safer I'm going to feel. Until then, I'll just do my part to slow down global warming. This whole nuclear business is beyond my power anyway. -
Since it wasn't written in the book, I won't believe it. I have as much right to interpret the book as the author does right? Call me a homophobe, but I prefer Dumbledore not gay. Either way, Dumbledore is the same to me. And he had a crush on Grindelwald? That's just ridiculous; she's making this up as she goes along, to enjoy herself and her 1.12 billion dollars.

Is it possible for life to exist outside? Right now I have enough reason to believe either there is, in any form, or there isn't yet. Note that I'm not saying that life cannot exist outside of the Earth, but it may not have occurred yet. Remember that a (relatively) mere 14ish billion years have passed since the universe was created (estimated from Doppler effect I think), and assuming evolution on average occurs at the same rate as it [may] had on Earth, either there may be no life at all, or uncountable numbers of super-sentient civilizations out there, or something in between. Who knows? The "mathematical evidence" would point either way. The main problem I have with life out of Earth is how it could have started. We hardly know how life started here in Earth. I believe that God had at least some role in this, that some degree of intelligent design was at play. at least until somebody thinks of a better explanation for spontaneous creation of life other than a lightning bolt and some sludge. Oh, maybe we're looking for the wrong kind of life? A lot of people mentioned water, and presumably cell-based life which happens because of it. It's understandable, since all life is cell-based in Earth. But what if life could develop that isn't like the ones here? What if we can't find that "apple" because we're looking for some other fruit? For all we know, there are walking and talking rocks, and we're just being oblivious to it.

Aaaah.....I can imagine...Not that it's fair to blame the German dude, but the only possible reaction on his part would be blinking and a moment of utter fascination with the floor and walls. Feel bad for him.... I'm sure every person in Japan is aware of their part in WWII, as much as Japan refuses to apologize for their past action. Whether the matter is taught in schools I do not know, but something that ominous can't be hidden, no matter how much the xenophobic government tries. (Sorry if the xenophobic part is offensive, but it does seem that way to me.) Although I do feel bad for kids in Germany and Japan. I can tell Saving Private Ryan, or Call of Duty games wouldn't be popular there...

Seeing that MGS1-3 have appeared on the Xbox eventually, it'll be a matter of time before MGS4 appears on the 360. If you mean a simultaneous release on both systems, probably not. If a simultaneous or 360 exclusive release for MGS4 happened, every Sony executive would sit down and cry. Oh by the way, add Ace Combat 6 to that list (it's not there now). It was a PS-exclusive series, but its a 360 exclusive now.

I'm not sure why everyone considers Gears' multiplayer that good. There's only four game types, around a dozen maps and hardly any game variety. The sheer number of glitches is alarming, and new ones are being found as patches remove the old ones. There's a little more than half dozen or so weapons that people actually use (11 if you count them all), and few of them are really innovative. After a month or so, the multi justs get boring, which explains why the achievements take so long to get; that is, to prolong the playing time. Although I'm more of a free-for-all game person, the team-based gameplay isn't bad at all. But the point is there are better team based games. Gears is a good game to be sure, but it isn't the greatest game I've ever seen. Note that I like the game and am definitely not opposed to it, but it just gets to me when people say "gears teh best thing evah".

Er no i can assure you that the time MC was unfrozen in the first halo definitely came before halo 3; its a clear order of events and not a flashback. If you want to know, MC was frozen in the battle of Reach, which is the prologue to Halo 1. Halo Wars, imo, is a bad venture and I'm not impressed, especially with other blockbuster rts's already out there. And it takes place far before Halo 1, so its storyline isn't going to add to Halo 3 either.

Right so the 360 is the only console with expensive addons  . expensive addons that don't come free with ps3 you have to pay for online, doesn't come with rechargable battery like ps3. that g'dam $100 wireless adapter. etc Right, because the PS3 is expensive as it is. :notalk: Part of the reason the ps3 costs so much to make is because they cram all the additional stuff into it that you don't need. At least with the 360 you have the option if you want it or not (HD drive, for example). And towards your point of all those free things, ever realize that they're not worth buying the ps3 in the first place? The 360 Live is light years ahead of the ps3's sloppy online. And the rechargable battery costs 8 bucks, $20 if u want the charging controller stand. A tradeoff with the SixAxis' lack of rumble, but if you choose free batteries over rumble, go ahead. Although I am somewhat annoyed the wireless adaptor is so expensive. At least they give you a free ethernet cable, better than nothing.

Hah, AoE 1 pwns you all! [hide=Age of Empires coverart][/hide] Except for age of mythology...AoM is better and more innovative than even the Blizzard rts's in my opinion (warcraft and starcraft), but i guess it got tiring fast. [hide=Age of Mythology coverart][/hide]

http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=692081 Old topic, that thread has a lot of old games. Pong being the oldest of course. Check out the 2nd page for pics of the classic old games. - Yeah, UT is old...The first one is 8 years or so old, is it not? -Captain Keen?....Pogo stick? Mattel-esque gun? Kidnapped Baby sitter? Yep, that's Commander Keen for sure. -Prince of Persia was the hardest game of all time. To date, I have not found a person who completed it...It was innovative, but hardly entertaining. Aaah.....nightmares of dungeons, [bleep]es, dungeons, [bleep]es, dungeons and [bleep]es....

Before anyone calls it an FPS, it's not. It's called a "tactical shooter" apparently, but it's still an FPS to me. Halo with ducking and minus the jumping. It's got a fan following because it's got a rather innovative style. I don't mean the lancer and bolo grenades (the chainsaw rifle and swingy grenade) which are hardly original in my opinion, but the gameplay elements. The duck-cover, new reload bar, etc are fun quirks, but it's the team based combat and the somewhatrealistic fighting (as opposed to the chaotic nature of FPSs like Halo) that appeals to hardcore xbox shooter fans. Is it the new Halo, popularity wise? It might be, but i dunno. It doesn't have that pizazz, that simple but satisfying entertainment Halo has. It's multiplayer and co-op is pretty good, but don't expect much from the storyline or any deeper meaning in the game. PS: Did I mention the great graphics and detailing? Not that it's exactly colorful. I hate how the predominant color is brown in it. The people, the sky, the water, the bullets, all brown. Argh.

The Blind Skull is a silver one, it doesn't give achievement points or point multipliers, just the effect. The Iron skull is in Sierra 117, and the Tilt skull in Cortana. They're gold skulls, so you get achievement points for them. The achievements page lists all the gold skulls, so.... http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Halo_3_Skulls#Blind Yeah, Halo wikia. Pathetic as it is, the skulls are easier to find with that list. : .

Well, it does give another perspective on the storyline. Apparently Dante is presented to Nero as a villain, and the obvious duels should occur. Very much like the special edition that let you play Vergil. At least I think so, and Nero does seem to have some insane powers that Dante didn't, so I don't see anything wrong... And I'm glad it's releasing on the 360, I might just get it.

Haha if I were a cat I'd be more likely to pee in your breakfast bowl than breathe on you, so you're safe. But being human, you're potent enough with the fire breath. :XD: Don't kill me! It was a joke! Flee everybody! And of course, another for reb

I hated the lock-on feature of the rocket launcher. Any small vehicle like a warthog or ghost was nearly useless when somebody ran around with a launcher. Even the tanks were redundant, since you were just a bigger target just as easily destroyed. At least with the missile pod, you have to disadvantage yourself with its weight, lack of melee, and lack of secondary weapon to use the lock-on.

No, [summation of] Force = mass*accelaration, not mass*velocity. Ah right, I said velocity and not acceleration. I can hardly distinguish between those two anyway. I was just referring to newtowns, which is Kg *m/s^2. Ignore me with equations, I'm terrible with remembering them.
-
Logically, they would hit each other with little peculiarity. The only significant thing is that they would disintegrate, although I'm dubious they would explode. Force = Mass * Distance/time, simple as that. If that force contains enough energy to accomplish anything significant, then ok. The two objects in question would probably disintegrate even before they reached the speed of light anyway, but assuming they did, I assume they should be sturdy enough to perhaps merge, or at least not "detonate". I don't know though. Nuclear fission occurs by accelerating subatomic particles rather quickly, I just don't think the same principles would apply to larger objects. Who knows? And people gotta stop posting their schoolwork online... -.-
